Thread: Urban Planner & Player Cities
You won't be able to make money as an urban planner. This is for people who want to build a city and don't care about personal wealth. Successful urban planners are going to need to be supported by a PA.
If you want to make money I recommend getting ready for vehicle building.
DarkLordSyth.....thanks for all the info you have given, i never expected such a great response when i created the post a few days ago ![]()
I am going urban planner, but my master weaponsmith, armorsmith, and DE would like to know as much info as they can about their elite elite proffesions too
So if you have time to post another response like the urban planner one, it would be MUCH appreciated
Thanks again man
Urban planning should work like the first sim city.
You set down lots for zoning, i.e. where people can build what, and they build it there.
That way you have an organized city.
Well unless you got 3 accounts then self building space craft isn't going to happen
sry to disaapoint your crafter....
The DE Elite Professions isStarShip Desinger
Novice : Gets Basic Chasis Desgin for 3 different Types of Space Craft (this will be the smallest of the small of personal craft, limited speed, armor, and weapons)
Skill Tree One : Naboo Design Space Craft (Ranging from the small Naboo Fighters, to the StreamLine Crusiers used in the first two movies speed, and looks is all this class is about)
Skill Tree Two : Corellian Design (Again Ranging from small, slow and bulky craft, to large heavy sheilded, and heavily gunned Cap Ships, if fighting is your thing then these will be your ships, they may not look the best, but as Han Solo says "She's got it where it counts Kid"
Skill Three : This is for the third type of ship, either going to be Mon Cal Class, or Dare I say it, some form of new aged trade federation ship.... (This class will be the Mix of the other two, Faster than the Corellian Style, but way less gunned, and shielded, however much more combat ready than the Naboo Class, with some sacarfice to overall speed.... These ships may also not be the Bulk monsters that the Corellians are, but they wont be the pictures of streamlined bliss that the Naboo class is either.... Over all they will fall in the middle, a good all around ship for the traveler that wants to explore space, but not live in it)
Skill Tree Four : Engines (Proposultion) this is where you get all your Expermintaion, and Assembly Skill! Plus a good range of sublight, and faster than light engines. (note that certain types of hyper drives and sub light engines will be limited to based on chasis size, and design.
The names of the other two are still be worked out but the skill trees have been hashed out, and will look something like as follows
WS Elite Elite Profession
Tree One : Energy Weapons (everything from a single mount small laser, to the quad mount tuber laser blaster, when it comes to base fire power it's found in this tree)
Tree Two : Ion Weapons (From the small surge that annoys your oppents to the one that overpowers the power grid and leaves them floating dead in space, here is the crippling weapon systems you salavate for, how ever at much cost to your over all bulk, and other weapon systems)
Tree Three : Missle Style Weapon Systems (though not really seen in much of the SW movies, never the less, different types of warheads will be used, everything from little rockets to annoy people to proton missles used to blow up the death star, cant wait to use these to finish of a Star Destoryer hehehe)
Tree Four : Here again is the Assembly and Expermintation aspect of the new class, this is also where the weapons trageting systems will be found, got love those to-hit other space craft bonuses ![]()
AS Elite Elite Profession
Tree One : Hull Plating Need I sad more it is ship armor, offers different protections to different types of damage, ie heat, Ion, blast, what have you. Also needed to make the ship space faring lol unless you like feeling like tomato juice run threw a strainer lol
Tree Two : Deflector Shields, where as armor is a mixed blessing on the ground, Deflector Shields will be the mixed blessing in the air, when active the will drain ships pwoer supply, decrease movement, and lower damage output of all weapon system, but hey they will save your arse if the time comes you need to put them up lol
Tree Three : LAYERS lol need I say more, this is where the hull gets it's added protections over its base effecvitiness.... WoW that ships takes no Energy Damage, Fire all Missles lol......
Tree Four : Guess what time it is, thats right Expermintation, and Assembly, who would have guessed lol, but wait there is something missing oh yeah, the power core well here it is, used to power everything from the shield to weapons have fun trying to but the Z71 Power Unit in the Naboo Fighter hahaha
Here is the kicker Armor, Weapons, and Engines will all need repair, due to decay and battle dmg, who is going to repair them, you guessed the ones that build them, so make sure your R2 is on board, and if your Han Solo luckly maybe even a chewie will be along for the flight, if not put in at the nearest Starport, and turn the keys over to your friendly repair personel......
Now to the rumors that are being heard, the Architect is being shafted again, well fear not, from deep with in the minds of SOE, and the hampesters that turn the gears rumors of a the second elite elite architect profession are nothing but whispers now, but I feel will be in full scream as space approaches...... Just a hint as to what I have heard mentioned, and then I will let your minds run wild with possiblities....... Space Pa Halls anyone lol
Great Post Sith, Thanks for all the great info!
Does anyone have a clue as to what distance Player Cities will have to be from main cities?
My Concern is that our PA is 1200m from Moenia, and we'll have to move everything farther out in order to setup our Player City.
How about number of buildings that have to be in the same area
and how far can the buildings be from eachother?
will city limits expand to the last house, or will they expand beyond that?

So many questions
I hate to be negative.. but from what I can tell..
Only Large PA's and their architect(s), will be making cities.
After the Architect does all the hard work, the MAYOR gets to place it where he sees fit.
There will be no money in it. only the knowelge you helped build a city.
If you are a non PA architect.. look to the other professions for a future.
There is no money in archetecture and im afraid none in the future..
Right about now im wishing I chose the WS skillor maybe even DE . ![]()
im not in it for the money, im in it for the fun....been waiting for this type of game for awhile ![]()
anyways, if anyone has insight to the above questions (*cough* DarkLordSyth *cough*) please feel free to share
Im in it for my town.
To thoughs solo Urban Planners out there I sugest you talk to a PA that doesn't have one or maybe even does but another one wouldn't hurt to hire you, or maybe join them. If you help build the town, you are most likly going to get cheap or free weapons/armor/food etc.
Just a reminder to people who might be expecting too much from the Urban Planner profession. Pay close attention to the name:
Urban Planner
This is usually a 'civic' job title. In many respects, the 'Urban Planner' has less education in engineering matters then an Architect would.
I believe their emphasis in Urban Planner is literally the ability to 'plan how the city' will be built. This oddly enough includes the construction of the necessary structures. But the emphasis is NOT on the construction of deeds for selling, but rather, the construction of deeds that are needed for the specific city being built.
So don't go looking into Urban Planner to make a profit. Look into it if you just wish to build up your own city.
There will probably be 1 UP/city. And probably not more then 5 cities per planet. And I think we're about, what, 6 planets or so that you can actually build houses on?
So there should probably be no more then 30-35 UPs on an entire server. Once their cities have been built up, those characters will probably be mostly idle (since there is not much more they can do).
I agree with the "I'm in it for the fun" statement.
The architect profession is fun for me. I would like to know that I had a steady market for all of my products, but that isnt a major worry. When the UP profession comes along, Ill be happy to go on up that skill tree. It will be new, it will be buggy, but it will be fun to help build my PA's city. Having a shuttlepad out back, next to the Guild/City Med center will be a nice accomplishment.
Of course, I have one distinct advantage of many other players in that I have 2 accounts. Allowing me to play my other character as a combat professional.
Even if player cities and UP profession are full of undocumented features, they will have the benficial attribute of being new and fresh.
Cheers!
