Thread: Construction Skill
Structure experimentation:
Decrease matinence on buildings through experimentation.
This is in addition to a doubling of current matinence costs.
Maybe I missed it, but I don't see this mentioned:
- The ability to colorize furniture
- The ability to colorize the walls of houses
(before final combine, similar to clothing, want a pink house? Sure I can do that!)
I'd like to see military structure. They are apparently fixing turrets and such which are already faction perks. Allow Archs to build these items. Maybe the small dish at Construcion II, the small tower at Con III, and the large at Master.
The schematic should probably require a part from a weaponsmith and maybean armorsmith for armor. Maybe has some sub component schematics at Const I. This would reduce dabbling in the line if it wasn't gained until Const II.
What I mean by Player City buildings, is that the Urban Planner profession be a part of the Architect class instead of a seperate one. But I agree, military structures would be much cooler. Especially with all the mobs around "cities" it would be nice to getsometurrets to clear them out
There seems to be three different discussions going on here and all are valid.
1. Make experimentation useful. (reduced maintenance, greater hopper capacity, etc.)
2. Military structures or city structures (I vote military)
3. Color customization to stuff we can already build.
I think all 3 of these can be done reasonably. Make 1 and 3 part of the construction line. Have color changes actually be part of the experimentation skill mod. You could possibly even customize house floorplans with this too. Then, add military structures to the house line. It does add more schematics, but without decay, houses have a finite interest anyway.
This would make the construction line super useful and open up a new market as people start asking for red, blue, and green furniture, new floorplans, etc.
My 2 cents.
Shifty
I hate the idea of "elite-elite" professions and I hate the fact that I'll have to give up my "fun" stuff in order to have the points to train it. I'm still going to do it, although honestly I'm not sure why - guess I feel like I'm this far into it, I might as well see it through, but I have a feeling it might be the mistake that drives me away from the game, especially if they make the building requirements like they did on the master level items - you'll need specific types of materials which will of course be rare. I don't need more frustration in my gameplay. Once again SOE fails to recognize the difference between "tediously frustrating" and "challenging".
Iwould obviously prefer city building schematics in the useless Construction line. Given that SOE will never take away a skill point sink like an elite-elite profession, my second choice would be to move assembly points there, increase them to 100, and add two lots for every level of Construction completed (and two more upon reaching master so I can cancel my second account - something SOE would hate I'm sure.) Color customization would be a nice little bonus.
* GCW Structures
* House/furniture colorization
* (Very unlikely) A way to smooth the land. Our city was built on Talus which has 5 degree slopes all over which are too steep to build on but are _almost_ flat enough, and our city is limited on room in three directions.
Archangel , You know i'm all for these changes , hehe
I 'm glad you decided to become the correspondant, and it'sgood that you are handling them one step at a time.
As for UP, I'm going that route but am unclear as to why the mayor will be placing these items and not the UP who is building them. If this is the case should we not be called Urban Construction worker?
As I have already posted on another thread, I am very skeptical about the whole Player City concept. It seems just too limiting. I can only see one or two Architects being involved in this strictly within the PA ranks. So, I would not endorse anything related to the UP aspect of Architects.
However, I do like the more open potential of military structures. In addition, I have hope that a combination of Architect, Droid Engineeer, and Weaponsmith will coordinate to build military structures and the spacecraft expansion (if it ever becomes a reality). I believe in this so much that my two characters are near masters in those three professions ![]()
I dont think it should replace Urban Planner stuff.... Urban Planner should stay in Urban Planner... it's a totally different profession.... I doubt the devs are going to change that
I would like to see it be used for colorization and variations of current items... the higher we go up the tree the more colors and custimization we can do to the furniture.... and maybe even the interior of houses like different colors for walls and carpets (not not outside since that would hurt the data base to much.... just interior stuff)
Other than maybe just a new furniture type branch but have it be like art or something and have paintings, statues, fountains, etc... be in the tree
