I thought the devs had said this method could still crit fail as normal? That's what was posted WAAY back in August when this first surfaced.

this has the same chance to fail as any regular crafting.... the "exploit" part is that because resources don't clear out on the large combines you can use this as a second try if you crit the first time.

personally i use this for making furniture that i'm not renaming to save clicks and time but thats about it.

We are a dead professions, so why does anyone care about an exploit in it??

Just an observation......

Yes they posted that was fixed, but it hasn't been fixed.

Also, it started working just after a patch where they said they were going to look into the resources loss on critical for architects and said (that same patch the bug started working) that since then it would've been less an issue.

I always wondered if it was really a bug/exploit or rather a not documented attempt to fix to the trouble ..

This is an exploit plain and simple, and I am an exloiter because I use it. Now you can say im a dishonest gamer and all that stuff, but the truth is we are a broken profession, plain and simple, our items do not decay and a crit failure and devastate someone. Also, becuse of this exploit other architects can sell for much cheaper because they dont have to worry about the failure like some do. Yes they cheat, but you know they currently have such a HUGE advantage over you its not funny, and thats the reason we should ALL use this exploit, number one it evens the playing field, making us all even. Number 2 it gets fixed, so that EVERYONE will always be equal. Capiche?

This isn't an exploit per se. It's a shortcut. Any yes, it does critical fail. When you see your crafting kit doesn't have a countdown, u'd know it had a critical. Just that no message pops up to tell u.

I think the most common excuse for using this macro that I've heard in game is that critical fails are happening more than they should, that somehow the game says you crit when you wouldn't normally. I dunno if this is true, but my mon cal master architect sure does seem to crit fail a lot for someone with high structure creation mods. Either way... the macro is only good for items you won't eperiment with, making it fairly useless for fixing harvester failures. Unless you -want- to sell 7ber heavies...

The unfortunate fact is that anything in a game intended for one purpose will also be used for one or two more, and those extra purposes are likely to become exploits.

Doesn't this prevent experimentation?

Look folks... it's like this. Yes, using this work around is potentially an exploit. But, tell me how many times have they said they've fixed this... and it's still broken? If no one used this bug and pointed it out... then why would they ever have need to fix it?...

It's like all bugs... force the devs to fix them... by simplyUSING (exploiting, whatever) them... else they won't have a reason to fix them. It's your duty as a player... don't let us down!
