Ok, Just for some quick background, I'm a novice architect that just made it to Buildings I and Installations I last night.

Now, I'm not exactly sure how I'll do things as time goes on. But, right now, this is what's going on. First and foremost, I have generous friends. A friend of mine from work actually gave me 20K credits the very first time I logged onto the game. So, that helped quite drastically. As far as my XP grind goes, well...I have a VERY GOOD and VERY NICE Architect mentor that I work under. He lets me make wall units with his resources to grind with. So, no money out of my pocket, and I got like 100K exp in about an hour last night.

This game for me is fun. Dealing with extractors is just plain fun. So, personally, I don't consider the overhead of extractors and power for them to be part of the architect field for me. That is just part of gameplay. If I was an architect or not, I'd be mining (whether it be for stims or just to sell on the open market). So, the extractors and power plants I get are not what I consider overhead.

Also, I have ways of obtaining enough credits to keep my structures maintained for days and still have plenty left over to buy things for myself (like better extractors). I'm fully self funded (both in resources and money), so I don't have to owe anyone anything. I also bought another copy of the game to get 10 more lots so that I don't have to borrow or lease lots from anyone. Power is the only thing that's biting me right now as I have very little of that...barely enough to power my current three med mineral and 2 personal mineral extractors.

So, all that said...with ways to get xp taken care of as well as not having to worry about credits to run my extractors or lots, I can take it easy when it comes to crafting. And I don't craft to make money, I craft because I LOVE crafting in this game. Just sitting there crafting 15 wall units last night to get that 100K exp was a GREATLY enjoyable time.

So, all that said, I could easily sell small houses for 6K and feel fully justified. I LOVE what I do. I LOVE crafting. And, I have the friends and money to fully support my own business w/out having to take selling structures into play at all.

Now, I don't ever plan on trying to undercut other archs (esp my mentor who is already selling at low prices compared to most). But, at the same time, I don't do this for money. Just knowing that somewhere Naboo there is a house standing that I built is satisfaction enough for me.

So, credits or no credits, I intend to stay in this business for a good while to come. I LOVE IT.

I guess posting a new thread stems from the fact that I have been on many other message boards where when the number of replies gets high, no one reads the thread anymore. I just have to get it through my head that people do read 'em here.

6k!!!!! argh .... j/k ... I've given up being angry at undercutters. If you can stay alive at those prices then more power to you. Means you're more willing to sacrifice/work to get what you need.

I think the problem alot of people have is that architect is not what they first thought it would be. Making furniture? performing mining operations? 1 completely useless skill lines? I just wanted to design and build structures. We don't design anything and because we spend alot of our time mining or running missions to pay for mining we rarely build structures. Oh and to top it off the one renewable market we could have has been automated so we don't even make them. You purchase faction based structures using faction points from your local recruiter ..... great ...... but on a positive note I really do enjoy sitting around chattign while making structural components. I am currently not selling a single thing and wont until I build up an inventory and capital. When I have a backpack of deeds I will start selling them again at my prices which currently is 4cpr. Its high compared to whats out there but the product will be on the shelves and they wont have to wait.

For soembody who is not in a PA and works 50+ hours a week IRL this to me is the best way to go.

Ok Ill buy that.

It is nice to see someone that is unconserned and is selling for what makes sense to them and ignoreing everyone else. Heck you sell for less than even I do, and I am a low seller. But I dont feel threatened at all.

I am glad it is working for you

My partners get resrouces free from me and I keep thier machines running at my own expenses because my priofits are so high. They feel guilty about it, I tell them not too, I love what I am doing and am having fun running my business and making enough moeny to provide them that service.

And I still sell for less than 90% of the people posting here, but not you

Enjoy

It would take time but the best way to play the market would be to price goods at a certain price ... if they move faster than you can replace then raise the prices a little .... if they move slower than you can replace lower the prices a little. it requires you to pay more attention to your market but it is a good method to use in maintaining your business.

1. Always have product available.... nothing is worse than going to a store to find that they have nothing or very little to offer.( I understand alot of vendors are empty because of the current method venders use to charge maintenance. Hopefully the devs will fix that.)

2. Always have reserve capital to keep your business functioning during periods of downtime. (really bite to find a store occasionally closed because of slow sales. I'd buy if you were open!)

3. Location Location Location. I am going to go to what's close to me first and if they don't cater to my needs then I'll go further out. (At least until vehicles come out.)

oh and I didnt mean 4cpr I meant 5 .......shows me for not paying attention

LOL, wow an Architect AND a Free Market Capitalist?

I thought all Architects were communists?

I have noticed that, almost every architect on these forums is a communist, they want fixed prices and controls.

Not me

actually, while there are a few calling for those types of things, the majority simply want people to wake up and put an value to the amount of work they have to do to sell something.

The vast majority don't want price controls, they want fair value.
