Thread: Decay Poll

If stuctures and furniture start decaying, I will surrender all my Crafting skills, become a Combat-Class/CH and live out of my Bank.
Isn't stopping my structures of any type from decaying the reason I pay maintenance?
/houses - disagree
/harvesters - agree
/furnature - agree
Comments: I don't think the two structure types, houses and harvesters, should be lumped into the same bag. Here is the reason: Lets say that you knew your house was wearing down. Now, as a crafter myself, the thought of having to move scares the heck out of me. Basically, I would have to have two houses to move all my stuff in relay runs from the old house to the new one. Now, a warehouse type house could be set up for a PA to handle this, but it would make player city planning difficult. Also, the potential for bugs and loosing everything in a house is just too great. I have been a droid engineer since the first week of release, and have too much too loose if my house goes poof. I keep a month's maintance in my house just for this reason, and over 20K maint in my NPC vendor.
With that said, I think that harvesters and furnature should have a (very slow) decay rate. There needs to be some ballance between an architect having sustainable income, and longevity of the items for the people who buy them.
I think it would be great if architects could repair these items, too. However, hopefully it would better implemented than the ''Droid Repair Tool''...

On the following grounds the CH Vitality is a great system why not use a similar system for other appliations. For instance when the maintenance pool goes below 0 the vitality or staus of the building drops....this can only be reparied with a special tool and any drop below 75% would mean a decrease in efficiency and such.
I think furniture should be a time based decay with a mail notification that X furniture in Y house is below 10% and will fall apart soon. When furinture falls apart create a destroyed lookin graphic and replace the original with it So that it doesnt dissapear but that a destroyed furniture item is place in its place.
There is my two cents.
Lo
Yes decay is a must of some sort agree.
Harvesters i dont care about .. im concerned with furniture..
However a good purposal if they wont give us furniture decay would be to add dyes to furniture this would give architects complete interior design prospects.
Designing groups of furniture is specific colors, would add alot of flavor to everyones individuality.
Decay on structures is dumb!
Additional Cons:
(1) I have to reset all the furniture in my house every month because my house keeps decaying to nothing.
(2) Structures already decay, you just pay maintenance to PREVENT decay. I WILL NOT pay both maintenance AND have my structures decay. Get real!
(3) Architect STILL don't get money very often because the decay time will have to be long to be reasonable
Look, here is the solution for architects. All players currently have to pay maintenance to keep their structures from decaying. Why not just give all architects 10% of the credits that players pay to maintenance each day for the structures that the architect has built.
Lets say maintenance on a house is 500 credits a day, and maintenance on harvesters is500 a day (these numbers are not exact, I know, but they are close and just for illustration. I buy a house for 75k and 6 harvesters for 1k each. After I place these structures, the architect gets 350 credits a day of my maintenance fees. Thats 2.5k credits a week for as long as the structures stand in addition to theall the profit from the sale itself.
Isn't this a better solution?
/agree with structure decay
-- though this will have to be carefully planned, I may be an architect happy to hear news about structure decay to create a better market, but I am also a casual gamer.... architects need a huge amount of resources if I only play once a week or so I want my structures to last long enough so I'm not running off and sampling 4k of ore by hand to build myself new structures every time I play. That said, it's still an excelllent idea should the rate be based on continuous run time. Perhaps adding a function for an architect to repair a placed structure would help this situation, it would give us another job to do, promote galaxy travel to do the repair and ease the player frustration by keeping the structure placed. (tho I'm sure this one would be a doozie for the devs he he)
/disagree with furniture decay
this may work someday but I really dont sell much furniture anyways and I'm certain most players will just go without the furniture after it decays
Homes - I pay a maintenance fee to upkeep them, its not my fault architects don't get a portion of that fee. If anything, Architects should be able to make home repair kits that we have to buy from you to maintain our homes with, and you could make a profit that way. But adding a "decay" along with a "maintenance" fee that is already there is bogus.
Harvesters - same as homes above.
Furniture - I would love to buy furniture and put up in my home to go along with my display of my clothes, however, since I have a small amount of room for displaying all the possible products that I have, I have virtually no furniture up at this time.
People seem to think that if this goes in, your going to make even more money. Well, I disagree, your profession will end up being hurt greater in the long run. A lot of people in the game are not "rich", and strugle to make ends meet (they dont have the advantage of having the missions that paid a lot of money like in the past). I think that most people will try to work around this if decay goes in. For example. I can drop the homes I have totally if I really wanted to, I do almost all of my business directly with a person, and I have a R2 unit with a crafting station in it for me. I can buy almost all of the materials I would need off of the bazaar or other people, never pay ANY maintenance fee, would never have to worry about ANY decay, actually.. thats starting to sound good even without a "DECAY" being put into place... as it is I spend 30k/ day on maintenance fee's alone....... hmm my profit would go up greatly.. I could even turn around and sell the homes I have and make around 300k from that....
