Actually its worse than that, based on what we know so far its 84 layers to make an advanced mabari chestplate with a full layer loadout.
4 layers per segment, 3 segments per core, 7 cores for the chestplate. 4x3x7 = 84
On top of that, consider the hide requirements to make the same chestplate.
We only know about basic segments so far as thats as far as anyone has reached in the TC5 armorsmith grind, however, things work out as follows:
A Mabari Chest needs 7x Recon Cores (+290 hides).
All Basic Cores need 55x Hide and a segment that takes 5x leather hide (60 hide total).
So the Mabari Chest now needs a total of 710 hides now
All Basic Cores need 55x Hide and a segment that takes 5x leather hide (60 hide total).
So the Mabari Chest now needs a total of 710 hides now
Lets also make the assumption that the difference between basic and adv segments is that "any hide" becomes a named hide such as yavin wooly aka current adv padded segments. So now I need possibly 700 yavin wooly hide to make the same chestplate as advanced.
At least we have found the new customer for the Scouts/Rangers that can't sell to Docs now. With the recent new group harvesting bonuses and the bonus master rangers got its not so bad is it. Hide prices should go down right? However, don't expect to see many master rangers around after the CU hits to group with and get the 40% bonus. Many are considering dropping master ranger since its not considered a combat prof and does not count towards the 3k health for 2 elites.

With creatures only getting harder to kill post CU, we will see an increase in prices on organics.....

So, for run of the mill, nothing specialhide we're looking at a basic cost of 15-35k credits (@ 20-50 cpu)just for the hide to make ONE Mabari chest plate. Wow, this will be interesting...I can see the ads now: "Full Mabari Suit! Only 800k!".
That's why they're disallowing newbs from wearing armor. They won't be able to afford it.

Ya, it's all starting to make sense now, isn't it. They are trying to make it so only the super elite are going to get armor. Our sales aren't going to increase, they are going to decrease drastically. I seriously think they are trying to stop us from being the credit giants that we are.
May have to go over to custom made armor.

As a matter of fact, depending how this all turns out in the end we might be next to completly out of master rangers or rangers of kind (yes even less than there are now even tho some might think this is almost impossible). I personally currently ponder to drop down even below master scout *if* testing shows it will be as bad for us as some think :-/ and when you see that our corr also debates to drop ranger on his live char I guess that says enough about our situation...

I know, my alt is ranger/tka. If rangers don't change from the current situation in CU, i will be switching to duel elite combat and 3040 scout
and I love ranger
Custom made is the way my armorsmith business isgoing and has been going for last few months. The CU will accelerate this trend.

So true.
We will still be making the same money, just we'll be crafting 1/10 od what we used to.
PRE CU - Sell 20 suits of Mabori for 15k each = 300k net
POST CU - Sell 1 suit of MAbori for 300k .
LOL, something like this, you all get the idea.

I buy my material on the bazaar and sell most of my armor on the bazaar,I make 1 piece at a time ( I'm like the points for FS ), it's only half as good as the 400k suits for only 7-10k a piece, but I do sell alot of it. Now with only elite professions wearing armor it's going to be dog eat dog. So now I can't even give it away or can I .

Well, maybe that's the right way to move AS to a craftsman rather to a "composite mass producer"?

Eh. I generally buy off my favourite hunters. And if their the type to keep their prices low. i'll knock off a good chunk of my proffit. And now and then throw free things at them like repair tools, droid batteries. And hell some times even the odd free full suit of armor depending on how my income is. Keeps them comming back for one thing. Which is important when you need alot of hide.
