Thread: Beggars and Scammers

After the first few requests to "join" a new city, I wisened up and removed my Master Archi tag. It really cut down on the stoopid requests from the under prepared. Every once in a while I would get a refferal and would play hard to get... I would scare them aboutthe costs associated with running a city and the probability thier city hall would vanish. Those that continued to press eventually revealed that they were in no shortage of credits (I'm an uber BH and can make the cash to support the city in a few hours"). That claim put them in a very bad barganing position =)

Sometimes, I point out to begging playersthat Medicant is not one of the Star Wars Galaxies professions. I also point out that the game rains credits, you just have to know where to hold the buckets. The ones that ask how I help. The ones that don't, I'm not interested in helping. If it's a small amount, I'll sometimes go ahead and /tip it just to get rid of the nuisance, but usually I'll ask what it's for first.

/agree...just started an Archi player on tempest (the reason i'm hanging around here) and i've asked for money twice...both times it was for about 500cr to get from one place to another to do artisan missions. one guy tipped me a few cr (i even offered to let him buy the ticket for me, another trick i sometimes use for noobs who ask for a few k to get around), the other one didn't even respond to my pleads for 500cr so i wouldn't have to walk back to bestine after my bike got blown up by a krayt just outside his city. :/ Beyond a few k cr, unless you're someone i know in RL you're chances of getting anything for free are relatively slim. Guildies get stuff from me occasionally for free, though i rarely even have to deal with that as most have no problem with credits. If it's anything beyond that, you can expect about 1k credits or a shuttle ticket if you don'tappear honest.

lol I don't know why it is but I don't even wear my m/arch hat and I still get requests from people to make things (people I don't know) - just shows you the power of referral Anyways as a rule I don't give free items away - however if I run into a good customer in my shop I ask them what they're looking for and then I give it to them free as a thank-you gift. I also give discounts to the citizens in my city. If people place large orders with me I will usually throw in a couple free items as a thank-you as well...all this goes a long way to building up a good customer base!

LOL...got a better one for ya...

Send them to your 'free stuff vendor' (for me it's armor) conveniently located in the Pit of Karkoon (read: Tatooine Sarlacc pit)...Tell them to go into the 'big hole in the ground'for the vendorwith all thefree stuff.

The only person it really worked on was Aderoon about a year or so ago...a rather clueless jedi on Chilastra, when he was just a baby nooblet ... hehehe, I still laugh thinking about it...and his buddy Gerard that screamed bloody murder after Aderoon got the Sarlacc diseases all up inside him...

That's evil.
