As a newer DE I didn't look forward to crafting the hundreds of components by hand so I bought a factory. Stuck a blueprint in, resources and set it going. I produced all the items just fine, but I got no XP after I logged off. Is this normal? It's so amazingly slow it makes no sense to sit there while it works.

You have to be logged in and in the same region as the factory. For instance if your factory is outside of theed, once you see the message "you have entered Theed" you will no longer get exp. My suggestion is to put your factory next to your house and then leave your char in your house while you sleep in real life. He will get the exp from the goods your factory produces. As a matter of fact, leveling for DE is so ungodly boring, this is really the only way to make it up the DE tree with your sanity intact.

I am making my first Equipment factory deed tonight which will allow me to train installations 1 and make other factory types as well. I am hoping to sell the factory I make tonight (assuming I don't crit fail more than twice :smileyindifferent I realized I don't have a clue what can be produced in an equipment factory since I have never used one - is it the same stuff that can be made with a General crafting tool ? Thanks in advance for any help here. Also what should I be charging for an Equipment factory - 40k ?

you can produce Weapons, Droid, and general Items.

Equipment Factory = Weapons, Droids, and general Items

Wearable Factory = clothing and armor

Food Factory = Food and Chemical

Structure = Structure and Furniture

The price of a factory for me is 45K. I've seen it go as low as 30K thanks to the lowballing PA architects (not all PA architects lowball, but if they do, it's one of the worst). I've also seen it go up as high as 60K. It really depends which server, planet, and city you're in. I'd say go for a good medium first and work from there.

I'm not entirely sure that you would gain xp from a factory you don't own. As I understand it, the xp gain is about 10% of what it would be if you made the item manually, and only works if you're online and near your factory.

The factory is slow, the 10% is negligible, and it may not work if it's a friend's factory. Unless you need the factory components to make items you plan to sell, or you have a bulk order for something, I wouldn't bother.

Whoever plants the factory (i.e. whoever owns it) will receive the emails. The XP gained is minimal.

Equipment factory makes lotsa stuff, weapons included. I use it for making the electronics that master artisan makes because they are needed for power cores and crafting stations.

Btw,why did you ask this on the architect forum?
