Thread: Architect Question do you like it?
I really like archy personally, largely because you can do stuff right away. From the very beginning you can make houses, and on my server (Valcyn, not as populated as some) I was able to sell them for 8k and make a nice profit. And to be creative and to get some XP, I added some furniture into the deal and sold them for 10k. I made a lot of friends, some money (I remember thinking OH MY GOSH I MADE 30k!), and got great XP.
And the cool thing is that once you get to a really high level, a factory can do all the grunt work for you and you just get to focus on assembling things and making friends with your customers.
I wub archy ![]()
Still having great fun with it, and have been a master architect for months now.
The downsides: Lots of heartache and pain along the way; the odd devastating critical failures including two large naboo homes in succession (a massive blow at the time as I was just starting out); the early days of the "lowballers" where folk would sell for no profit or even at a loss just for the experience gain; lowballers posting on these forums!; ungrateful customers who think you should sell at a loss because they ran one whole mission and think their 7k reward for 10 minutes'effort entitles them to a small house plus your gratitude for their custom!
Constantly restocking 4 vendors and running round harvesters like a lunatic (kinda fun but wearing)!
The plus sides: Tonnes of social stuff and expecially fun from a role-playing point of view. The joy of seeing a small "business" grow from hawking basic deeds on street corners to running one of the most successful stores onmy server; the satisfaction of watching the lowballers quitting as they realise they have no cash "safety net" in the event of a sales drought or a nasty crit; decent profits derived from lots of hard work and determination, the satisfaction of buildingvirtually everystructureplus a guild hall for our PA, theanticipation oflaying down our player city(if they ever open more slots!)and, perhaps the greatest pleasure - giving people what they want when they want it and knowing, hopefully, how pleased a new player is to finally buy their first house and furniture at a reasonable price and own something permanent in the game, which came about partly because of your time and effort.
All in all, I don't regret mastering architect for a moment. With my hard-earned cash I've bought five holocrons and mastered three other skills temporarily (4th holo was silent) without having to give up Master Arch - and even now I'd probably go back toArchitect if I temporarily had to quit to master that elusive fifth "jedi slot-opening" profession. In fact, I only want the jedi slot to get ten more 'lots' for harvesters![]()
Hope you have fun, whatever you decide,
