Thread: Fusion Generators

Actually, dilithium crystals were used in Star Trek as a means of controlling a matter-antimatter reaction, as a inhibitor, somewhat similar to the use various graphite composites are put to today in fission reactors.
Star Trek's version of M/AM was deuterium collected magnetically in the collectors at the front of the engine nacelles, combined with a magnetically stored quantity of anti-hydrogen.
And today's version of fusion does actually work better with the semi-stable isotope of helium, Helium-3. This symmetrically fused to produce one stable helium atom, plus energy. Work with TOKOMAK is well on it's way to making this method more practical.
Basically, when you want to change the subatomic sturcture of something, it's easier to work with an atom that's ready to change, takes less energy to make it change state. Until you hit the Iron limit, then it takes more energy to put the two components together than you can usefully extract.
Hmm.. seems I'm behind on my fusion knowledge, last time I looked they were still working on heavy water ( 1pt in every 6000pts ofsea water, therefore plentiful
which is D2O and not H2O as normal water, deuterium atoms are basically hydrogen atoms with one extra neutron (an isotope of hydrogen).
Is there some place I could do some quality reading on current fusion developments or can you recommend a book?
Fusion Ion Generators are THE best power source collector available at this time.
They cost the same maintenence as both Wind and Solar generators: 1440 per day
They take up the same amount of lots: 1 each
They bring in power at the highest rate of any harvester: 13 kg/hour (or 13 units per minute)
You must place them on a radioactive mineral source. These rotate and shift like all other resources. If they leave the planet they are usually back in less than a day. The best part about this source is it's very easy to find over 80%.
On an 84% spot I was getting about 20,000 units every day.
Have to say, I've just started making these and they really do rock! I also play on Radiant and alas, after last night's resource shift, Tatooine is no longer home to radioactives *sobs* - which is why it no longer shows up on the survey.

Doesn't it take about 2500 a day to run a fusion gen ? Personals are 750 a day though, not 1440. Fusion gens are still the best way to bring in power though. Getting roughly 16k+ a day on an 80% spot.
All power generators cost 1440 per day. The "personal" power harvester is Wind, it's always been 1440.
