FYI: I have made more profit, and still make more profit than you could dream about. I still sell structures at 6.5 cred/resource. I certainly don't sell as many as I used to, and that's due to decreased demand accross the board.

I make a profit of around 6 cred/res combining my mining & arch skills. You make a bit over 2.

You have to be mining, crafting, and selling THREE TIMES as many structures as I do, in order to make more profit. If I have extra resources, I sell them at 3-8 cred/res, and I occasionally get up to 15 from exceptional resources I've saved once they've shifted out.

I recently Mastered Armorsmith, so I could do additional business getting 20-40 credits/resource making composite armor.

As for my enjoyment, I'm having a great time. My customers are extremely pleased with my work (Orders are ready for purchase usually within 15 mins of getting the tell) and always come back with repeat business. I count my customers as my friends, and we respect each other.

You have the right to sell for whatever you want, and sell at a loss, as you do. My issue with you, is that you're a jerk about it. You create the impression that EVERY Architect should be working for free, or at a loss. You make it impossible for other Archs that CAN'T mine their own to do business. You cheapen the profession.

The same goes in real life. I COULD technically work as a talented IT Professional for $5 an hour, live in low rent housing, have no monthly expenses, and still not go bankrupt. If I loved my work, I suppose that would be valid. However, because I'd work so cheap, people would take advantage of me, and not respect my work, or time.

Or, I can charge $50+ an hour, live comfortably, and save for the future, and not go bankrupt. I can still love my work, but I deal with a higher quality of customer. Because I have "value" they respect me, and my time.

Your ignorant claims of making better profits are laughable. I make better profits than you ever did. The sell low in high quantity model doesn't work in architecture, because, well, you CANNOT out produce me, I guarantee it. So if you can't mass produce, the only thing you're doing is making less money from a finite demand for deeds. Nice job Einstein, great business sense there.

I'd like those of you out there calling architect idiots/stupid/lame for selling stuff so cheap to remember.

It requires a Master ARCHITECT to be an Urban Planner to build stuff for your cities. Do you think they are going to play war games with their own economy then? I do believe the prices for your average shuttleport will be in line with what Weaponsmiths charge for their goods. As there will be GREAT demand. Not to mention some retribution for all this complaining about architect pricing.

You will have people who want to power level to the top so they will set the initial prices, so say a starting structure needs 100k resources and you need to sell 10 to make the first box. thats 10million right there, but most likely there will be a urban planner for half the citys so your city needs only one of the 3-4 items you can make what do you do with the other 6? yup sell them anyway you can so you can level up the next tier. Now I know that there is money in the game but the resource cost will be so high that no one will be able to afford a "real" price initally so the intial price will be set low buy the pa urban planners trying to get rid of the surplus stuff. So I bet that it will be the same as archetect.

Also a shutlle port will probably be priced well since I imagine that it will be a master urban planner who can make them. Look at guild halls they have the best price point of the profession.

No way. You're looking at the smallest structures requiring the equivalent resources of a PA hall, over 50K. Now a shuttleport is a rather large structure, let's put it at 100K resources. Minumum you get for a gun is about 50 cpu. So you're telling me that it's going to sell for 5 million credits? No way. It only takes one guy selling it for 200K credits to kill that ratio.

I disagree, we have a highly arranged city south of dearic on talus on kette. 40 different people, some guilded, some not, both imperial and rebel factions, slews of merchants. We have well arranged streets (boggles the mind no?) and we aren't hodge podge in anyway shape or form. I don't think we'll have trouble being a large city at any point. It all started from myself and a tailor deciding we wanted a nice area to live in with some sane rules for merchant types regardless of afiliation (no pvp in town, keep town organized, etc.) There is another pretty large city on Talus on ket too up north that isn't a pa town, they are aligned however.

I think large towns will only occasionally be pa related because pa's come and go, you can't afford to have your place of business and home do that.

Maybe not the 600% profits you are used too, but still solid profits. And I knowmy customers like my business, and send their frineds to me.

Yes I work hard, but I love it, and I enjoiy making my customers happy.

Here's that wonderful 600% profit margin you talk about over and over and over......again. I can't take anything you say seriously because you can't prove you know what you're talking about. Solid profits? Oh ya, you're on Naritus, a new server. You still have people that don't own structures that don't decay.....

Maybe you should take a clue from all the people from the original servers and what they are telling you. We've been there since the beginning and our servers are much further along the architectual curve than yours is.

Its pretty simple, if you want to make money, sell the resources, if you want to make house build them but your not going to get as much as you would if you just sold the resources, Once you hit master, you ask yourself is it worth the trouble of potentially losing money on criting on your orders when you really have nothing more to gain from taking a loss. Or you could become a resource seller, always other crafters that one the resources badly enough to buy at 3cr per resource or more if its better than "Grind" quality stuff.

Take your ore, I alway mind carb ore because I can easily sell it, now when you find "sweet" high quality carb ore that you know you can sell easily for 5cr per resource or morewhy would you use it to build something that you could crit on for only 2 to 3cr per resource if you are a master. Now I understand if you are "grinding" your way to master as fast as possible and just want to keep the cash flow going, but once your there why would you sell your structures for possibly half of what you could get the resources for on the open market?

Now you have to ask your self what if those "rare" resources for composite or top tier weapons come into the game that week. you could A go harvest ore and sell it at 2 - 3 cred or get harvest something that will well sell for 10 creds per resource to start and then go up from there depending on how long you sit on the resources, I've heard of stuff selling for 50 creds per resource.

So my point is, if you want to make money become a miner, if you want to make houses become a "poor" architect. If you want to make lots and lots of money become a weaponssmith lol. Now I'm not arguiing for either side, I'm just telling it how it is. I wish that we could sell our buildings 5creds per resource or higher, but since this is a game and some people play it for enjoyment and don't care about making money that will probably never happen unless something drastic occurs and drives more people away from the Architect profession. Either way for both the people that don't care about money and the people who do, as yall might have noticed there are less and less people giving you tells for items, which points to the decline already occuring in potential customers.

Wow I didn't mean to rant but I guess that happens when you fall into the camp that wishes they could make money off their profession. I think after I have made my city I will give it all up and try something else.

I don't really think pricing arguments are worth fighting about. There's a lot of ways to play the game and have fun; whatISN'T fun is having someone yell at you for enjoying yourself in your own way.

I'm not taking sides here, but personally, I really don't see the point of making a large profit in SWG. What's the point of having a million credits, or 2 million, or 10? They're numbers in a video game, they don't mean anything. It's nice to have some cash to buy the things you want or need, but more than that is kind of pointless, in my opinion.

When I play, I don't play to make a profit. I play to help my friends. I only charge what I have to in order to buy what I need and pay maintenance costs. I think it's more rewarding to give someone a deal and make a new friend to chat with or go hunting with rather than sit in my house and figure out the best way to maximize my profit margins.

Now I admit, I can see how some people might prefer that kind of thing. I can understand that somemay findeconomic strategyinteresting and enjoyable, and that's fine and dandy. There's a lot of challenge and thought behind making a fortune, and it takes dedication and hard work. If you choose to do that, good luck to you.

What upsets me is that people seem to think that everyone should share the same attitudes as themselves, and resort to name-calling when someone tries to voice their own opinions. What gives you the right to complain about how someone else chooses to have a good time? Don't like it, think it's stupid? That's cool, but keep it to yourself. There's no need to slam on someone because they have different priorities (this goes out to price-cutters AND price-gougers).

Let's justfocus on having a good time guys, not trying to convince other people that your way is the 'right' way to play. I'm not trying to be mean, but can't we just relax and have a good time rather than filling the boards with flame wars?

I can count Viper. I know my resrource cost, I know my overhead. If I sold at 4 cr per unit I would be selling at over 500% profit margin.

Ok I wont call you an idiot.. just REALLY ignorant.

Urban planner WILL be for elile PA Architects only. there will be no need for non PA Architets in this field. there will be NO money in it at ALL.. Think about it. How many large PAs are there.. how many cities do you think there will be? cant be many.

Well here's a shock for ya from an "idiot architect"... I made a large hosue last night and gave it away for free! Thats right! Nadda! Nuthin! My pa supported me through the grind. The hunters donated meterials and lots and have a right to expect payback now that I'm at the top of my profession. Nearly everything I make I give away to PA members. Frankly, I have little need for money. I can run 10 missions and pay for my house and warehouse. I occasionally sell outside the PA, but that's all gravy. I'm happy making my friends happy with house upgrades and furniture when they need it.

Sure, PA's will be the first ones with player cities... and why not? This is a multi-player game! Don't you think a group that cooperates and works well together would get a city before a solo architect?

It's a miulti-player game and, in my opinion, Architect was never meant to be a solo profession.
