Of interest to just about everyone:

--- When you delete a character, all harvesters and installations that the character owns will be deleted after next server restart.

I was under the impression that any player who deletes his char has his strucutres removed!

Does that mean that currently alot of the cross-server lot swaps areowned by deleted characters?

Would this mean you could lay down 10 harvs, give your friend admin, delete the character, repeat, and end up with as many lots as you want? Or are lots tied to an account?

If you delete a character, houses, lots, etc do get deleted, its just that there is no real set time. A friend of mine lost a house she had transfered from a deleted account into her name right after the time she logged off. Harvesters however, might be a different matter.

It usually takes six weeks from what I've heard.

But, I decided to actually run a test and I had somebody place a personal harvester down, then delete his character. I've been adding maintenance and power to it since early March. It's still there.

I am a little confused about this. I thought this is how it already worked. You delete a character on a server, anything owned by that character was removed immediately. Since the character no longer existed, there was no way any items could be attributed to a non-existant character.

Things that were taking 6 weeks to disappear were from people who cancelled their account.

That is how I thought it was. I am not certain what this patch is changing?

Sounds like a great thing, I'll have to copy this over to the forum politik if you don't mind since this is much more promising then the stupid 6 week inactivity rule and may actually get rid of some of those tumorous homes that patch created.

Ok folks some of ya have it a little wrong.. Here is what happens and what is happening...

Currently : When you do a cross server lot trade, only the houses are removed from game when a character is deleted. Harvestors stay in game as long as someone puts in money and is on admin. Meaning (as an example) people from starsider could log into bloodfin, make a character, drop 10 harvs, delete character, make new char, drop 10 harvs, delete etc etc.

What is changing..

Only thing changing is that if a structure is owned by a deleted character, that structure goes bye bye. IF the character is not deleted, then the structures stay. So basically if your friend gave you 10 lots on a cross server trade and never deleted his char on your server, you are ok. But if he remade his char a few times or has since stopped playing you are in trouble.

And that is just how it should be. I am expecting a lot of weeping static lot miners on the trade forums next week looking for lot trades, followed closely by them beating down my door for new harvs.

Well, one can hope, can't one?
