Ok folks some of ya have it a little wrong.. Here is what happens and what is happening...

Currently : When you do a cross server lot trade, only the houses are removed from game when a character is deleted. Harvestors stay in game as long as someone puts in money and is on admin. Meaning (as an example) people from starsider could log into bloodfin, make a character, drop 10 harvs, delete character, make new char, drop 10 harvs, delete etc etc.

What is changing..

Only thing changing is that if a structure is owned by a deleted character, that structure goes bye bye. IF the character is not deleted, then the structures stay. So basically if your friend gave you 10 lots on a cross server trade and never deleted his char on your server, you are ok. But if he remade his char a few times or has since stopped playing you are in trouble.

actually in most cases If there is someone on admin all structures are staying.. Some do disapear when the code gets lucky and does the proper check .. but most cases its situations like the person above who legit had structure transerfed .. then code does check to see if original owner exists still and then poof..

But anyway yeah .. as of this patch it doesnt matter.. all now will go poof regardless of who is on admin..

this is really really really a big deal....

i imagine that when this goes live we will see many angry people and people quitting.....

now with x-server trades there is no way to really be sure if someone has deleted their characters....i am sure there are some people who have exploited this and created many charcters on the same server and possibly have done multiple trades with people...or who have created charcaters for trades on all servers....some people are going to get screwed...

then there are others who might have done legitimate trades on their own servers...buying lots from people...i myself at one point was leasing a guys lots and transfered 2 of my structure to him...he quit but told me before and we reversed the transfer...others might not have seen or heard from people they are leasing from for months ...or i can see this really impacting guilds that have had members leave over the past year...i know that it can be a problem to find someone with 9 lots open to place the hall...it would be a shame if their guildhall poofed

aside from losing maintence and power, people could lose 100s of items....

while i think this is actually a good thing to help cull the database and deal with heavy exploiters, people jsut shouldnt log on Tuesday to find there lives in ruins....

at the very least all admins should get a warning message that the structure is tagged for deletion and give them a week or so to prepare

i have a bad feeling about his

Hate to tell you thins but its been this way for at least 1 month and a half, as we learned the hard way, had a player place Tactical center that was quiting the game, low and behold, they also deleted their character, Tact center was not there the next day.

So really this is old news. As long as they keep the character on your server you are good.

No the problem IS on other structures.. ( dont know if you can make anyone admin on a base..) if that person places someone who is still existing on admin then delete the structure is staying...

While I wouldn't necessarily feel bad for people running tons of lots, I do hope the lots don't just poof on Tuesday. Here's how it should go down, both on patch day andin the future:

1. Change the structure damaged notifications so that they go to everybody on the admin list, not just the lot owner

2. The structure isn't deleted, instead when it's scheduled to be deleted maintenance on that structure goes to 0 credits.

3. Maintenance cannot be added to a structure flagged for deletion.

4. The structure decays naturally and disappears after a few days.

I think this would be a satisfactory compromise. I can imagine people who are sharing lots have an impossible time keeping track of who owns what and I know I'd hate to lose a lot of valuable stuff.

I have done 2 x-server trades, for factories & houses (no harvesters). If they both vanish (again I might add, already happed once due to a bug) I'll delete. No questions, no posts, no goodbyes. Fact is as a trades person, with the items cap currently in place, you cannot stay in business, harvest materials, store materials, and sell finish goods. Give me a way to do so first, within existing parameters, before destroying the workaround for a situation we as crafters have all complained about since game inception.

I've got a bunch of harvestors from the various above mentioned methods. While this patch will surely reduce my harvestor count in half, i'm kinda welcoming it. It'll be nice to have a fresh start as it were, and maybe it'll do something to revitalize the whole arch market.

Agreed. This may be a huge boon to the architect harvesterbusiness.

Alternatively it could be a large kick in the cajones for resource buyers like us. I suspect i will be a bit of both, higher demand for harvesters as replacements, higher prices on resources due to scarcity. I hope you are all well stocked on both like me (which is more due to lack of sales than forward planning)
