Thread: Buisness Ethics
Not to be offensive Orchist but I think 20k an hours is a bit of an overstatement.
As a Bounty Hunter these missions were my bread and butter. In my prime doing these nest missions I never netted 20k an hour and it certainly wasnt because I was lazy.
You cant become a BH and be lazy the 40k combat xp needed will see to that.
Also the payout on lvl 5 missions is pretty poor maybe 1.5k if your real lucky. Doing 2 of these nets you 3k per trip. You would have to do 7 trips of 2 missions to make your goal of 20k an hour of lvl 5 missions. In my experience it is NOT possible to successfully complete 14 destroy missions an hour.

Also, it's been my experience (as I'm sure many will agree with me here) that the missions on tattoine are very very easy. You can actually get 1500 cr. KREETLE missions.....lol. Money on missions doesn't come as easily on other planets. Especially Naboo......bleh.
Felonias as a consumer of your product I think I have every right to question prices and quality. These things are important to me. This has nothing to do with "Brass".
I think you made a point that I was trying to make. That is that priceing for houses is being based off of OTHER guilds profits and not your own guilds profit margin. The resources that you require DO NOT have to have specific stats to make a very viable house. This is NOT the case for the weaponsmith and armorsmith.
If they want to be competitive they need the best of the best not just any ore or any metal. Herein lies the fundamental difference between Archetects and other crafters. It is this very difference that would begin to explain the discrepancy between your profit margins and the margins of these other crafters.
Also I it has been my experience that these HIGH prices you speak of only last a short time. Quickly as more weaponsmiths gain the ability to make them the prices drop. Usually it is the high end weapons many times these weapons are being able to be made for the first time only because SOE decided not to release all the materials at once. This causes an inflation in pricing.
My baisc point is the pricing fixture adopted here seems to be based on a falicy. Do you intend to drop your prices as the gunsmiths do? I dont think so. I also think you dont NEED to. Especially sincesomeone buys a house thats pretty much it.
Please forgive all the spelling errors.

Thanks for putting this in perspective, Barney.
I've often posted that Architects CAN'T expect to get 4-5 credits per resource like the other crafters. There are more people playing blaster-monkey who want the high-end weapons and armor, so there's more demand there. Fewer people want or need houses, so the demand is less. Plus the fact that a house is a house is a house (despite those who insists there's a difference when crafting them).
And looking at the bazaar prices on resources and using that to determine the price of a finished product is also comparing apples and oranges. You're absolutely right when you saythose bazaar prices are typically for resources with good stats or specific types, which matter not a whit to Architects. (Also, just because people are PRICING the resources at 5 credits or above doesn't mean they're actually SELLING them for that price. I wonder how many of those bazaar auctions go unsold...?)
Well I've bought 10s of thousands of resources off the bazaar and have payed from 3-6 creds/unit. So trust me they're selling. Furthermore if you want to actually be able to buy stuff from architects then you better expect to pay fair market value. A single player cannot single-handendly mine every resource he needs. There's 2 ways; buy off the bazaar the extra stuff you need; or get friends that will let you use their lots. 4-5 creds/unit for a completed product is SO more than fair that anyone complaining about paying that price is kidding themselves.
Imagine this for one moment. A laser rifle uses 399 resources. Smith'N'Wessen on Eclipse sells them for 20K (if memory serves me). That equals to 50.1 creds/unit resource. Is 5 creds/unit so much to ask?
Barney,
Your post would have a great deal more weight if you tried to live a single day in the life of an Architect
There is absolutely _no_ reason none whatsoever for Architects to sell a large home for less then 150k for example. You want lower prices, we can't give them, anyone who does is loosing money. Every other tradeskill rakes in cash hand over fist, people seem to think we are making money because of the high total prices but they don't look at the bottom line. With the same amount of ingame time, and the same amount of resources an architect will make 1/5th what a DE or Armorsmith makes.
Architect prices are going to continue going in one direction, up, up, up because those of us that have put in the time to make Master have a collective understanding that there is no reason to sell for less. We spent a great deal of time getting our skill and you want us to sell our wares for less then the raw materials cost ? Get real.
1) architects will not "settle" on 5-15k for a small house. They will have plenty of money for their harvester upkeep and other things. Who knows, maybe a small house will go for what it does in my area: 50-75k. I know land value isn't important in SWG and that is part of what drives up housing prices, but if we get enough players and structures, it may be an issue.
2) non-crafters that save their money up can actually afford to pay higher prices. Right now, with the economy as new as it is, not a lot of people are bringing in the mega-millions running missions.
Also don't forget that there is a column in the architect tree that is dedicated to experimentation. Although this is not implemented right now, one day, houses may start falling apart or harvesters will have bigger hoppers depending on the quality of the structure. I doubt the developers are just going to sit there and leave this entire column alone.
There may be potential for architects to charge 50-75 credits/unit, just as weaponsmiths do. Can you imagine the demand for a harvester that mines 95% more minerals per day? Just wait until the economy picks up and wait and see what the developers have in store for us in the near future.
There is no price fixing going on! really!

You can EASILY do 2 destroy missions in 10 minutes. Pick them in the same direction, get to the first one, from max range use your high damage specials on the POI, if the mobs come at you, hit burst run and circle strafe the POI until it is destroyed then run towards your 2nd MWP. Once there, kill any mobs at the POI, attack the POI and as soon as it is destroyed start heading back to town, do not hang around to kill any spawned mobs. If you picked your missions carefully this is extremely easy to do.
If you don't want to combat to make money, place harvestors and dump your resources on the bazaar at 3-5 credits per unit and viola you have easy money.
That said, I price ALL of my craftables under Master Artisan, Master Architect at least 4 credits per resource and as high as 8 credits per resource for items that require specific hard to obtain materials. I have a stead stream of customers that have no problem paying those prices. If people were unable to make money quickly, then I wouldn't have PA orders for 276K credits almost every time I log into the game.
Stop and think about it. You are buying a HOUSE. Your being able to aquirea house is, and I might add SHOULD be, quite the accomplishment .
I have no problem selling structures at 4-5 credits per resource when weaponsmiths are charging 3000 credits for a scout blaster. Do the math. A scout blaster requires ONLY 111 resources to build. So they are charging their customers over 27 credits per resource. Even if they went and had to pay 10 credits per resource for high quality materials off the bazaar, they are making over 100% profit.
Most of the Master Weaponsmiths on my server charge 11,000 for a high quality FWG5 pistol and they only require 147 resources to build. That works out to over 74 credits per resource.
And you have the brass to come in here and question architects that are only charging 4-5 credits per resource for structures??
Whatever....
