Dayin, I can understand that, people just have different opinions of what a fair value is and what goes into the cost calculation to determine that.

Its when people start name calling that it gets to be a problem

Not me

Does this mean you are going to stop your barrage of posts about your idea of what a resource unit is worth and what is an acceptable multiple of that subjective figure to use as a pricing scheme? For someone who claims to be against fixed and controlled pricing you sure seem to put a lot of effort into supporting such a system. Either you are willing to let the free market dictate price or you aren't. Any pricing scheme tied directly to number of resource units and/or subjectively set cost of those units is much closer to a fixed price than to a free market.

well, i wasn't necessarily referring to this thread. But to answer that, I think most people attach a bad connatation (sp?) when being referred to as a communist. Whether thats right or wrong can be discussed in a completely different forum

Two Head point to the post where I told you what you should charge... then we can talk. I have only argued against people that try to tell me what I am supposed to charge, or others what they are supposed to charge. I have also given my opinion of the future of the market and what I think it means. You are free to charge all you want and I wont complain, it is you that complain about what other people charge not me.

Ropock, I’m notsure most people do, maybe I hang around with a different crowd than you do. But I never meant that as any kind of insult. Most of the people that I know of that despise the word communist don’t really know what the word means. I figured I was hanging around a more intelligent crowd here. I am certain you know what I meant, I know you well enough to know you have a solid IQ and some education..

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=architect&message.id=17992&highlight=#M17992
"The standard price for any archetect item can be figured at 3.5 cr per resource unit that goes into it."

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=architect&message.id=18038&highlight=#M18038
"I never gouge customers for resrouces at 3cr per unit. I generally charge 2 to 2.5 for base resources, and then 3 to 4 for finished products."

I could find quite a few more examples, but I think these two illustrate the point very well. You have fixed a "standard price" at 3.5 credits per resource and then declared that charging more than your fixed price would be to "gouge customers".

Now if you would be so kind as to point out where I have complained about what others charge? Perhaps in the first few days after release I may have said something along those lines, but I soon realized that there is more to marketing our products than price competition alone. I have said before and will say again, lowballers are my best source of business. After waiting a few days in a discount architect's backorder queue my prices look very tempting to those with an inclination to purchase sooner rather than maybe later. I encourage price differential in the market as price combined with service provided are the only factors to set us apart.

Rather than driving the market as you imagine, a small time operator such as yourself only helps to define operations such as mine to the customer as superior in terms of service, demonstrating the added value they receive for paying me for their product now as opposed to paying you less when you get around to their order. If you respond by telling me that you no longer have the week or longer backorder queue you had just a few days ago then we can only assume that either you lied then, are lying now, or your market share is dropping rather than increasing as you claim. I guess you could say that you have increased your efficiency, but since you've made it clear that you don't move your harvesters to maximize resource production in favor of saving redeeding fees, I rather doubt that would be very believable either.

Even if you are half the malicious predator that Sam Walton was, and thats way more than any human should be , you will never follow in his footsteps as each day brings us all closer to market saturation. I know, you are counting on your good name to somehow help you when the time comes that virtually no one needs to purchase any more architect goods, but you have to understand that a business with millions of credits in reserve will be in a position to easily underprice you out of the market even if they have to sell at a loss. I mean as fan of Walmart you have to see this, that was Sam's plan all along. Move into a market, sell at a loss to drive existing businesses out of the market, enjoy your monopoly. Your good name will mean nothing to discount customers if someone else is selling below you, they are price motivated and brand loyalty will mean little or nothing to them when compared with saving credits.

Now this being an open discussion board you are free to keep up with the gouging and communist remarks. Far be it from me to tell you to stop. You will have to get used to the fact that instead of angering folks with your amazing business prowess as you seem to want to, you just end up making folks either mad at you for insulting them, or as in my case, they continue to point out your logical errors. Maybe tomorrow we discuss how Walmart would have turned out if Sam had based his sales pricing on raw material costs rather than the cost of the actual goods heh.

Thanks Tued for that ernest and accurate announcement, there is a market saturation approaching.

I have dealt with youin the first few weeks, Tued. I have always found you to be honest on the situation.

I created furniture to excess to fund my own Harvestors, Training and Expenses.Iwatched the saturation mark rising quickly on small house deeds, then followed by a field test of Large Beds. I reached a saturation in three days, afterwhich I expanded into other types of Furniture. Dont get me wrong, Large Beds continued to sell, but I went from sellingforty a night to ten. Weekends are always nuts.

Using two accounts I followed the trend of over producing for two weeks.

Week One

Monday: 45 Large Beds, 42 sold

Tuesday: 45 Large Beds, 44 Sold

Wednesday: 45 Large Beds, 44 Sold

Thursday: 45 Large Beds,25 Sold

Friday: 45 Large Beds,20 Sold

Saturday: 95 Large Beds, 90 Sold

Sunday: 85 Large Beds, 75 Sold

Week Two

Monday: 45 Large Beds, 12 sold

Tuesday: 45 Large Beds,10 Sold

Wednesday: 45 Large Beds,11 Sold

Thursday: 45 Large Beds,6 Sold

Friday: 45 Large Beds,10 Sold

Saturday:45 Large Beds,30 Sold

Sunday: 45Large Beds, 23 Sold

Market Saturation will occure, dont undersell yourself.

It would take time but the best way to play the market would be to price goods at a certain price ... if they move faster than you can replace then raise the prices a little .... if they move slower than you can replace lower the prices a little. it requires you to pay more attention to your market but it is a good method to use in maintaining your business.

1. Always have product available.... nothing is worse than going to a store to find that they have nothing or very little to offer.( I understand alot of vendors are empty because of the current method venders use to charge maintenance. Hopefully the devs will fix that.)

2. Always have reserve capital to keep your business functioning during periods of downtime. (really bite to find a store occasionally closed because of slow sales. I'd buy if you were open!)

3. Location Location Location. I am going to go to what's close to me first and if they don't cater to my needs then I'll go further out. (At least until vehicles come out.)

oh and I didnt mean 4cpr I meant 5 .......shows me for not paying attention

Two head, I was talking aobut my prices and my gouging them for more, I did not and never have told you what your shoud set your prices at. You dont like my prices and complain about it, I dont care. You are the one complaining about what other people set their prices at not me.

I will set mine howver I want and you can set yours however you want, get over it.

So what you're saying is, if other architects don't have two accounts and generous friends, we can't hope to compete with you?

I mean, I appreciate you have fun doing this, but isn't there also the issue of a player-driven economy? And in that case I suppose it's in everyone's best interest to sell for whatever price they deem reasonable, but then, doesn't that bring the market down to your price since customers will always seek the lowest prices?

For some of us, maintaining harvesters and obtaining energy IS considered overhead and a burdon.

Oh well, I can't criticise your decision as we each play the game how we enjoy it most.

Two Head, just ignore this Dayln... person. They are not even using their character name like many honest players who have nothing to hide. If this was who they are in gameI doubt they would be preaching in such a manner and boasting about their business success and insulting other people on this board. So instead they use a different name and that false persona has the bad rep, not their actual character. Clever, yes, but clever does not = better than anyone, asDayln seems to 'act'.

Theycan post whateverthey want, say whateverthey want, sell for whateverthey claim. half if not all of it ismost likely exagerated/false, but who can say, we dont even knowDayln's real char name or server sothey are nothing, and nothinghe/she/it can say matters or is even true. They may not even bean architect or even an SWG player. Just someone on here messing with ppls heads for their own personal pleasure and feeling of power.

If ppl knew who they really were in game... some of their potential customers wouldnt buy from them and spread the bad mojo about said character.

Just ignore he/she/it/griefer/troll and stay happy

Not only have I built a house in practice mode ( ouch that hurt ) but worse I have removed a house form a vendor that I then destroyed but forgot to actually retrieve the item ( DOH! ).

( you have to excuse my starry eyed groupies, they follow me around from post to post because after all, I am the most important thing on these boards to them. )

Dayln is not unusual - exept for the fact that he actually posts an alternative veiw of our game.

There are many players that think like him - but do not post much.

I will call you names -- Hobbits - as you know Hobbits dont like new stories and contradictions to their ideas, they prefer to hear something they recognise and agree with.

I am a solo player with 10 lots only - and I am undercutting Dayln by quite an amount.(and have since beta)

I built up my fleet of heavys on my own and am proud of it . I know how to use them effectively - and do.
