I hate the Combat "Upgrade" as much as anyone else, but please get your facts straight. A level 10 creature requires three hits to incapacitate a level 1 player. Not one hit. Three. And that's a 9 level difference, not a 3 level difference. It's also still possible to make the Aurillia run as a level 1 player. The levels system is a load of rubbish and you will be incapped frequently as a pure crafter as a couple of level 15 MOBs spawn on top of you due to lag and take you out, but let's not go spreading false facts about crafter survivability. It doesn't help our case.

From my own testing posted in this thread I found that at level 1 I didn't have any problems with CL 5 or lower, CL 7+ could insta incap me but I was also able to get away alive from a CL 16 panther.
So saying anything 3 levels above you is instant death is exaggeration at least compared to when I did my testing. CU is a changing environment and we don't know yet what exactly will go live.

I'm usually a very optimistic person, but this whole Combat Downgrade has me feeling very cynical now too.

Everything I've read and seen indicates this is now going to be EverStarQuestWarsGalaxies. I don't play EQ anymore for several reasons, one being that SWG, pre-CURB is a better game.
Thesuits saw that there were some problems with SWG's combat. For some insane reason, they decided the cure was to upend SWG's design philosophy and make it conform to the other two MMORPG's run by SOE. You think they'd look at how WOW has prospered, and howplayers are looking forward to Vanguard; compare that to the market performace of EQ/EQ2, and then run as far in the opposite direction as they could.

Imagine if you will having a small house no going up to requiring 15k in resources, and now you need 6 different specific kinds of ore to make it... talk about a pain.
Shhhh don't give them any more ideas to make profession even worse.
