Thread: Architects .. another nerf in 7/8/03 patch
I am thankful I have Survey IV and not just starting out. I feel sorry for the new Artisan that has to gain skill in Survey. My Engineer is now able to get 10 samples before he must sit and rest. How long to get survey IV now?
I wonder if marksmen and others who use action will also have there action costs increased? how many people will continue to play if they made their skills cost 50% more?
The cost of all this activity is of course going to be passed on the person buying the high-grade ore. If I cannot turn a profit, I will go do something else.
I personally, Like the new changes.. but it's not fair to call them changes - they were really bug fixes..
do some of you really feelit should have been that easy to run 20+ extractors at once? I say 20 (or more) because people were having their friends (family, guild, ext..) use deeds, and had them make them an admin so they could use the added extractor (or whatever)..
we all knew there should have been power consumption, and maintenance costs.. and a lot of people took advantage that the system wasn't working as intended.. and now some of these people are upset and want to move to another class, and/or, leave the game?
so be it, this is the way it was intended...
I've very happy everything (well most everything) is now orking as intended.. I have two extractors and a windmill.. and I can maintain both easy.. and the most money I've had in the game so far is only 12k.. (currently at 7k)..
I was also very upset the market was destroyed within a week do to taking advantage of this flaw in the system.. now, even tonight, I can see things are getting much better..
a small house should cost 20k, and not that stupid 3k thru 8k I've been seeing.. will it take me a few days to collect the ore to make a factory now? sure, and that will be great, ebcause I can now charge what it should really be worth..
Architech's, just like in real life, should make a lot of profit, and it should take a lot of time.. I think a few days ingame to create a house or a factory is great ![]()

on the other note, yes hand mining dose take longer now, and takes up more action.. but I could still sit my Mon Cal down and he could still mine for over 10 minutes just fine.. try the stat migration.. I have mind and action both maxed out.. is it still overall slower, yea.. but I also believe this is for the best..
<gets off his soup box>
happy gaming, i know I will now ![]()
I agree with Ironcleaver. It's funny to see everyone on here that was ruining the market by taking advantage of the system earlier, now complaining that they can't do it anymore. If you were selling your houses for 8k, you were way underpricing and though you can sell them for 8k still, good luck making a profit. I now have a very loyal customer base and don't have anytime to make myself or my friends a house unless they bring me the resources. But I also don't have to explain to my current customers how my prices have increased, because they haven't.
This patch isn't ruining architects in the least, its bringing them back into being a viable profession. Now when I tell ppl my prices, half of them won't answer "are you kidding." Though some still will because of the old prices, they'll be very hard pressed to find those same deals anymore.
I'm in agreement also that this fix was good. You can't run a business without power, why a harvester???? Plus now my prices can go up and actually make a profit. The people who aren't happy with the change are the power players who just want to be the first to master this profession. Don't worry Dev's, we have faith in you.

"Cheer Cheer! Harvester maintainence is here!"
Frankly, I was very excited when I did my harvester run this morning. It was nice to see that those cheap harvesters were all broken down because of lack of maintenance. Now maybe the houses will return to normal prices seeing that harvesters are no longer disposable, and players will be forced to pay maint.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The fact is that run down harvesters SHOULD work - they should just be much less efficient. Otherwise why even have status percentage? And more importantly why are we paying for beta still? This is just a joke - they saw a problem and hugely overreacted to it.... They need to revise this system again soon....
As an aside what are people charging for small houses now? 30k or so?

Sampling now costs 50% more action .. that means 50% slower hand sampling !! Devs .. can you please nerf us some more ? We can still build a house a month now .. thats to much isn't it ?
I disagree. This is onlya nerf to those who's sole means of mining is to macro.
Yes I macro mine, right next to the maximum number of harvesters my pitiful amount of lots allow me.
This is only a TRUE nerf to those who macro mine only to sell us resources at grossly inflated prices.
Personally i see this as a good move .. resources and houses were economically all over the place, this should stable the market .. house prices will rise and architects will concentrate more resource management instead of chucking houses out left right and centre to get structure xp.
I bought a small house off a guy for 4k .. i did bring him alot of business and we payed him well for the other 4 houses , but we were like 3 days into the game, i wasnt expecting to have 5 houses up by then, turned out we managed to secure our own island at the core of naboo, my point is, i was worried that this ease of getting houses would make the architect profession crap.
Not sure which way this is gonna go with the changes, but i think we can all agree it needed to change for the long term.
I understand that this update was put in place to cause artisan professions to use harvesters more and I have no problem with that, but I mean, it takes hours and hours just to get enough resources to build a couple of harvesters. And who knows how long it takes to get all the funds to keep the things running.
