Well you can go the other way as well if you want. You can get 95% on the mining unit and lower on the final. You can also go high on both and put a point or 2 in storage. Yes it might ruin one or 2 with a crit fail but I just kind of expect people to just be using factories for harvestors now anyway. The failure rates are horrible for arch stuff.

Actually the threshold is 80-81% as far as I can tell. All Turbo Pumps/Heavy Harvesters/Lagre Ore Extracors simply need to have an extraction rate of 6. Once you reach 6 stop, you risk damaging it and sending back to 4 or 5. The same goes for the final product. Putting in identical level 6 harvesting components with high quality resources will result in BER:13s. And again, when you reach 13 stop, and put the reaminaing experimentation in storage.
