Thread: What do you plan on for a pricing structure

People that are saying that someone will not pay these prices, the only thing I can say is you are fooling yourselves and you are setting the tone for architect deflation round two.

I put 4 mediums I made last night that only rated 6Kg/H not 7 and varried hoppers of 58k to 62k. They where all put on my vendor for 25k (just to see if I got any bites). All 4 sold within 30 minuites. 2 to one person and the other 2 to two other seperate people.

These where not even top end. Demand for them is going to be high. If you don't adjust your prices accordingly I think you are doing yourselves and the architect community a great injustice.

Now please don't think I am out to rape people, thats not what this is about. The numbers i origionaly came up with are off the top of my head and certainly open to modification. I was aiming towards my percieved server values of 10cpu for highly experimented items. (weaponsmiths not included, god bless you, you rich sob's lol)

You really need to keep one thing in mind. These harvesters are a whole new world. I've seen people ask for a new class of super harvesters something that went above heavies. Now in a sense we got that they just aren't new shcematics. You need to break your mindset of who is going to buy mediums? I'll tell you who, every single person that was content with the old heavies. They are the equivilent after all with a smaller hopper (which will still last 5 adys or so on a high%) and LOWER Maintenance and power. Prices should reflect accordingly is all I saying. If they dont, i'll see you back here in a month when you are all whinning that your have to sell at 3cpu again AND you have to hunt for good materials to even get that. (of course this is still going to happen if these dam things dont decay anyway.)

*steps down from soap box*

I logged off this morning after being up all night, only because the servers were coming down. I must have easily travelled 10,000m surveying and moving harvesters. I am not actually sure if my high capacity flora farm is actuallyout and running right now as I had 30 seconds to get it running before the server kicked me out.

Readingyour enthusiasmabout finding all high quality metals in which to experiment with so that we canget these new harvesters just hit me the wrong way. I thought about all of the countless times I went through my survey devices surveying for existing resources last night just to find a decent percentage in which to lay my hoppers down on. If I have had to pass by several of them because they were not high quality enough, I proably would have broke down and cried! lol

Come to think of it, it would have been even more difficult to find highest qualilty ofresources right after a resource shift because you are not allowed to actually sample them for a few hours, so how in the heck would I have known anyway.

So your enthusiasm on what we are now able to do in creating these harvesters, just exhausted me. I've already worked extremely hard to acquire the wealth that I have. The thought of working even harder to acquire even more wealthjust tires me out. I'll leave all of these new developments to theyoung Novice Architects who are hungry for wealth and fame. As for me, I have an appointment with a Galactic Travel Agency in Theed this weekend. Its time to see the sights.

Reeka, we dont setthe price, the market does. Right now there are too many suppliers and not enough buyers, that will force the price down. Those that "stick to thier prices" will be left with no sale while those that adjust to the market will continue to sell.

Dayln,

I don't agree. While in theory you are right, it is not the reality of this game. Before this patch I consistanly sold items at 1.5-2cpu over the "normal" market value, lowballers exluded.

My cutomers for the most part know that I am not the cheapest around. They also know if they come to me they will have their final product either immediatly, or within the hour and that I will always have supplies on hand for any reasonable order.

You see there is a big difference between the independant (myself) and the PA architects that are spoon fed resources with over 60 heavies running. They are the ones flooding the market. We dictate the price, there will be a huge demand at least for the next week or two and supplies will drop. If a PA architect wants to throw 30 heavies on his vendor that pull 10Kg/H an hour for 100k more power too him, you are benifiting yourself (although not imo since it is not worth my time or effort to sell at that price) not the economy. I will most likley buy them myself and sell them for a real profit, thanks guys for doing my job for me so i can make money with zero effort. Thats business. I love buying lowballer goods, and turning a profit on them. If i could find a lowballer that could meet his demands i would stop harvesting completley. Hell i could even drop architect.

Either way, the damand will be rising, and supplies will be dropping. So imo we should set the tone for the market. It will never happen though, you will always have to many fly by night crafters out there that are either willing to work for penuts, or are too scared to charge the true value of the equipment. Glad its just a game and not the real world. I'll be charging what I feel is appropriate, and everyone else can work 10x harder. Money in this game = pointless. Its just a fun diversions and economic mini game. Key word being game.

Reeka, I am the only architect in my PA and I run all the harvestors myself, I am not spoon fed anything. I do get the advantage ofover 20 lots as oppsoed to the usual 10.

I make the runs to the harvestors, I pay all the pay mantenance and I power them all up. I do have to get my PA friends to move them when resrouces shift but I find the locations for them first. They dont pull resources, I do that.

The ONLY difference between you and I is the number of lots I control, but that does NOT change the price of pulling a resource out of the groud, 10 lots would slow me down, but it would not change my prices. because the cost of extracton would remain the same ( with the exception of the fact that I can leave a harvestor on the minor resources where with 10 lots Id have to rotate and re-deed more )

Demand wont be rising, everything we sell lasts forever and there are more and more architects selling stuff to fewer and fewer customers. As long as supply is larger than demand then prices will remain low.

Your fly by night little guys dont make a drop in a bucket, I hate to say this, but it is me, and those like me that are your competition. I am not alone, there are a lot of MA's that sell at prices similar to mine. And for the same reasons I do.

Dayln,

I appologise, that PA comment was not directed at you. Sorry for the missunderstanding. I was reffering in general to the PA architects that ARE spoonfed resources. I know of a PA on my server that has at least 4 MA's all in fightng on prices and have an exorbinant amount of lots available to them. This is eveident by their vendor stock (when they are stocked) I don't know about you but I don't keep 5 PA halls and half a dozen heavies on my vendors.

Independants like us opperate on different levels. You work with 20 lots, some work with 10, I personaly work with 60 (only 30 i keep available for harvesters). You seem to imply that you sell at lower prices that's fine. In reality if you mine your own resources your cost per unit is 1c per unit (It is really much lower but i dont feel like doing the math ) Then your break even price on a heavy would be roughly 27k. So if you sell them at 28k you are technicly making a profit. So feel free to sell for what you want. If you want to sell heavies for 100k fine, 90 fine too, hell sell them for 50k. I will be selling mine for a lot more. If you sold heavies at 50k and are working with 20 lots I dont know how you would keep up with your demand unless you tell people sure i can have it ready for you by next week. Thats not how I choose to run my business. I charge what I feel is fair, people WILL pay it knowingly because of other things I offer. It gives me room to offer nice discounts to repeat customers, bulk orders etc. and like i said it gates me from constantly running out of supplies. I consider my business to be very successful, I have no where near the money that some architects have but I have a lot more than most as well. Since i really need money for nothing other than maintenance and harvesters the number does nothing but keep rising, thats the real problem with this game.

This doesn't mean one way is right and one way is wrong. We have different business stratedgies thats all it comes down to.

As for the demand, i don't agree. And I think you may have misunderstood me. If the experimentation with the current rates is truely here to stay, there will be a large rise in demand on the short term. And by short term I mean the next week maybe two. Then we will be right back in the same boat i agree, and mainly because like you pointed out these things last forever. But thats no reason not to capitalize on it over the next few weeks.

As for you last comment I am not sure what your talking about. I don't know your pricing structure or your reasons for it. I may have missed the boat somewhere but I am stumped on this one.

One more quick side note. Imo this "player economy" is a joke and broken at its very roots. There is no "real" way to go out of business or not turn a profit unless you are just doing something horribly wrong or can't keep up with the micromanaging.

Some very simple rules of economics apply, true. But this is not a real economy, or at least an economy that is set up to succeed and Sony better address that sooner or later. The "economy" is the only thing holding this half finished game together while they work on the rest.

The first thing I would suggest would be to get rid of missions compleley or at least remove the monetary reward system from them. This is the main reason this economy is doomed regardless of what crafters do. In the real world you just can't make more money, you need something to back it up. In SWG more new credits are generated every minute. And leaving the game in a pitifully slow manner in comparison. This jacks around our "economy" like you wouldn't beleive. It allows for lowballing and tiny profit margins and being able to survive and survive well on them.

They need to either stop the influx of money into the game or come up with some serious money sinks which will do nothing but piss people off, but if they want to even begin to think about emulating a real economy then this needs to be done. Otherwise it is no holds barred and you can charge 27k for a heavy I can charge 200k and we will still both be rich in the end.

The only way you can remove missions is if you give the new guy 50k to start with. Otherwise there is no way a new guy in any profession can survive.

I understand that anyone can make anything, but you've got to be kidding me that you think your changes will stick over time. Allowing such high manipulation of harvesters is game breaking for resource gluts. The devs will put this back in order, and when they do, will you give refunds to your customer base, or just ignore them and take bad word of mouth for a while?

I'm just glutting on resources and waiting to see where things go.

I am not going to change my prices much if at all. The thought of having to travel even farther than I do now during resource shifts just makes me shudder. Even though my time is more tight than ever in playing SWG on a daily basis, I am still having fun. If I have to go search for the highest quality metalsso that I can make 20 or 30k more on a sale from my customers, then I won't be having fun anymore. I am already wealthy. I am not interested in pulling even more money from my clients in order to make me even more wealthy. For those of you that are going to go for the highest quality harvs, just make sure that you are still having fun while doing it.
