Thread: How to annoy an architect

On a more possitive note:

Last night I'm at my factory working on a Heavy Harvester. I get a tell from a guy asking for 2 factory made storage modules. He offers me 6k for them (this sounds like a lot to me) but since I am out in the middle of nowhere I tell him I'll take 4k but he has to come to me. In between runs I put is order through. He actually got there rather quickly considering how far out I was.

Later that night he sends me another 4k. I send him a tell thanking him and asking him what it was for. He replied that he never had seen an architect be able to get an order immediately without waiting a couple of days.

Considering the night I was having (20 structure modules poof from my inv) I appreciated it.

guy on corellia: Hey, can you build medium mineral harvesters?

me: yes, they cost 20k a piece.

corellia: that's ok. I have the materials.

corellia: 517 steel.

corellia: 750 ore.

corellia: 720 metal.

corellia: 500 aluminum.

corellia: 240 chemical

me: um..

corellia: 250 copper

corellia: 250 carbonate ore

corellia: 200 reactive gas

corellia: 150 non-ferrous metal

corellia: 20 inert gas

me: That's enough to build a medium mineral harvester.

corellia: ya I know.

me: but what do I get in return?

corellia: the stuff I just listed.

me: no I mean, what's the incentive for me to build it for you? The time I spend making your harvester is time I need to spend to get to my harvesters before they spontaneously blow up.

corellia: EXO

corellia: EXP

me: lol ok. dont need xp sorry.

Personally I think your selling yourself short at 94k but all up to you. Your the first I've seen at anything even close to 125k and most I've seen are closer to 150k.

Had a request for a PA last night and I told him the earliest would be monday I could make it. He actually ask me if I was stock piling resources until then. Kind of like he thought he was the only person to ever order something from me. I finally took my profession off my name last night. 8 tells for Halls and not a single one wanted to wait a week. I think everyone has hit all the normal converations with non-crafters here.

Actually it is these prices that are making me not produce as much. I just get mining contracts now and whatever I've got left over goes into houses. Why make 15 larges in a week when I can make 5 and just sell the rest of the resources for more.

Also is 325k way too much for a PA Hall? Groups are only buying one of these so wouldn't the market really dry up quickly?

LOL, nice post guys, I can't stand when someone asks for a house of something and when I give them my price (4 - 5 credits per) and they say........"oh this dude is selling them for 10K less"

Well you know what, go by from them. I explain my prices to everyone I sell to so they don't think I'm trying to rip them off. I think 4 credits per is extremely reasonable.

Spot on Asianguy.

#2 is unbelievably common.

"50k for a factory!? Some guy offered to sell me a factory for 11k last night."

Uh huh, sure.

The problem is these noob crafters who have never seen anything that requires more than a hundred units of resources, let alone the 8k of ore ALONE that a factory requires.

Hell 50k is cheap if you compare it to the cut throat prices of resources on the bazaar. Honestly, who is paying these prices... oh yeah, I AM! 'Cause I have no **edit** choice. Our only hope is to sell enough reasonably priced MMIs to drive the price of ore way down.

4 credits is very reasonable. I stopped charging for ym houses ... If they want one I tell them to either give me the resources and I'll make it for free or buy resources from me to use and I'll use them to make the the house. To be honest I am noit concerned with money or Id jsut sell resources but I will not undercut the market jsut to move some houses.

This one keeps sticking with me. Was running to my shop when I got a tell.

Idiot: Hey, can you make small houses?

Me: Yeah

Idiot: How about 15k?

Me: Sure

Idiot: **edit**? What a (*&^$)(*ing ripoff. I have seen them go for 8k

Me: Hey, don't get pissed at me for a price YOU offered.

I've talked with some of my fellow architects in game, guess this happens a lot.

I set a frim no haggle policy a few weeks ago. I quote a price and that is the price I will build at, not a starting offer. I actually enjoy some of the exchanges with the discount idiots because I have a reply ready for whatever they say..

themmg ur crazy thats way too much
meK
---------
themh thats too expensive
meK
---------
them:I know a guy who sells for half of that
meK
---------

So much better than trying to reason with someone who wants me to give them my hard work for free. Agreeing with them leaves them no option of continuing to bother me with an argument heh. I am barely keeping up with orders as it is, why would I want to use precious time and resources to sell for less?
