Thread: Critically Failing on Houses= Ridiculous
Second time i wite this cause SOE is too cheap to run a forum server of this size. Copy everything you submit folks so you dont have to do it twice (cheap bastages)
OK,
In short. If you build wall module you are RISKING 2500 ore or something like that. If we are RISKING the resources, we should GET XP for the RISK. Because right now we are just being screwed to the wall. Make the fail rate higher, i dont care, but if im combining 50k resources, give me 100k xp. simple. AND LIGHTNING WWOHOOO!

Maligy I've built 7 houses in a row nowwith no failure. I've built18harvsin a row with nofailure.Because I do a little research and use the best components I can gather. Examine the components description and it will tell you what resource factors are important. Then find the resources that are high in those areas. Why do you think building structures would not obey the same rules as weps and armor?
I take it these are small houses and harvesters? Well ive made about 100 small houses and had 1 failure. However Ive tried to make 6 medium houses and failed 3 times, ive tried to make 9 factories and failed 4 times. try making big ticket items and then come back with your facts about quality of materials. I have construction 4, buildings 4 and installations 4. My materials are not the best but they are not the worst in the 5-700 range.
You know I really cant wait for one of the people selling properties dirt cheap to fail 2 medium houses in a row. Im now factoring in 1 fail per big item attempt in my pricing.
Ihave never usedanything but 900+ overall quality materials.
I've only had 2-3 structural component failures out of over 110 or more made.
I have however had three critical failures on seven of the small houses attempted.
Now I break out in a sweat everytime I push the "assemble" button....
While I can accept the occasional critical failure as a cost of doing business, this seems a LITTLE excessive. To me anyway. I'm temped to max out my Construction skills before anything else just to see if it would conserve resources.

Itdoesnt help Ive tried it. The reaosn it doens thelp is that it only has Structure Experimentaiton in there. Correct me if Im wrong but in beta wasnt there a Structure Assembly modifier there. Myabe this is a bug and is the reason why we fail so much on the more complex items?
Anyway now I'm wondering if those trait stats have anything to do with the fail rate... like the 60% durability 40% conductivity or whatever. And I'm also wondering if the complexity level of the structure has something to do with it. IE the 2 different styles of small houses use the same amount of resources to maek but one of them has a higher complexity level.

ahhhahh.. You get that too? I hold my breath even when I don't mean to.. cause when you fail.. good gawd I hate that cold as ice rage that builds within me.
Its always confused me how you can critical fail on a zero risk experiment too.
Like to know a bit more of the logic behind these mechanisms.

Goodness.. been at work too long!

This is crazy. I have gotten so many critical failures making houses its not even funny. Failing to make a componant is one thing, but failing to make the actual house is just ridiculous. Architects have a hard tim egetting money as it is (hopefully that will begin to change), and failing on houses isnt a "game challenge" its a downright slap in the face!
Im not opposed to failing making componants such as storage compartments, structural modules, etc, but when you get all of those together to make a house (something that takes a long time for me, I dont know about you) and losing it ALL just shouldnt happen. I can barely pay upkeep to my extractors, let alone wasting a hard days work worth of recources.
In my opinion, this just shouldnt happen (or shouldnt happen nearly as much). Failing on other compnants sure, but failing houses... please. I fail like 1 in every5 houses! Is that the normal rate, or am I just horrendously unlucky?
*awaits to be bombarded with "would you like cheese with that whine?" posts...*
"try making big ticket items and then come back with your facts about quality of materials."
LOL, you can lead a horse to water...
I don't need to come back with facts because I know how it works. Do this experiment yourself. A structural module's effectiveness depends on Unit Toughness. Next time you're building one of your big ticket items use some ore that has lousy UT for some SMs. Make note of your effectiveness %. Next use some high UT ore for awhile and compare. You'll have greater success, greater effectivenessand fewer crits. These are your "high quality" components. Now apply the same practice to wall modules so they are "high quality". Finally when making say a med house make sure the ore component has the highest Durability you can find. Always look at the in game description of a schematic to see what the effectiveness factors are to guide your materials choice. If you're getting a lot of "moderate" success builds then you are tempting crits. I think some of your are just looking at raw resource requirements, ignoring the rest and cheaping out.
In any case there's always a small chance of failure. I still get them when making simple Arty items occasionally. I don't think there's anything you can do about that, justa sometimes painful cost of doing business.
I have failedon one house.
Ive reached heavy harvestors. And all I make.. Are houses.
Hey Fizzle,

Do you remember being a Novice Architect working your rear end off gathering resources? To a novice failing on a small house IS a big ticket item. It really sounds like you are putting those of us who aren't near master architect down, and that our failures meanÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂless than yours.ÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ Someone does the research and is KIND enough to share his thoughts about quality and then you basically tell him he is a jackass. /rude
Don't go thinking you are better than everyone else because everyone who chooses this proffession has to work their butts off to get as far as they are.ÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ
Done ranting now.
The day I got novice I attempted 2 houses to fail on both....that totally wiped me out of resources that I had collected for darn near 3 days to make those houses, was a big let down.
