Thread: CALL TO UNITE: Read if you are serious about being an Architect
If you can get 100K for a factory, then you must be using your jedi mind powers on your customers because NONE of my customers would settle for that. Hell, if I was them I wouldn't either. It takes less than a credit to harvest two units of resource unless your not very bright and place a harvester on less than a 50% deposit. Some people say that when they reach master that selling structures for what I sell them for they would take a loss. HOW? The harvester we can build as we become more skilled become more efficient! Therefore how can a master be taking more of a loss than a novice. Their skewed logic befuddles me.
I know that unlike other crafting professions, our product is not consumable and some believe that we should compensate for it by charging more. Well be my guest. I will continue charging the same 'reasonable' prices. When player cities are implemented I'll have more business than you can shake a lightsaber at.
If your on the Eclipse server and want to join and help me with my workload, feel free to email me or send me a tell.

Well i think whoever came up with that list is a fool,i agree that houses should slowly decay regardless of maintainance, say small houses last 3 weeks mediums last 8 weeks and large last 3 months. this would keep people interested in houses cause the times arent too short.
But the guy above who posted about his work load being full and over flowing is right. i became a novice archi i got 3/4 tells almost immediately saying can i do thisand that. now i can make the bottom 2 rungs of stuff almost, just neeed furniture done. and my business is going nicely. i got around 40k a day and ive just started. Well the guy above i cant spell your name but ill help with your load i can now just about make medium houses so i should be able to help, also can make installations 2. Will speak to you more in game about that =).
Anyway i have 45 lots or something ridiculasly stupid. why? because my friends ave me theirs, i have one partner called dinky who is slowly trying to advance in droid engineering, he does missions to make money i sell one factory and 2 houses. on average and that keeps everythign payed for with excess not that we need it.
my customer base keeps growing like i sold one guy 2 houses next his friend wants a factory and now they may need better miners.
The gae iswhat you make of it. people will get sick of being on planets and so they will need to change their houses, the only answer i could come up with is to charge more for a generic house. thoughi wouldnt asthat would just kill business. also who has the right to question you about your prices apart fro mthe customer? the customer isnt happy then you have a problem. if the customer is happy then no problem. regardless of what anyone else thinks only 2 people are involved in any on transaction buyer and seller.
just a thought.

As I am just starting to build up my business, prices are not primarily important for me. I try to find customers and that means to sell stuff for cheap prices. But this also means that they will recommend you to their friends and though I hope to get more customers and can then rise my prices to a normal level.
My experience is, that most of the people who are not in the architect profession, have no idea how much resources it takes to create a house. Yesterday someone wanted to give me the ressources for a small house and was surprised to hear that it takes 2400 ore and not 500.

Exactly my Farun. If you're not an architect, you have no idea. That's why I send the resource requirements for what they want built to them. Once they see the list and what resources go for on the bazaar, they are more than happy to pay the 60-70K for a factory. ![]()

hey No offence, i run my business to make money and i do.
i charge 3.5x the resource or 3x I take trade in resources at 2x.
I dont bend or very little.
I sell enuff to buy anything i want and have a big house nice cars and happy wife.
Charge what you think your time and effort is worth. I do 3x resources and +5% if the factory is used.
Sad that i play this game with a calculater and a spread sheet but oh well.
You will never, ever get price consensus for a number of reasons. One, not everyone plays the game with the same goals. Not everyone judges their success by the number of credits they have, the amount they get per house, or the number of houses they sell. I certainly don't. One type that doesn't are people that are more achiever oriented. They just want to Master the profession just to say they can. Selling is just a means to achieve that goal. Of course, they won't stay in the profession very long, as they move on to their next mountain to climb. But you also have players in it for the social aspect. Personally, I get much more satisfaction from making someone happy that they were able to afford that house or factory they been pining for at a price they can afford. The amount of profit is secondary to me. And I'm going to do what I feel is neccessary to make them happy. If that means charging just above cost (and I do make some monetary profit on every item I sell), then that's what I'll do.
That brings me to my second point.....not everyone defines 'cost' the same way. Personally, I only use resources that I harvest myself, or that people give me in exchange for their structure. And this method doesn't cost me anywhere near3 or 4 credits per resource. So even if I don't sell my items for 4x per resource....I am still making a profit, for me. If I'm not, how else do I explain why I have more credits now than I ever have before?
I know........people say that weaponsmiths and armorsmiths make more credits per. Good for them. I don't care about being a weaponsmith or armorsmith.
I know.......I could make more per resource sellingthem outright on the bazaar. Goodfor resource sellers. I don't want to be oneof them, either.
I want to be a Architect. I want to build houses and factories. I like making people happy. Credits come second.
But thats just me. And I'm happy with where I am.
I won't go lower than 4c/resource anymore. 3c or around just isn't worth it. I'd rather just setup my havestors and put everything on the bazaar each day for 4c/resource and make more than most of you.
A friend of mine is a weaponsmith. His prices are very resonable and he still manages to bring in 100k a day without a problem and he isn't even close to master yet.
I have a problem with other architects thinking we can't be the same. Houses are not throw away items. They are a luxury end game item. They shouldn't be able to be bought with 2 hours worth of missions. You may think some of us are gouging the customers but if so, then you think everyone is ripping the non crafters off. If you think 4c is too high they every single other crafter out there is a ahole for charging too much. Even the medics sell their stim packs for more.
Sell for what you want, I don't have a problem getting money even after I raise my prices almost daily. Just don't say you are an honest architect because your selling cheap. If a fighter gets his 100k or whatever for a large home in a week, what are they supposed to do with the rest of their money for the next month? I know, give it to the weaponsmith and armorsmith because noone has a problem with them ripping everyone off.
1) Starting off your quest for a banding together of Architects by calling halfof them idiots and "noobs", and suggesting everyone "LAY INTO THEM" is not what most people would consider a good building block for a concerted community effort. If I start off my post calling you an ignorant moron, you're not going to read the rest of my post in a very good mood.
2) I'm getting a little tired of people like you posting what the "right" prices are, as if onlyYOU can decide that. It's your opinion, and you're certainly entitled to it, but that doesn't make it right. Get off your high horse. You're not the boss of me.
3) I sell smalls for 10K. I won't sell you one for 7.5K. I wouldn't have before, and now I doubt I'd sell you one for 10K either, as you're so intent on insulting me and anyone else who doesn't follow YOUR price structure like a lemming.
4) You bet your butt I'm backlogged. And about 75% of my customers are referral. A lot of my business is repeat business, for upgrades to larger homes or furniture for their home. I'm very busy. And I'm not even a little rich, and you know what? I don't care. I love setting people up in homes, I love crafting furniture, and I'll love it in about a week when I build all my wonderful PA friends a hall so we can be "official."
My goal when I started wasn't to be rich, it was to be an Architect, with a shop and a respected reputation for fairness and good pricing. I'm accomplishing that goal. Now some idiot noob from down the block is whining because my price structure is different than his, and he wants me to sell everything for the same price he does, so that he can get rich and not have any real competition from me, and so that he can play the game the way he wants to, on his terms. It doesn't matter to him how *I* want to play the game, it only matters that he gets what HE wants. Yeah, I really see your point.
*shakes her head negatively*
Chiaros it's just perception from past games that it should be an "eventual " end game . When you buy a large house as an individual your done with buying houses . They will not degrade , and as long as you put maintence into it its there for good . My perception is that makes a house for an individual End Game . I charge waht I feel like , but after 3 medium harvs that went /click /into thin air . Im through getting 3 credits a pop . I found out by going 4-5 I still get a very decent base . Medium Harvs aren't even that bad to lose , but I can just imagine . I use 2 brand new spec tools made with Abewism which I believe is the best you can get in the %% that we need to be good at what we do .
I've made very good money selling
Medium for 60k
Large 140-160 k
Medium Harvs 15k
Solar 18k
If someone brings me some of the rarer resources I discount the house ...
I seem to making due , and have a little coin left at the end of the day ..
Listen everyone should just let folks sell for what they want , they will learn sooner or later . If your close on resources with little help ONE majer crit will be all it takes to change there prices . There are so many people looking for homes, harvs and power its not really that hard to keep a decent customer base ...
I shut down sales this week , except for what was already made , I used the week to gather resources so I can now finish up my last few box's . I found last week when I took a HUGE amount of preorders , 3 crits and I was close to being in the hole .
Oh and I dont sell small's anymore , let the newwer architects sell them all they want

Well you have to remember not everyone has that luxury. I buy a lot of resources to build stuff for people. I have to base my prices off of what I buy resources for. I use 2 of my lots for a small shop and 2 lots for a structure factory. 1 Lot is being used on my solar harvester. That leaves me only 5 lots to get all the materials I need in a day. It's not going to happen and never will happen.
My point is this, never try to say we're ripping people off because you have access to all these extra lots and can mine everythingyou would ever need for 1 cred/unit. Furthermore I would just like to point out that if you did what you're doing in SWG in the real world, you'd be taken to court for breaking anti-trust laws.
