Thread: Droid Detection Device Delusion Getting Out of Hand

Lol, good point.

3. What radius is it protecting and how is it protecting? You're trying to tell me that the Devs have developed a product (by accident and quietly) that recognizes walls as barriers and a door as an entrance point ... but can't get my Merchant to stop greeting speederbikes when they zip past my house?!

Oh good lord. So it only works for bomb droids? Doubt it.
It was more likely droid pathing or something like that than the fact it actually works. Come on people, lets not get ridiculous now. Next thing we'll be arguing the existance of Santa Claus.
Don't know if it works only for Bomb droids, but that's the only droid jedi are worried about. So that's the only one that matters

You make some good points, Sevardos. But let me play Devil's Advocate with your remarks.
1. There's no experimentation shown on the deed for vehicles either.
True. However, you can see the end result by the number of hitpoints on the vehicle. Therefore, experimentation is having an effect on the vehicle. You can't say that for a DDD. Anyways, I only made that point because experimentation was mentioned ealier.
2. There's no on/off radial menu for lamps.
But there is a message that indicates whether the light is active or burnt out. You actually know if it's doing something. Again, you can't say that for the DDD.
3.Vendors yelling at speederbikes is a new bug. So obviously, the Devs tinkered around with something to make that happen (though probably accidentally). But who knows what else they tinker with?
No, it's not a new bug. It's an old bug with a new twist to it. Vendors always greeted players that would zip by on their bikes or walk by the house. The difference now is that it used to use the players name - now it will say 'Speederbike' instead of the players name. It will also greet other vendorsinside the houseso it's more of whatever parameters they set for the greeting is messed up. Doesn't change the fact they don't recognize walls as barriers.
As for the "what else they tinker with" - a bug doesn't generally add new functionality. DDD's were furniture before the bomb droids, they are furniture now. The Dev's would have had to make a concious and deliberate effort to add this new functionality to the DDD. Which begs the question ... if they did, then why the heck keep it a secret and not add it into the patch notes?! To me, that would be a big deal ... right up there with Furniture now holding items. Makes no sense.
4. Vehicles have no components either (except the AV-21) and they have a lot of functionality.
Ok. I'll give you that one. However, it seems strange to me that making a Torch is more complex than a DDD if it has the functionality that is being claimed. Again, doesn't make sense.
5. Why would the Devs not announce the change? Typical lack of communication? They wanted to add some "mystery" elements to being a Jedi? Again, who knows?
They don't lack communication if it's a good news story. This is not a character progression type of thing or a new quest that don't give the details. The only mystery is why people insist this thing works.
Silly me, I was thinking I wished I was a Jedi so I could test this. But then I realized I just need to find a BH or other player that can use mouse bombs. I'll set it up and report my results back to the forum.
Sounds good. However, make sure you're standing on the same spot when doing the tests. I'm suspecting now that it's the pathing that gets messed up. It happens with my droids now and I don't have a DDD in my house.

I'm SURE that I saw Santa over in Wayfar. In the cantina. AFK-dancing.

It does work. I have a Jedi, and when I was on the terms I had a guildie pull me as a mission. I walked inside my house, he targeted me and sent in a droid. W/O the device I got hit and took damage... we waited for the TEF to wear off so I gcould go back inside the house. I put the droid detection device by my front door, and he sent another to me. I was in the same spot, he had me targeted just like before, but this time it stopped at my front door and would not count down
Did you do more than one test?
Try doing 10 tests with the DDD and 10 tests without it. Then tell us what happens.
You have not demonstrated causality. You have not shown any tie between the 2 things.
As far as we know there is a % chance that a droid bomb will stop following its target or not enter a house and all you saw was something like that happened. It could have nothing whatsoever to do with the DDD.
Analogy: The police were chasing me in my red car and they caught me, but next time they were chasing me in my blue car but I eluded them. Therefore the police are afraid of the color blue.
I drive a black car so they can't see me at night.
