Thread: And I quote: Holy s#$t, you are WAY overpriced
What you have to watch out for is this: those guys that tell you they bought something for dirt cheep are hoping that you are a new architect wet behind the ears. They are hoping that they can cheat a newcomer.
Whenever you see a new architect auctioning dirt low prices, inform them that they can and should get more for thier time/effort. If they really really want to undercut the market, buy all they have and put an order in for more, then resell it. If they get mad just remind them that you TOLD them they could/should get more for it.
I am real expensive based on what I am seeing here.
But my price is based on 5cr a resource for anything not requiring a factory and 6cr a resource for those that do. I buy all my resources now, I have someone running my lots because I hate harvesting.
I am running it as my own business as in no PA. I probably averagely pay 3cr a resource but sometimes less sometimes more. I don't pay more than 4cr a resource unless I need that last stack of 1000 but that hasn't happened in a long time. I don't think averaging 1-2cr a resource is that bad for my skills. I think too many people still undersell.
You can't make everyone have a universal price that is no free economy so I just run my business as I do and still make money but I turn it right back into the economy buying resources and some personal items. Next time someone says 65k for a medium house is high tell them I charge 103k.
65k is my factory price.
I have had many people ask me about something and then be like well so and so is about 10k cheaper but I need to wait 3 days and I am just like I can have it ready in the hour. So they take it. Got to love the need it now buyers.
The one thing about my pricing though that some miss on is I am negotiable but very few try and with more than one harvester purchase I give a discount as well. Another thing I run into a lot is people don't want to wait and I give great customer service answer all their questions and make sure they know what they are doing. I have many repeat customers that have just liked me and the way I run things because I am open and honest about what is happening and explain my pricing as I see others do as well. I do wish I could afford to sell at 3-4cr a resource and make some profit though. But at that rate I would rather just sell resources because I would make more money that way be proud of your job and don't sell yourself short.
As long as I sell for at least 1.5 cr per resource I make a decent profit. Being that my total bank account is over 3 million credits and is growing I doubt I will run into bankrupcy any time soon. The whole idea is to be profitable at the same time drive your competitors out of the market. We currently run about 100 harvesters about 1/3 are large the rest are mediums. We are upgrading those as fast as we can. We spend about 1.5 million credits per week on havester maintenance. Being larger doesn't mean that we have it easy it only means we need to make sure we sell enough to keep it going.
I have a price structure that will be given to my PA council for approval once I reach the 5 million credit mark that should drop our prices down to 1.5 credits per resource. Along with a plan to tripple our resource production. The more people that are driven from architecture now the less Urban Planners there will be in the future.I see this as a necessary step because architecture is ruined all ready and one person charging more for their products isn't going to save the profession but I can make sure very few people can afford to stay in the profession and this willlimit the number of people I will be competing against when Urban Planners are introduced.
If you can't compete then try to go into one of them other professions like weaponsmith or armorsmith.

Preach it.
I seriously question how they can afford to sell that low without duping.
thanks for reinforcing what every architect has been saying Dumin. By selling things so low you are shutting down the profession for so many other players.
This is part of the reason I haven't joined a PA. My purpose for playing this game isn't to "crush the competition" whether it be in PvP or in business. My reason for playing is to have some fun, make some credits and meet other folks out there. You're not on the same server as me and if you were, it wouldn't matter, I'd still be able to stay in business because I understand what it takes to do it from an independents point of view. But, there are a lot of people playing that won't stay in business because there will be no business to be had after a while when you sell that cheap and that fast.
So, I say again, thanks for continuing to do your part in making the game less fun and playable for the average player.

You have 10 chars worth of resources, & 3 million banked. That's 300k each. I laugh at people like you. You're working your ass of for no profit. You're rich, because you're taking the work of 10 people & keeping all the profits.
I'll continue to sell my heavies at 6 cred/res, building a healthy bank account, and I can't get over 150k for heavies, I'll pull my harvesters, until there's something worthwhile to do. Then I'll be there with 25 heavies & over 5 million banked ready to compete with you when urban planner comes out.
Boy, I'm glad I don't reside in Chilastra. Man, I would change professions. I have my pa help with resources so it is not too bad. I just sold a pa hall for 350K. The customer was very happy. I will help to furnish it at no cost. But I can't survive selling at 1.5 cpu. This is just crazy. I feel for the architects on that server.
BTW, how fun is the game for you? Anyway once the market dries up, you will not be able to maintain your harvesters. Everyone will have a med/large house and all the furniture they need.

you trained to be an architect...true
but you didnt untrain in being smart
First and foremost in ANY crafting profession is the fact that we ALL are merchants, unless of course you never SELL your structures.
Just my .02
Kabukkyn you're correct, but I'm sure its fun for him, he joined the game to be a power gamer and beat everyone in a game that doesn't have a winner. This way he feels like he has accomplished something by being the "first" to get something or having the largest fleet of harvesters.
I don't agree with the way he does things. I don't think he's looking at whats good long term for the game and the profession. But, he's allowed to do what he likes regardless of the consequences to everyone else. <shrug>
We don't have to like it, but unfortunately there's not much we can do about it unless someone wants to make a merchant on his server and try to buy up everything he's making and even then it really doesn't solve the problem.
What I have in the bank only matters when deciding how long the harvesters can run without aditional income. What is there to spend money on really? I have 3 million credits and I run the PA harvester Program I do not have the income of 10 people. All resources within the PA are sold at 1 cr per resource. SO the amrossmiths have thier own profit the other architect has his own profit the doctor has his profit etc. Now my profits seem low they might be butI have more than 1.9 million unused resources at this time.
By your valuse standards I have 9.5 million credits (1.9 million at 5cr per) worth of resources and 3 million credits in the bank. So my total net worth not counting unsold deeds or components is all ready at 12.5 million. That is just 1/8th of the total PA profit for the 100 harvesters that are in operation. Laugh all you want we are not running ourselves out of buisness. I could make alot more money but I chose to only focus on PA halls and there is a smaller market for that.
You on the other hand build large harvesters and help the competition comepete with you so you say you are doing well thats great but eventually you will run into a situation where the people you sold harvesters to are undercutting you and drive you out of buisness. Since I have never sold a harvester to anyone I can say I have never helped the competition in anything they do.
