Dude I'm a friggin WOOKIE architect... and I still fail..

BEING an octupus or human or whatever.. means absolutely NOTHING. get over it.. u octupus people look ugly. When i started the game, I wasnt thinking of being an architect.. but i ended up going that path, as a wookie.. I've had my share of failures.. but I dont hink its any better or worse than what i hear you guys go through.. Actually im positive its not any worse

Critical Failures are all random to all races... get over it

Antipop - seriously, 1/10 of the resources you've collected went into a med house?

Simple rule of thumb here - you need med harvesters to build med houses and large harvesters to build large housesto get the materials in a reasonable length of time. Unless you have PA backing, you really need to climb the installations tree before doing anything else except for buildings 1 for factories.

The factory xp thing really does not hurt architects as much as you think either. Making wall modules in a factory loses you a grand total of 900 xp, providing you do the structural modules by hand.

Once we get the +100 assembly at master, we will be ok.

I know it's frustrating as hell to crit fail structures. Been there, done that many a time. But there IS a light at the end of the tunnel. Once you do hit master, even without the +assembly fix, your crit fails WILL drop, by quite a bit.

wha? what game are you playing?

I have Installations 2 and collect about 10k resources total a day, I've had that for about 5 days and have been playing 3 weeks total. I think it is a very accurate guess that I've collected 200k resources so far, and seeing how a medium house is 20k, thats 1/10. And I would build myself a factory to do wall modules, but that takes up 2 lots and costs me more money and power to maintain, so while I may do it once I get more business (i.e. more cash flow), it's simply not much of an option as of now.

I dont use my factory to make wall modules.. cuz i am cheap and dont want to waste a wall module as a schematic

but I do use them to make a grip of structure modules. I mean a LOT. I also use them to make awhole variety of furniture. Since I could care less if I get to MA, I use my factory for everything. I have all boxes filled except for construction which I dont plan on filling.

So good luck to all of you

"Dude, you are a Zabrak, what did you expect. You need to be a fighter, not an architech. If architecture was your thing, then you should have been Mon Cal."

I'm Zabrak and hardly ever fail ... /shrug ... +10 structure assembly should not make or break your profession man... I mean at best if the tree was doen the way all the others were and the assembly added up to 100 it would lower your chance of failure by 10% ?

class does matter. For many proffessions. Wookies simply dont make as good of quality armor as humans. Humans dont make as good weapons as some classes. MonCal make better houses.

It is a good system and it has merit. But the critical faliure on the final piece is bull. I have never seen a carpenter miff the final stages of a house. If they miff something it is always at the start the structure. Come on. Losing all the components is a heartbreaker. When it happens to my mon cal he shoots the biggest thing he sees then waits and dies. Lol it makes me feel better. Then again he doesn't wear pants either.

ROFL, that's a good way to deal with it. Next time it happens to me, I'll go out and finda Sharnaff Bull and piss it off real good then stand there and wait for the punishment. Seems fitting that dieing has less long-term drawbacks than critical failing a medium house... oh wait.

Critical Failures are nasty yes. They were designed that way. I've had CFs on a couple large houses, a couple mediums, and a couple factories. I am a human Master Architect. It is quite frustrating when it happens. I say Deal with it. its part of the profession you chose. Don't like it? Go be a Chef or something.

No, critical failure rate = YOU are screwed. I planned ahead, I'm just fine. Since I just got done posting my thoughts on this subject to another thread I'll just paste a portion of what I have to say on the topic of "fixing" critical failures here:

Crit fails serve a very useful purpose as they are currently implemented and I'd hate to see them changed even though I, like any other architect, suffer when its my turn in the barrel. If you could not fail, a success means so much less than it does now. While you would remove the occasional pain you also remove the frequent pleasure.

Beyond the personal risk/reward factor, they also work to thin the herd in a survival of the fittest manner, at least among architects. Those who prepare for failures are able to deal with them relatively easily, those who are not prepared may suffer greatly or see their entire business wiped out if they were really poor planners. By removing this feature you homogenize the entire class into "people who click" rather than seperating them into "people who think before they click" and "those who don't think, just click".

There is nothing broken with critical failures and every time I see a post calling for them to be fixed I can't help but think of it in terms of getting your dog fixed. As far as the architect class goes it would be neutered if failures were removed.

I sacrifice a chicken before the final combine.

I agree that Critical failure rates are way too high for us, failed 6 times tonight on structure mods (thank god not on any walls or deeds), and several times crafting furniture (I won't even go into failing on the final combine to a Fusion gen deed.. talk about painful).I'm currently at furniture IV, so wile I'm not a master, I should still be pretty decent at not vaporizing all my resources. Heck, I cranked out 3 suits of Chitin after that, and I failed once on a bracer with only +20 armor assembly. Makes me think something is wrong with Architect's fail chance.

Oh and about race picks, it's not that big of a deal. I have a Mon-Cal Architect friend, he fails quite a bit too, so that +10 bonus is just a bit of gravy.
