They cost 16 wood, only have one slot to fill and take 3 seconds (yes, three seconds) for a crafting tool to produce.

GCXP per hour (my personal best hour) 17k.

The second best way, since you're not gunning to be the first architect anymore:

Spend your time sampling wood while you sleep and running missions while awake. Save up 18k of wood and 30 to 40k credits. Buy an equipment harvester from an architect. Load it up, 4 hours later you'll be Novice Architect. Redeed the factory, sell it for 30 to 40K and rock on.
