Thread: which is better?
that depends on what kind of pve were talking about here. if you are trying to do smoething dangerous like the lord cyssc mission, i would suggest the GSF since its much harder to hit and therefor alot more survivable. if you are just farming tier5s in kessel or deep space for loot i would take the heavy x since you are at no risk from the npcs and the only thing that matters to you is how fast you can 'vape them and move on to the next spawn.
that said the heavyx can do anything that the GSF can, but the GSF leaves more room for inexperianced pilots.

I agree, except for taking the heavy x into DS. It is good to farm with, but if an enemy player jumps in with a JSF you are toast. Unless you get the jump on him before he see's you. Unless I'm just goofing around(plan on taking KSE up against the ISD) I never go into DS with anything bigger than the GSF or a-wing.

You know that nobody ever listens to this advice, so why keep cramming down ppl's throats?
Same goes for "read the faq" while it is good advice, the lazy ones just won't do it.
sometimes these posts can just be missed.(except the stickied ones.)
1. Heavy X-Wings do quite well in Deep Space. In fact, a good pilot who knows what they're doing can be very successful, especially since the X-Wing can soak up quite a bit of damage properly managed (but wait, waaaaah, PvP is one hit kills! LIES!). It has the mass to hold components to make up for it's slightly slower handling.
2. Telling people to read the FAQ is in the hopes that they will learn, since most people posting that are new to the forums.
3. To the original poster - why not try flying both and decide for yourself? Belbullab's are running 200-300k on the servers I play, and the Heavy X-Wing is free when you do the quest.

And sometimes a person may not have time to read through a bunch of threads to get this info.
So basically you are just wasting your own time to leave comments like this.
*just my opinion*
Thanks for the responses, at least to those that were helpful. As for not looking into other posts to find the info: I didn't see any other threads that indicated I might get an answer to this question. I also know about the differences between each ship but i thought picking other players brains would be more beneficial in terms of getting useful information.
To the poster that suggested trying both ships: thanks I will do that. I already looted the Belbullab from NK and I'm finishing the Advanced X-wing mission today. After that I'll test each of them out.

The funny thing about not having time to look it up and starting a new thread is this:if the information isn't too hard to find, you'll almost certainly get it LATER than by looking yourself. Now, it requires less ACTIVE time on your part, but also ends up spending other people's time.
Oh, and as for dying in DS with the Heavy X, so what? If somebody shows up in DS you can expect not to have so much time to fight PvE even if you win, since there's a good chance they'll be back soon ... it might be worth it to farm elsewhere.
