Thread: Player Cantinas

To be fair here...

While the cantina in the player city I live in is pretty active, I can't see that there is enough such action to support 2 of them.

If only theaters were worthwhile, you could have one of each and that might be worth something. But theaters as they are now suck... so there is no point to that.

It's not a bad life. The soap in hotels is free, and I can get all the holovid channels. *shrug*

That's kind of how I envisioned my entertainer from the beginning of SWG before I let combat corrupt my little dancer. I figured I would start 'booking shows' at various Cantina's around my home world and then eventually universal tours (UT not affiliated with Universal studios tours hehe) and visiting the other planets cantinas. In beta I posted a suggestion to the Devs that they create dances/music that was planet specific and eventually even region specific where as you traveled from place to place you could learn various dances of other nations and such. The idea even fed into the GCW where some dances could/would be banned by the Empire, or insulting to specific races and cultures and have negative impacts. Then again, that was when I really thought the entertainer profession would mean something besides socializing.

Pickles...

Does that mean you are going to un-cancel your account and stick around for a while? (**crosses fingers**)

A Master dancer struggling for somewhere to put a cantina? God I must be dreaming! Im mayor of a level 2 (about to be level 3) city on Tatooine on Farstar and ive spent the last week asking every Master I can find to run a cantina for us, including offering them the cantina deed comletely free along with other perks. The best offer ive had so far was for me to also pay them 20k a week. If there are any Masters on Farstar wanting to run their own cantina come give me a shout (Tar'k in game) and our city Mos Randa will forever be grateful.

Javier dear, you are a GYPSY! Where you lay your hat should be home. Think hard before you lay down five for a cantina, because most people I know who own one are very bored, and they NEED the city subsity to survive. I have no cantina and I'm having a BLAST! Indeed, why put up with all the hassle of staffing, paying, and decorating a cantina when you could be out DANCING instead?

Why do you rarely see more than one cantina? To me, there has to be a demand for a cantina to be put in a place. Just because you build it does not mean they will come. Too many of the dancers on my server are out and out bored in their cities, and they have to go to the major cities to make ends meet. This means you need to have a place where people are running missions. However, why would anyone run missions out of a player city when they can go to an NPC city? There HAS to be a reason for people to leave Theed or Coronet. Now, to me, this means Increased Job Market special, since it increases mission payouts 25%. Now, you'll have people who need services, cantina services, just like the 49ers of old. Unfortunately, nearly all the cities on my server are going for research special. Good for armoursmiths and such, I guess, but boring for me, since hardly anybody is going on missions.

I posted that before I came up with the gypsy idea, in fact that frustration was part of how it all happened.

I no longer wish to own a cantina or any building that does not resemble a tent.

My PA on Tempest just placed a second Cantina in Jaxian Bay on Naboo this week. Got it all decorated and our "coming out" party is set for this Friday. Drink and food vendors behind the bar, lots of tables on the floor, and we even left the stage open so you can see the entertainers instead of them disappearing into the big head statue(s) that everyone seems to think are needed on the stage. . .

We shall see if we get a bunch of people at our party and go from there to see if our city can support the 2 cantinas. Or maybe ours will do better and the other one wil die out. . .or whatever. We'll see how it goes.

Ok, so in the near future, the Intrepid Corellian town of Agrilatia will be building a cantina. I'm doing a little leg work. How much do you guys usually charge for a cantina? What kind of resource needs are you guys needing for it? How can we help/lowertheprice

Also, what are the long term costs in terms of maintence?

Thanks for your help.

It takes about 37-38k of materials to make a Cantina. Schematic is here:

Best answer on pricing will come from your local Intrepid architects. But you can guesstimage the ballpark figure based on the resource requirements. i.e. cost of raw materials cpu x 38k = base cost

You might find an architect that would give you a cheap rate if you supply them materials. However that kinda puts in the position of doing free labor which wears out fast. You might get better results getting a good deal if you offer some rare / useful item or services in trade.

BTW, I believe that Cantinas use 5 lots.

Hi, I have a question about Cantina placement...

I understand it takes a Master Musician/Dancer to place a cantina...my question is, could the structure be transferred to a none Musician/Dancer after it's placed?? Anyone know?
