Thread: Skill Tapes?
In my experience to date, ya need a +75% ore mining unit/fluidic drilling pump/harvesting mechanism to make Heavy Harvs at a base extraction rate of 11. Impossible to do with 5 experimentation points....
Thx Machine Dragon fer that exact % ![]()
Excellent, where do you get these tapes from pls?
NPCs drop them but where pls?
I wouldn't stress out too badly over the skill tapes. If you find one or a friend gives you one then great, but I wouldn't pay for one right now. Currently it appears that when master architects get +100 experimentation in the next patch that skill tapes will be worthless for architects at least due to the way the crafting is handled.
If you find a +experimentation tape for armor or weapons though you're a rich man even if it's a crappy +1 or +2 tape. Tapes with medical or food experimentation also have agood value though not the insane 2+ million per point prices the weapon/armor tapes can fetch.
This coming patch will create a third category of experimenting crafters.
Currently there's the professions where experimentation matters like architect, bio-engineer, armor, weapons, chef where you can make products better with experimentation and since NONE of these professions can max out all desired experimentation areas with the base master points (+55 for architects and +100 for the others) this means skill tapes are in high demand.
There are also currently some professions where experimentation doesn't matter like Droid Engineer and perhaps Tailor (not sure on Tailor).
This coming patch will boost architects to +100 experimentation but unless they change the crafting process this will mean that even non-masters will be able to make optimal harvesters and the masters will have an excess of experimentation points. Thus, while experimentation will technically mean something it will also throw architects back into the situation we were for months where every architect's items look like every other architect's items when experimentation didn't matter for us.
Give me a break, all I hear is whining about how non Masters can do what Masters can do.
I agree becoming Master is important, so give them more points and more deeds, but hell, if a close to master arch works hard to make a harvester as good as master, good job.
I will be master today hopefully, if not tomorrow, and yet I still haven't acquired the power trip disease.
I have been a master Architect for awhile and just started in the area of Armorsmith working my way up slowily..
Question is where do you get these Skill Tapes? And are they available for other professions like Architect?
Thanks any help would be appreciated.
FYI.. Just started coming to these here forums and learned some stuff, just up in the air about this concept.
You get them from a variety of places...although most armorsmiths get them by purchasing them from other players. Expect to pay a steep price, though- somewhere in the neighborhood of 1 million cr per +1 of experimentation, a bit less for assembly tapes. When buying them, make sure they don't have bonuses to multiple skills- only one of them will actually imbue and it may not be the one you just paid five million credits for...
They're drops, like a variety of skill-boosting items. You can get them off of Tuskans or other powerful NPC mobs, from chests in caves and temples, and other places.
Hey thanks guys for the information always nice to learn something new.... I appreciate your responses to this area.
Thinking backI have found some before but did not know there importance and thinking there just junk, have given them away to friends I have met.
Oh well you win some and lose some..
Be well guys!
As long as you don't stack the same attachments on the same article of clothing they do stack well. (Drop a +3 Carbine Speed and +4 Carbine Speed ST on a Shirt and all you end up with is +4 Carbine Speed. Drop the +4 Carbine Speed on your Leather Gloves and you'll see an overall +7 Carbine Speed bonus.)
