Why not only have the apartment buildings in the big NPC cities? That way there is no chance of a player deciding to no longer be a slum lord and making everyone homeless and I think it would reduce all the small houses and shops that spring up around places like Coronet and Theed. I always thought it'd be cool to actually be a citizen of Mos Eisley, and there are plenty of nothing buildings to spare. Of course there'd be the extra lag, and people spamming from their windows. And I guess it would put a damper on the player cities. But other than that smooth sailing.
Then one of the main ideas, for architects to earn more profits, would be gone.
True. But with a pre-set number of available rooms to rent not everyone would be able to get in. And there are a lot of other ways to help archs make more money like adding decay to more than just the lamps and candles. Or color customization to furniture. Or making more ore spawn. But in reality they'll probably never implement any apartment idea because it sounds pretty complicated.

You would have to make it so they would have to declare there selfto the apartment that way the owner could not destory it when there are people in the apartments. This would solve that problem. Also it could be like a city hall were u could change owner if u wanted, but doing this it will only be able to be placed in a player city.

I 've been wanting to do this, in fact........
How I think an appartment would work
First you build a large-style house or a set of two medium houses fitted together.
Then you set up a "manager" that would begin paying the maintenance, and would decorate the "lobby" and any "atriums" in the building's set up.
Appartments would hold long term residents and you could even have "hotels" that can be used by players just visiting that planet.
Then other players can join the apartment by paying a certain % of the house feeand would have a room or two to themselves, where they can decorate as they please or just use as storage.
Little perks could be added, like maybe a lounge area on one of the rooms or a "contenental breakfast" of travel biscuts, or take a small fountain and make a pool out of it(lol)
What do you all think? Any more ideas I'm open to them

Cities will lose status' all over the servers as citizen counts crumble. That's going to temporarily hurt till new citizens can be found.
Apartments in cities might seriously hurt player cities, but it would be cool to live in a high-rise on Coronet. lol

I wouldn't be against NPC city apartments. But the rent on such things should be outrageous!

I love the idea and think it would be a great thing to get in the game!
However I feel the devs wouldnt allow people to be landlords any time soon, it just brings up the whole griefing concept like what happened with the militia when they first implemented cities. Because of a select few who abuse the power the devs give out, this ruins the fun for the rest of us.
But if the whole bank idea can be done, it would make an excellent addition, I won't have to walk 200m between storage houses anymore!

I love this idea, since most NPC cities are now empty. Doesn't do archies a lot of good, but it sure would be nice to see Keren have people again.
