Thread: Two Questions...

I have two questions about the politician profession.

First, if I am the mayor of a city, I know I count towards the citizen count of the city. But is there any way to make the city hall my home? By this I mean it would show up in the profile section of my character. Is this possible without actually owning a home?

Second, which information is correct about cities. the website/adv guide info or the in-game info? On the SWG website is says that 10 people are needed to make level 1 and 20 for level 2. In-game it only asks for 5 and 15, respectively. Any clues as to which is accurate?

Thanks in advance to all those who reply.

Ok, originally the Dev's said that when a Master jedi suffers perma-death that they will become a blue glowie. I would like to know if this is still the case? I don't think there is a Master Jedi yet, so I'm mostly asking if anyone else has heard anything that I haven't.

My next question is, if you can still become a blue glowie, can you still train others? That would be sweet if you could. Otherwise I think I would just delete my character and start over.

You no longer become a "blue-glowie". I'm not sure if that was ever really the case or if that was just something devs wanted to add later.

...and they are even related, sort of.

the the questions have everything to do with the fact that i am new to carbine in the last three weeks or so. the first one is related to a carbine i purchased for grinding XP. it looks a little something like this:

DH17 Short Carbine
Speed: 2.5
Min: 100
Max: 241
Point Blank: -25 @ 0m
Ideal: +26 @ 25m
Max:
-80 @ 64m

Health: 25
Action:
27

Mind: 14

i do not remember what the damage was before, but this is the damage after a 22% slice (wish it would have been higher ) at any rate, all told including slice i paid 9.5k.
is this gun any good?
or did i just waist 10k?
i DID in fact shop around for nearly two hours looking on the planetary maps and running from shop to shop, but all the other DH17s i saw were much higher in HAM cost. which of course leads me to my second question...

i am 99.9% a PvE player, and i am pairing Carbineer with Combat Medic. i intend to master both professions, but have come across a bit of a stumbling block. you see i don't like to get buffed EVERY TIME i run out to do missions or just go hunting. i don't like having that timer ticking over my head making me think 'okay i have X amount of time left so i can probably run another four missions before the buffs run out'. the problem i have run into is i know EXACTLY how i like to set up my stats for a combat medic/ rifleman and how i like to set them up for a combat medic / pistoleer (not much different for set up as rifleman as pistols have low HAM cost) but i am getting eaten alive by my carbines. the gun above allows me to spam Full Auto Single I exactly 8 times in a row before i start to think 'uh oh, i am in REAL trouble here...' i ran that as a test this morning. 8 and no more

Here are some of the things i need to take into consideration:

As a CM i can heal myself quickly and quite well BUT when i am healing i am not fighting

With my poisons and diseases doing their work i will not have to rely nearly so heavily on carbine specials BUT there will be times when i simply must blast away like crazy. always happens

i like to throw heals at other players A LOT so i need to migrate my stats to my mind pool and mind secondaries BUT carbine is demanding far more from my action and health than anything i am used to. (that's a lot of buts )

SO! all of that to ask: do you experienced players suggest i migrate points from my HAM pools into my secondaries so the specials just don't hurt as much?

or should i migrate stats from my secondaries to my HAM so i can simply tank more damage from both specials and bad guys?

thank you very much for your input

id max all stats in mind. and dont buy weapons with advanced scopes or stocks unless they are the imp stocks.

Set your other stats so your use cost is as high as you can stand it for your choses special (i recomend fas2) and buy a lot of stims. You will need them. With cm that means your master medic. So you can heal yourself prety darn good. I understand you not wanting to buff. Buy some nice brandy for your mind and use it. with 2 drinks of brandy and high migrated mind stats your mind use for specials and stims should be prety low. Make a /healdamage self macro so you dont have to target yourself to heal and put a /ui action clearCombat queue command in there so the stim is the next action you take. If your still running low on mind than maby buy some mind powerups to further lower your cost. Realy untill the devs fix it there is not much you can do about ham costs other than food. and the good food to get rid of special cost will fill you up to much to keep constantly dosed up on...so you got to go brandy and stims.

Having to keep healing yourself will lower your dps as you will have to stop shooting for a round to heal but you can still take some good missions. Get yourself a nice chest plate or ubese jacket with high kin resist and maby energy if your doing faction missions. The encumberance on that wont hurt your mind to much and stims will fix the rest. Depending on race etc you can probably get away with a good 8 shots or so inbetween stims. Also it might not hurt to find a good doc to craft you some special coustom stims made that can heal your hams 100% each shot on avrage...so if they hit low your still good. You want better than stim b's. Probably some nice d's experemented to your use level around 600 heal. Im saying D's because a higher level stim will have enharently higher uses so they will last you longer. B's are for novices.

I forget what the med use level is for master medic (im master doc). Also get yourself some +25 medic clothing to get a little more bang out of your stims. And it wouldent hurt to buy a probot with a 110 medical module in it. Even if you keep the probot on follow and dont use it. The 110 will realy kick up your stim amount and you might be able to have your d's crafted for all out use and only like 300 heal or so. It depends on what your hams look like wen your all done and will take some tinkering. But in the end you should be happy with it. Your also going to need a crate or two of droid batteries. I recomend geting storage 6 in the probot to hold crates of stims batteries and food in. And keep some gold on hotkey for a pintch.

Hope this helps i typed it kinda fast : )

Well, well...

I happen to be an 3/4/3/3 Carbineer andMaster Combat Medic. As far as I can see you are looking for the best way to set up your Stats for unbuffed hunting? I can tell you my way but I'm not sure if it's the best.

HUMAN

Health and Action both at 800- Notmany mid-level solo-able mobs will hit for more than this through armour, thus keeping you free of single hit kills.

Mind at 1000- You will be draining this baby alot.

Focus and Willpower both at about 5-600- You will need these to use the stims that will keep you upright.

The rest in Strength and Quickness- To help with the Carbine Specials- but only secondary consideration.

Even with these stats, I really consider myself a Carbineer before Combat Medic. CM just lets me heal myself and others and throw a few poisons around. By healing yourelf, you can throw those high HAM specials out all day. This works fine for PvE.

I consider these stats to be the best for solo PvE without buffs. But you have to take armour into account- I only wear light armours like Stormtrooper or Ubese or a little bit of Composite.

PvP however, is a totally different beast.

WOW!!

this is AWSOME STUFF. thank you both VERY much.

Quandry you have given me some GREAT ideas. for as long as i have played medic (every character build) somehow i NEVER came up witha macro with the clearCombat cue in it... i must be blind. you other suggestions are gold as well.

weurger, i am playing a human and have my stats set up pretty close to what you have suggested, i will make some final adjustments to quickness and strength moving the points to willpower.

again, this is exactly what i needed and i thank you both for sharing your thoughts on the matter

OH! i almost forgot, is that DH17 worth the 10k i spent getting it together?

here are the two macros i use that would apply for a medic:

heal damage self

/ui action clearCombatQueue;
/healDamage self;

heal damage others

/ui action clearCombatQueue;
/healDamage;

and 10k seems just fine for that weapon...it realy varies depending on the server and smith. But either way 10k wont take you long to make back so its not to bad : )

That carbine is IDEAL for taking down lairs since it is fast, has low HAM costs and has high damage. It is not good for taking down creatures because it has no AP. So, anything with energy resist will be stealing away greatly from this guns damage. However, lairs have zero armor so the dh17 is awesome for blasting the lairs with and not wearing down the durability on your expensive other carbines.

I carry a damage sliced dh17 for this exact reason.

thanks for the macros!

novamarine it is funny you should say that because after trying it out for a while in PvE i realized that the carbine would pretty well serve as my lair-killer. spamming specials at the lair, it takes no time at all to dispatch it and move on to the next mission
