Thread: pricing of experimented harvesters
just a note for you 2.... most people acknowledge that they make a profit at 3:1.
what they're saying is that you can usually sell resources at 3:1 or better with no concern for loss due to crit fails and a lot less work overall for the same or better profit margins.
hehe, well... actually on my server its extremely common to find average resources in bulk at 3cpu or more.
but i think you misunderstood what i meant... the common reaon for the 3 cpu is this... you can sell in bulk with no loss as i said. you can still make a profit at less than that, and if you don't want to sell resources no ones requiring you too... its just the reason people use the 3cpu mark as a guide is all.
I acknolodge that resoruces can sometimes be sold for the same price or perhaps sometime even more than I sell architect buildings for. Do you acknolodge that the actual cost of a resource is less than a cr a unit? Including overhead of re-deeding and travel and factory expenses? Do you acknolodge thatan architect business canbe VERY sucuessfull selling at or for even less than 3 cr a unit? Do you acknolodge that full experimentation adds almost no cost at all to our products?
It is all true you know. ![]()
Dayln, you're an idiot if you think none of those things add value to our product. especially since you are selling the most valuable equipment in the game. if i go run 20k crdit missions all day on dathomir i can make about 1 mil a day. if i lay 10 heavies extract rate 10 (70%) on an uber mineral that weaponsmiths would kill for (and there is always at least one that will go for at least 7 per unit) i can make the same with less work.
the fact is this. we use bulk minerals, and the average selling price on the market for minerals is 3:1. at least on sunrunner it is. that means my product should be priced no lower than 3:1, and SHOULD be priced at 4:1. if i sell out of 10 rated harvies (say 20 deeds) in 24hrs, that means they are priced too low for such a high demand and i need to raise my price to 5:1, or 6:1. how do you think it came to pass that scout blasters went from 3k-5k to 8k-10k? demand was high, prices NEED to go up. get your head out of your arse and be a part of an actual economy, ya goober.
You can argue all you want, and can call all the names you want. In fact it really makes me laugh.
But my bank account is growing by leaps and bounds ( over 800,000cr this weekend ), I am constantly inundated with orders on a server where other architects complain there are no sales to be had.
My business is successful, and will continue to be so until the market is totally saturated. I will continue to price my products where I want to price them, that price schedule has been extremly sucuessfull for me.
"You can argue all you want, and can call all the names you want. In fact it really makes me laugh."
Well that makes two of us you impertinent child. Oh wait, I'm laughing at you, not with you because you never back up your claims.
"But my bank account is growing by leaps and bounds ( over 800,000cr this weekend ), I am constantly inundated with orders on a server where other architects complain there are no sales to be had."
Well I have tons of sales at more cpu than you can dream of (180k - 250k) but I still don't know which server your on. I'm the guy who was going to buy every harvester you could make. Well I don't need to anymore kid, because you probably can't make what I'm selling. And making 800k in a weekend is chump change, I make that in less than a day. I.E. Dalyn: I'm J.P. Morgan and you're some street trash.

Well if you are on the Eclipse server (and I did see a Dalyn in Coronet, some scout thing) your doing a poor job. Average prices are set by people like me. Oh wait, I was smart enough to hang onto about 400k of thatTigart Steel (UT 1000). You are probably using some poor substitute.
Has anyone on any server seen Dalyn actually sell anything or have the title Master Architect over his head?
Dalyn I got a piece of heartbreaking news for you: I not only sell resources at a minimum 3cpu, but sometimes I charge as much as 20+ for good resources that weapon/armorsmiths need. Why not, they're charging 53.5cpu average on the high end stuff.
This requires me to have miners lined up (a challange in itself), bazaar shopping and travel time to get enough bulk of any particular resource for decent factory runs, etc.
It doesn’t break my heart kid, I am successful because most other architects sell for more than I do
( want to take a wager on if I have children that are older than you are? )
I don’t worry about my posts here actually enlightening anyone, people need to learn business the hard way, they really cant be told.
Iam not on the Eclipse server ( and my characters name is not Dayln ). Whenever a really good resource shows up I have several other members with open lots drop up to 10 heavy harvesters I keep as spares so as to take advantage of it, the other bonus of doing that is I pull up so much I don’t need to have any equipment pulling that kind of resource again for months. I am still sitting on over 600k of steel with both a Decay resistance and Unit toughness of over 950. As I don’t use that for anything but extraction units it should last me a long time. Same with my chemical with a unit toughness of 994.
I don’t particularly care if you believe me or not, I am just here to let the younger architects know that the profession is NOT DEAD and that with a little business sense you can still make a great living as an architect as long as you don’t get hung up in outdated facts that are no longer true.
The time like the first couple of months will never return, when everyone wanted structures and would pay anything to get them. The market has changed, and is continuing to change, those that can take advantage of the changes, and especially of architect competitors that cannot evolve their businesses will do very very well.
I'm getting tired of saying this.... A BER7 Medium is worth MORE money thana BER7 Heavy. It uses less power/maint and extracts at the same rate. It is therefore a more valuable product. If you sell BER7 heavy minerals at 125k, sell your BER7 MEDS for 150k. Quit being foolish and selling a BER8 med for LESS than a BER7 heavy!!! Doing such a thing is pure foolishness.
Is a 50-250/1.0 speed DL44 Pistol worth more than a 50-90/4.5 speed DX2? OF COURSE IT IS. Sell based on the quality and value of the product... NOT upon the resources needed.
I agree a BER 7 med is worth more as a harvestor than a BER 7 Heavy is. I dont make any BER 7 heavies, in fact I dont make any BER 7 meds either. 90% of all my orders are for a BER 10 Heavy.
Just because something is more useful, does not meanI charge mroe for it ( frightening isnt it ) I base my prices on what will move my products the best. And that means basing my prices mostly on one kinds of data.
What are my competitors selling them for ![]()
Just a though on the subject. I get tired of people saying that charging 4-5 CPU for stuff you build is ripping people off. I usually charge 4CPU, and it never amazes me at all the flaming i get for doing so. My theory is, I am selling my skill, not my resources. I can sell resources at 2-3 credits easily. I am a MASTER of my trade. In my opinion, I should make more with my resources than any random person with a harvester. And I think that selling nice harvesters(mediums at 7, or heavies at 10) should be a higher market. I have plenty of customers that think 30k for a BER 7 medium is more than fair. Besides the fact that it takes a master to make, it pulls in the same amount of resources for alot less cost. Those are my thoughts. Everyday I get on here and read posts of architects arguing with eachother, prices are going to vary. Some people like the walmart method, sell more, make less on each sale. To me, it works better to sell at a medium price at the cost of some people going to someone else. However, it works better for me... I dont play 24/7 I couldnt keep up with Walmarts production if i wanted. There are all kinds of different business methods in the real world, and in game, there is nothing wrong with any of them.... they are just different. So stop arguing about it and just get along =)

I am not arguing with anyone, I am not upset that people sell for 4 CPU, I am not anoyed with anyone that sells for 10 CPU. I agree, this is an open market and people can set their own prices and I wont complain.
But if you notice, I am not the one doing the complaining.
