I do heavies for 150k as well.... And I cannot keep up with demand. I mine 65k of ore a day myself, and STILL buy ore, and I buy all my metals for 2-3cpu as well. So you sell heavies for 90k, i make 6-10 a night now.. No way I could mine that much, and I even have to turn down orders. I sell a heavy for 90k and i barely break even. I have critted two this week so far. With the work I do *yes* i expect to make a profit, all the work with my harvesters, factory, making sure I got enough of this and enough of that and an under 24 hour delivery time.

Price gouging? No. If thecustomer spent as long doing deliver missions as I do with the factory and miners, and harversters and other components, then the extra bit over the cost of materials he can cover.

If you mine 120k of stuff a day, and can produce 4 heavies a day and dont mind barely getting by, then fine. But dont call it price gouging when those of us who can handle volumn orders in a short amt of time charge more. After all, when the rare resources pop on the planet, who are they gonna go to? an architect who can produce 2-3 heavies a nite, or one that can do them 10 asap?

I sell structures for 6 credits per resource. Furniture for 8 per resource. Standard prices, consistent, and fair based on the time it takes me to harvest. If someone wants to provide the resources, I sell them the completed item for 2 per resource.

Maybe we should form an Architect Association, everyone that agrees with the the minimum pricing can join, the association can somewhat set reasonable prices, a basic range, and everyone in the group will sell for that range. The incentive to join and sell at these prices is your reputation, we could have a website and list everyone in the group. The people not in the group, wont get the reputation, if they want to sell really cheap, thats fine, it's their choice. But people will know when you say, "Hey, I'm part of the Architect Association" that you have a decent product at a decent average price. I dunno, just throwing out an idea

Its a good idea but:

a) Getting all of us to agree to a price system will be like herding 29 cats who are in heat. Refer to thread above for evidence.

b) The product of a price gouger or a lowballer is exactly the same. So our customers will just buy from the cheaper guy because the only differentiating factor for the customer is price. Most customers will just buy from the cheaper guy. I'm sure you'll get an occasional sympathetic customer who would pay more for the principle, but you get those irregardless of whether an association exists or not.

So basicaly I hurt Architechs when I sell them Low Grade Ore for 1.5 CPU. I dont understand this statement at all. Using this logic if I charge 100 CPU I guess the Architect would be doing great? I dont think so. I sell my resources to architects at 1.5 or lower CPU in bulk but in returns I expect that I pay less for my harvestors ect.. I realy dont care what you sell to the general public Sell houses and Harvestors at 10 CPU all you want. But dont try to tell me I am hurting Architect by selling the ore at 1.5 CPU that is just a fals statement. And no I dont work twice as hard for 1/2 the profit. I work just as hard as the guy selling ore at 5 cpu. I just sell at what I feel is a reasonable profit. I hope you do the same.

I'm very sure that Tempest was refering to the lowballers among the Architect profession. Like the Archis that sell finished structures for 2 CPU when resources go for 2.5-3 CPU on the bazaar for the sever.

I don't think that miners were being criticized, how could we not love a miner that sells to us for 1.5 CPU?And what server are you on??

This isn't directed at people like you mining resources its aimed at lowballing architects. Your selling at 1.5 is what allows the pricing of 3 to 5 credits a resource and being able to actually make money.

Proper Business sense allows us to make a few simple observations:

First: if you can sell the ressrouces needed to make houses/harvestors/furniture for 3 creds minimum on the bazzars, it would make no sense to sell a structure at that same price.

You would make the same profit for less work, basically, your getting better value (its the opportunity cost concept). So your minimum should be 3 creds a unit, this is also know as "the Economic break even point" not related to the accounting break even point (aka Cost price). Since you work hard to get the skills needed to be an architect, you should get the fruits of such work IE: at least make profit over the 3 creds a unit used.

My experience has been that if you sell the more advanced end stuff, your going to make more $. Why? well because those who seek suck goods tend to have more disposable income for those said stuctrures and second, since they take so many ressrouces to make, those who dont make a profit, usually cant build more then 2 or 3 before they are run out of business. Would the Wolrd be a better place if we all whent out of production? I think not, so dont feel guilty charging a fair price. which is over 3 creds a unit. I try to make 10K profit on factories, and progressively more for the more advanced one. And I forget about houses, everyone seems to have one anyhow.

There is always a flipside to the coin. If you stick with set prices as a group, more players will become the proffesion, will kill off your sales. If you lowball the cheaper items, but keep prices moderate on higher end things you will crush some of the weaker minded compitition out of the market. I stick with the second option, If a profession seems to profitable, people will become it, need to keep it so it looks as though there is little to no money to be made to really make a buck. On my server there is already plenty of architects to get pretty much all done that needs to be done in a timely fasion, but everyday there are new flockings of architects who think there gonna be millionaires. Btw if anyone really puts some thought into it, bet you can make a ton more money doing delivery missions than being an architect, if your in this profession really for the money, be better off getting out now.
