Thread: Anyone one else think failure rates to high??

I dont think any of us really havea choice as to what materials we use. With resources changing every week we have to wake up at 3am and plant harvs on the ore or we are out of ore for the next week.
Sometimes this is ture, sometimes it's not. For example, when I was using the siliclastic ore, the carbonate ore was there too. I just chose the siliclastic because I happened to find it first and didn't know what I needed to worry about. I ended up with about 12k of crappy ore when all that time I could have been getting the better stuff.
Of course stuff moves around, but I've never seen a resource last less than a week (not since beta at least), and I watch them closely. I'm on every day, sometimes twice a day, so I see when stuff moves (at least metals and ore).
Sometimes you'll go through a period when you don't have any really good stuff of one type. Like right now the only decent steel where I'm at isn't all that great, but the ore is good. Last week the aluminum was good, but the copper was junk. And I feel sorry for my DE friend who has to find extrusive ore off-planet at the moment. I don't think Naboo has had extrusive ore since launch.
Anyway, when you find something good, get those harvesters going. If you miss a day or two, so what. You can still get 3-5 days worth and stockpile it for when it runs out. Buy a factory, or borrow one, to make a bunch of building blocks up front while you have good ore. The resource movement system is a pain in the arse, and it's not at all realistic. But it's the way it is and you have to learn to work it like any other system. It's not like architects are the only crafters affected by this. I'm just glad I only need to worry about one stat (toughness) for most things, as opposed to DEs who generally need to worry about two or even three stats.
