well you better shop around....my current prices: Mabari - 6k, Chitin 12k, Tantel 10K, Ubese 17K (havent hit padded yet but im sure it will fall in the same progression).

I just posted here cause someone has blamed others for their inability to sell items they have crafted. This cracks me up....why would someone flame people because they have figured out a way to sell items cheap?

Why not sell ur houses for a marginal profit...factoring in your expenses. I have architects tell me that it takes about 30K to make a medium house (with harvestor costs and misc. costs).....does that mean it has to sell for 60-70k? NO it doesnt...sell it for 40K...take 10K and be happy.

I sometimes will give people armor just for the XP of crafting it and taking a total loss on the suit. And yes some suits can cost me well over 10K to make (the panels alone for Ubese can cost anywhere between 5-7k for a crate, at least on my galaxy).

Some people just think that they should get as much profit out of stuff as they possibly can....thats great but this is not a static economy.....SUPPLY AND DEMAND! Dont run 10 medium harvestors so u can build 10 medium houses...run a couple for a day or 2...make 2 house deeds....take 20k in ur pocket and repeat.

I sell everything I have CHEAP and my customers continue to return day after day (and I can still make a small profit). I do what I can to keep them happy and they return the favor in kind by refering people to me. Reciprocation also factors in this economy and until some people begin to understand that...there will many with selling problems.

and lets add on to that, architects are trying to make money while the money is there to be made. eventually the demand for our products will drop dramatically, in fact in some ways with the last patch it already has. you say weapon and armorsmiths fail rates are higher than architects? well, good, then perhaps if they fail a ton more times than me, they might eventually lose the same quantity of resources i lost last nite on a medium house, almost 21k, a full days supply of resources.

When people sell things for less than they are worth, they not only lower the value of the item, they take one more item out of the limited mix of items that can be sold. Your armor wears out, your weapon wears out, your house and 5 harvesters will last forever once you buy them as long as you keep up the maintenance.

So, you're not just making a small profit, your reducing the possible future of the profession whenever you sell something that cheap.

No one's selling for less than they're WORTH. Not possible, at least not for more than a few days. After that you're bankrupt. But of course...there are no bankrupt architects, save maybe a few who tried to gouge & paid the price.

EXACTLY. Bottom line inarguable fact. For some idiot reason, some (hopefully soon to be out of buisiness) architects think they're entitled to huge markups. Maybe try a 10% markup.

God I wish *I* had some small chance of putting a markup of double or triple the actual worth & value on MY money generating stuff. Heres' a hint: your labor & skill are worth a few thousand at best. You materials are basically free (harvesters EARN money & time not COST it). The time to make the house is equal t oa few missions. You make 10K profit on ANYTHING, you made out like a BANDIT.

If my time and labor are worth that little to you then you have no respect for this profession and should maybe try it out yourself..I love the post of people that have not worked to get this skill telling us what its worth..

Pying 30k a day on harvesters ,running to them for an hour to get resources ,taking the time to build items, and then a few crit failures would change your tune real fast..

I agree with Rarek here, but also, I didn't go into this profession to be a glorified miner, if I did, I'd be selling all those resources at the 5-8 cr per resource i KNOW i can get on the market. So, If i'm only marking my prices at around 5cr per resource, how is this any worse than selling it at those prices on the market?

I can think of a few situations already, just on medium items that I've offered to let people get their own ore and metals and I'd put the house together for a small fee. In every situation the person takes a little time to research the costs involved in either mining or purchasing the resources and comes back and say, umm... no, thats ok, i'll pay you to do all that work.

So, how am I price gouging selling at nearly exactly what I can make off the pure resources? Taking the time to do all the leg work? Risking a crit fail everytime I click the combine button on a 20-30k resource house?

Maybe you need to explain that to me again.

I agree with those totally. Everytime someone sends me a tell asking for a price on something, let's say a Large House. I'll say I build large houses for 160k and they'll say **edit**??? I know a guy building them for 50k!

My response is: Bring me the 37,000 resources it takes to build one and I'll do it for 1k. They shut up and never respond again. Fine with me.

No matter how they put it there's a cap on all the servers, that means there's a cap on the house demand. Unless they makehouse mantinance the same as weapon rerair, by dropping down the total "health" of the object a small % with each repair you guyshave no furure.

Another note i just bought a small corellian house for 3k off the bazaar.

You know....I have an architect that only sells houses to me and I sell them very cheap, making a profit for myself and for him. If its a dying profession, why do we have more business than we have resources for.

I get flamed by architects all the time for the cheap prices but I have to ask them....how can my architect charge such low prices and still make a good profit?

Maybe the architects shouldnt have overcharged so much in the begining and concentrated on making enough harvestors that would allow them to create houses at a reasonable price (my architect says his total cost on resources is .5 credits/ unit).

maybe thats what we have to do... we have so much ore capacity we need to flood other trades markets with zero profit items. Im getting real close to doing it myself.

to answer his question.. time how long it takes to make a house vs how long it takes you to make a piece of armor.. now factor in critical fails with 27k ore... now factor in fact that you have to move your harvesters to follow the low grade ore, now factor in the costs of upkeep to harvesters (both yours and rentals), now factor in the ore you have to buy because you need a factory and a house to sell from... your COST of .5/ore is simplified and uninformed.. drive through when you know more about the trade.

The problem I have as an architect competing with low prices is that it FORCES you to harvest your own minerals. It's impossible to beJUST an architect, youhave to also be a miner. I want to be able to spend my time crafting and selling butbecause of the cheap sellers, I'm forced to spend the majority of my time maintaining an army of harvesters instead.

I would love to be able to simply buy my resources from a player who is adedicated 'miner' but I can't do that and keep my prices competitive. The cheapest you canbuy rawminerals foris about 3 - 4credits per unit so to make a profit (and cover for fails) you'd need to sell your crafted items for at LEAST 5 credits per resource needed. That puts a small house priceatminimum of$17-18k but it's impossible to sell at that price when others are selling for 10k and under. With the current market prices, it's impossible for acasual player to ever become a sucessful architect.

Personally I think the main thing that wrecked (some more then others) all the crafting markets is the destroy missions, too much money too fast. Where as the crafters takes hours to make items (including resource gathering, and combineing) meanwhile someone doing missions (prepatch) is getting 20k+ an hour.

Prices onEVERYTHING need to be waaay higher.
