I figure this will backfire and ultimately hurt us.
People like decorating their houses in a specific way and once they get everything positioned they don't want to mess with it again until they decide to redecorate.
Unless there is some sort of "lightbulb" introduced into the system that lets people recharge their lights without requiring them to pick them up, people will just decide that lights are more trouble than they're worth and will stop buying them.
This was the danger of them when they were first introduced, but the fact that they never burned out unless picked up was what gave them longevity.
I agree.
My thought is they definitely had something with the original bug for lights which would work nicelyfor furniture decay. What might work is if they made furniture decay over a period of like 3 months. After that three months, if an individual picked up that furniture they couldn't put it back down. The person would have three options: Destroy it, sell it to a junk dealer, or use one of those resources recyclers. Thoughts?
Actually you might not be far wrong, it may be that the original bug that stopped them from burning out in the first place was inadvertantly fixed when they bugged something else hehe

Is it possible that this is actually a new bug of some kind?

TH missed a patch note that is potentially going to affect Architects even more than the 5 crate OMU's.
Player crafted lights that reach 0 lifespan will now become "burnt out" and no longer provide light.

I agree with you, some form of a lightbulb/re-lighter kit would be great and would make them worthwhile, as it is I fear this will cause people to say "why bother" and use the default internal building lights and torches/streetlamps which last forever.
I hope this is a bit of code they can keep on TC and hold it there until the 'lightbulb' is ready, might be worth you or Dvnce suggesting it to the team. (Argue that they did it before with LoS / Theatre Manager quests code on TC so there should be no problem with doing it here)

Where is this posted? I can't find this anywhere.
Ok, I misunderstood. I thought the yellow bit was supposed to be a quote of a patch note the dev's posted or something.
