You'll need to find a shipwright vendor. Go to the planetary map (ctrl-V), look in the vendors section, and open the listings for Starships. That'll list all the shipwrights registered on the planet you're on (in this case, Naboo). Many of them will be selling junk, or not have much stock, so it can take a while to find a good one. You might check your server's trade forums to see who's advertising a well-stocked shop.
Alternately, you can buy stuff off the bazaar. It will probably be fairly low quality, but it will definitely be cheap, and some people end up dumping a lot of their old gear there when they hit the next level.

Oh, sorry. No, you just go to the starport where your ship is parked, open a starship terminal, go into manage for the ship you want to mess with, then swap parts in and out as you please.

lol.. yeah, the resource system is a lot of fun. It's one of the best systems in this game, I'd say. And you're going to get a bit of a crash course with shipwright; it uses a ton of different resources and a TON of them at once.
Er, oh yeah.. /endhijack

Well, I always go for equipment then starships. I mean, a new starship wont do you much good without better equipment. Of course, better equipment wont do you much good without a higher-mass starship either.
But equipment has always been a good choice. For me, atleast.

Be sure to take trips over to the Artisan forum for lots of good basic crafting info, and the Shipwright forum for ship info. Be warned though, it takes MILLIONS of units of resource to master shipwright. Its not a path to be taken lightly, and not really intended for the lone wolf new player. Not trying to discourage you, just letting you know, that the reason space wasn't added to the game for a year was to give people time to collect and prepare resources and credits.
Best of luck in your time with us. If you really want to be a shipwright, try to find a guild that is looking for one, and can help support your training.
