The profession is dying, with no decay on architect products this is inevitable. The Urban Planner is NOT going to be any better, there will be even less demand for those products, only entire cities will want stuff and will rarely want more than one of each item.

Count the number of planets and the number of cities allowed on each planet, that is the total number of customers for an Urban Planner. That is not going to solve much f0r Architect.

Without decay of one sort or another, it will become a dead end class as far as a business is concerned.
I am having fun riding the wash of water as it rushes down the toilet, but I have no illusions about what will happen in the end.

pfft...

Im loving the profession so far.. It just takes a little bit of advertising and perhaps new innovative ideas... When im low on sales, i do decorating.. yes thats right, i go into peoples houses and do it full up with furniture and other odds and ends.. 250-350 per medium, 300-400k per large and 500-600k per PA

not as great money as selling harvesters, but hey, its something and its fun

My furniture vendor also does surprisinly well... Heck i could live off it and the few mil credits ive made in the past 2-3 weeks from selling the heavies..

But customers do return, had one the other nite who's harvesters had decayed so he bought 5 large asap from me.. still having fighters asking for large homes since htey have nothing else better to blow their credits on and just living ona high traffic planet with my title up all the time and posting on the boards advertising vendor specials and speaking to everyone i do business with in the game about what i am selling brings in stuff..

People dont just come to you and say heres 180k for a large house.. you gotta go out and get business sometimes.

Sorry you are having a drought, but really i love this profession.. I especially love the Interior Designer title I get to wear and hearing the person say "WOW omg it looks fantastic" after I finish decorating their homes.

Would you like a harvester to go with that couch sir?

hehe

Me, I stayed an Architect because even with it's troubles, I am still enjoying it for now. I have had to turn away customers or tell them it will take a few days because I can't keep up. I don't undercharge but I don't overcharge either. I am constantly getting referals and just simply can't pull in resources fast enough to fill orders.

So, for now, I am making a fair profit and enjoying the class because I am building things people want and have a customer base. Everytiem I think things are slowing down and I can finally get some resources built up, I get someone else asking about something because someone I did right has refered them to me.

So, until the day when things run totally dry and I am loosing money on keeping my harvesters going, I will keep going and enjoying the fruits of my labor.

Now if we could just talk the Dev Team into giving us some decent ore spots.

Okay,

I am really looking for some serious feedback on this issue. I am a master architect. I busted my hump to get there. MY fledgling guild members and I sweated through the assembly of the Pa hall pieces and we decked it out in grand fashion.

Now what?

I have been a consistent seller at a reasonable price. I like the rest of you wish to throttle those of this profession who have chosen to cut rate our goods to less than cost. Our's are one of the few items with no decay, but weapon smiths sell for a ton more than we do on a CPU basis.

I have not had an order for a factory or other large structure in a while. I have had no movement on small houses at all.

Why should I remain an architect? I am really serious here. Why should I stay?

I can build all the harves my guild will need for a long time to come. I can stock us up on small houses so we will not run out for a long time.

Why should I not cut bait on being an architect and go to weaponsmith or some other profession?

I know this is more of a mind rambling then most things, but I would really like some help on this.

Thanks,

Unless you are holding out hope that Urban Planner is going to be worth anything, I guess there really isn't any reason you should remain an architect. Surrender the points and go do something fun.

I am enjoying architect as far as I am maintaining my costs and selling from my vender. I have no illusions of what this class is not. The undercutters and backstabbing makes it hard. Not being guild backed is a disadvantage. The crit fails can be devastating (especially to new novices). I have long ago realized there is very little gained from being a master. I am devoting the precious skill points else where for fun. Although I can make large homes, I will not. No interest in risking precious resources I can sell (or use on heavy equipment) for a deed that I may or may not sell. I definitely have no desire to make a PA hall or become an urban planner. I am where I want to be in the architect skill tree.... profitable, less stress, and more fun.

I may sound a bit jaded, but it seems that every other yahoo in the game wants to go architect, at least the ones that do not want to be a CH! LOL! There should be changes in the crafting professions, and architect needs some badly. The changes need to be early on in the profession. It is too easy to be an architect. If it was a worthless grind in the beginning like weaponsmith, it may deter the masses.

As i indicated in another post. I dont see reason to remain Architect, people have devoloped an attitude that we overprice. I am unwilling to spend my relaxation time agressively competing and worrying about harvestors while others kill awesmoe stuff, build cool weapons and generally have fun.

We are not here to do other people favors. Weaponssmiths charge the earth for decent weapons, we deserve the same respect. Even those who make Atrchitect suceed are still merely outlets for the masses doing nothing more than providing a service.

At least weaponsmiths can vary their weapons, experiment and have cool add on's etc.

We build houses....the same houses...everytime....

Maybe one day they will revisit architect and let em paint stuff, have custom designs. I'm not willing to pay 14.99 a month and not have fun.

My opinion as far as the urben planer goes is like this. The only ones making cities will be PA's and all of those PA's will have a master architect who makes them. So the market for non PA alligned Master Architects wont get any better.

I agree 100% with this post. There is no reason to remain an architect. I became a master architect 2 weeks after the game we released. I made a butt-load of money, and I spent that butt-load of money testing other items/things in the game. Currently, I am depleting my huge resource stockpile, and as many harvesters as I can, to finance myself once I quit the profession. I already have a nice little nest egg, but I know it won't last forever.

But back to the main point, if you can make enough harvesters/small houses/factories to keep your guild in business for a long time, then by all means do so, and move on to another profession. My recommendation is to stock yourself up with large harv's & fusions before you do to support yourself if you choose another crafting profession.

Oh dont get me wrong, I am having a blast as an Architect and will continue to be one as long as I am enjoying myself. But Im not blind, look down the road. As a business, this one is in the early stages of dying.
