I'm planning on publishing my decorating macros... for those of you who don't know I've been writing macros that /target items and move them for me.
These macrosrebuild things like a fireplace, a chandelier, a fishtank automatically. You don't have to have decorating skill to use them.
I don't want to hurt anyone's business by flooding the market with free, identical versions of these frequently requested decorations... but I want these macros to live on in this game and be used and studied.
I want other decorators to take advantage of this powerful tool and be able to create their own macros and make their highly-demandedskills more accessible to others.
But before I post these macros I wan't to make sure I'm not hurting the community I'm hoping to help. Please let me know what your opinion is.
Here's screenshots of the finished products for the macros I've written.
Large Aquarium (Makes outside of tank only: rocks plants and fish are freehanded. fits medium naboo house)
Small Aquarium (Macro moves all but fish. free-standing, any location)

I can't call myself a Interior decorator, but I am a Master Architect on Chilastra. I've made a few things, few big fishtanks, some fireplaces... Posting these, just doesn't seem right. When I see a display in peoples houses. I can only think, wow, must have took alot of time, patience, and effort to build this!
I can't speak for everyone, but this would be kinda boring. Seeing such things everyday wouldn't be such a pleasure, like it is to see them displayed on this day. People that make these themselves... get my full respect.
My opinion =/

Hmm! That doesn´´t sound any fun, massproducing the same decorations all over the galaxies.
Homedecorations should be unique for every single home otherwise it would be no fun in it.
As for the macros it would take longer to write them, than it would to place it for hand.

Even though it does sound cool, I am a master Architect on dantooine i think it does defeat the purpose of trying to make this stuff and having fun with it
still sounds cool though
also do any of you know a cool fireplace that doesnt involve the 2 tool chests on the side? I saw a really cool fireplace that i wanted to make but i forgot where i saw it lol so i forget what they used for it hehe.
Thanks a lot

I dunno. If you had the macros and parts ready and on hand, it would come in handy for some customer orders. I can see circumstances where identical decor would be desirable.
However, I prefer the "created by hand" method myself. Lends to moments of creative inspiration and allows for customer desires and preferences, etc.
As for Fireplaces: I never saw any I really liked so after poking around a bit to find out what some other "parts" looked like, I designed one I did like.

I can see this being a good thing, if you put your trademark on it- that is, one prominent piece being named "Fishtank Model 1 by Moolyssa" or "Fireplace Model 1" et cetera. Nice things like these ought to be available to anyone, not just the super-rich or architects with a lot of free time. The fact of the matter is that most architects charge a fortune to make these things because of it. So anything that can help the poor afford nice things like these is good IMO. Of course, there would still be a market for custom fireplaces and fishtanks, since people would want to show off with an exquisite or unique one.

Extremely nice decorations by the way. 2 thumbs up. Giving away macroes for them seems like a waste of your time and talent to me tho. Unless u have a way of putting your name on the decrations I would recommend you charging to go decorate poeples homes instead. I would definitely pay you well if you'd come decorate mine
.
P.S. What can I offer you to make you come to tempest and decorate my house??

The reason why I wanted to publish my work macro-wise was because i'll be leaving swg soon... I wanted to leave the macros as a legacy. But I don't want to jeopardize anyone's livlihood or stifle the creativity of others.
I still think i'd like to post at least one of them, as a working example for anyone who wants to try out the macro or see how it works. And I think the imperial emblem is a good candidate.
The imp emblem isn't a typically requested decorative house item like a fireplace or chandelier, and I can't see it hindering all the (nonexistant) imperial table top symbol varieties out there.

I think it's cool what you're doing. Some people will want to do it themselves, so they might be dismayed about you putting out an "Idiot's Guide to Home Decorating". But hey no big deal, I think in general the promulgation of built decorations is good. Most people wouldn't even think to combine things the way that you and others have done. As more people have these things, the more creative their thinking could be if they get interested and the more people that see it.
Like on Flurry, I saw this giant chessboard in this city that was about to go poof. A screenshot is poor way of keeping a concept alive.

I say go for it. There are a LOT of people who never visit the forums, who will never know of these. I think of it as a reward to those who spend time here. Also, the more people who are able to have these decorations, the more items Architects will sell. Compensate by upping your prices a bit on the parts used for them.

as a horride decorator i would love to see these. I have tried to make half way descent fish tanks but have always come up short. As far as macro i would love to see how you did it.

I'd say let the world have them. (especially me
) People want a custom home done more then they want one or two pieces added in my experience so it wouldn't cut down too much in decorating jobs plus (and don't take this the wrong way) excepting the chandeliers and imperial emblem, what you have there isn't that great. I've seen some incredible fireplaces in different homes incorporating many different pieces that I never would have thought up. There is practicallya hundred different ways to make them with little variations; same goes for aquariums. Plus the one aquarium requires a nubian medium house, won't work well in any large, small,or other style of med.
Those can be considered IKEA designs and promote an increase in more original attempts for aquariums and fireplaces. After I eventually get my pool table macro'ed for you that will also help promote different variations of pool tables to exist, even moreso then there are now. This can only enhance the "profession" by pushing for an increase in abstract thoughts and move away from the standards.
