Thread: What do you plan on for a pricing structure
With experimentation on harvesters looking like it is going to stick around. I am assuming most architects are going to try and pull away from the crappy 3cpu we have to pull teeth to get.
How does everyone plan on pricing these new harvesters (which can be far superior than old ones)?
Are you planning on charging a flat cpu per harvester type, or a scaling structure based on quality (which it's not all that hard to make the best ones).
I was thinking something along the lines of a hopper / efficiency scale adding to the 3cpu people where forcing us into.
I will just use mediums as a quickexample.
My old meium price was 12k ~3.3cpu old stats and rock bottom for experimentation 4Kg/H 50K hopper
Now my thought was to add the follwing.
5Kg/H = +1CPU 6 Kg/H = +2 cpu 7Kg/H +3cpu
Hopper size .5cpu per 2500 increase.
So the new fully experimented with 950+ materials would come to 7Kg/H with a 65k hopper. That would be 9.3 cpu total which comes to around 33K for the harvester. This is quit a price jump yes, but it is also a far superior product. When someone comes to you and says that you are overpriced, you can kindly point them to the door and ask them if they would perfer to buy an old heavy for 100k with the same efficieny and only a 35K larger hopper not to mention more maintenance costs.
So what do you think? What do you plan on doing?
I made some medium minerals yesterday using zero experimentaion and using the crappiest materials I had on hand. They all came out with a base rate of 5 even without trying to make them better. If I remember right the old base rate was 4 right? So either 5 is the new base or it's bugged still. I haven't done anymore testing today yet.
Anyhow, I was considering using my current prices (3.5 cpu average) as a starting point and adding 10% for each point of extraction rate. If 100k will be the absolute minumum hopper for a heavy, I don't see hopper size affecting prices much if at all, extraction rate will be what motivates people to pay more for a harvester.
It could very well be that people will want only the absolute max possible extraction rates and that the mediocre ones won't sell for any more than our old prices, if at all.If we end up stuck with a pile of mediocre harvesters that noone wants, that will drive the maxed out ones prices up even higher.
My pricing plan will be this....
5k per extraction rate, and 1 Credit per Hopper sizze.
So... a 9 Extracton Rate, 115k hopper size Heavy Harvester will cost 160k (9x5k + 115k = 160k)
This will not work with Fusions, being they have a hopper size of 400k and extraction of 26. I'll prolly do half that for fusions. I think it'll be fair, and won't be unbalancing.
Now I just need to get more experimentation points (c:
Are we all just kidding ourselves? Do you think people are really going to support that high of price hikes for more efficient extractors?
Think about it, 15k for a medium that gets me base rate vs 45k for one that pulls 2 points higher? I just don't see that happening. A very small group of people are going to want the best of the best. Most people will be happy with base rate.
I think we finally have a way to differentiate our goods from one arch to the next. There will now be some value to being a master. But I doubt you can charge a lot more for your goods. You should be able to generate more sales by having the highest quality extractor but that is it.
I am really confused about the pricing, even with the method shown above, seems the only way I deal with the old heavy is just throw them away, after all, who want to buy a low heavy than a high medium?
Start increasing your prices to make it worthwile. For those that think pepole won't pay... you're wrong... they will pay. You just can't be manipulated into selling at what they want to pay. (which is usually 50% what you ask).
Story, I had one guy ask for a Large Gen house, I quoted 190k. He told me he only had 150k. I told him I had to get 190k. I would take resources in trade... he said... Ok... lemme go to bank... I had 190k... I lied to ya hehe.
I got 190k for a Large Gen House. You can too... just stick to your pricing levels. If they tell you what "normal price from their friend" is, tell em to go buy from their friend.
Revised from another post of mine:
Iwas thinking something like for each bonus point in extraction rate add an extra 20% and for every 5k increase in hopper size, add an extra 10% So I was making medium miners with extraction rate of 6 and hopper size around 60k. Baseline is 4 and 50k, so rather than charging the 15k for the baseline miner, I'd charge 15k + 2*(.20*15k) + .10*10k = 22,000.
I wouldn't do anything with those old deeds for at least a week. God only knows what the devs will do.
After that depends on how honest you are. A lot of players aren't going to know what they are looking at, you can probably unload the heavies on someone who doesn't know any better.
I realy wish we could re-claim deeds for a fraction of the resources in them.

Set the tone. If everyone charges X for a w00t miner, then people will have no choice but to pay X. This price X needs to be consistent between architects or we'll get pigeon-holed into a "3-4cpu price structure"_AGAIN_
A simple equation for this is:
BASE PRICE * [% INCREASE IN HOPPER SIZE + (2 * % INCREASE IN EXTRACTION RATE)]
For example: My typical heavy mineral harvy sells for 120K.
-A hopper size of 130K over 100K is a 30% increase and will therefore put the price of the harvy at 156K.
-An extraction rate of 9kg/hr over 7kg/hr is nearly a 30% increase also but seeing as a harvester that can extract quicker is better than a harvester that can hold more I double the price for the 30% increase in rate putting the harvy price at 192K from 120K.
For most miners that are filling contracts the faster the extraction rate the better.

You can examine deeds and see thier stats from the deed itself now. It shows the extraction rate of the deed on examine now. I don't believe it ever used to but I could be mistaken.
This entire change affects me "nil". I don't particularly like selling small and mediums and I never sell larges (refuse to anyways) because the money and the reward is in making full houses with interior decorating services. If I do two houses a week (rarely - mostly just do 1) I make 1.2 million cr a week. At the very end, my customer is so happy and satisfied I get my true reward.
