Thread: Well.. Honest Thoughts???
Wow! Lots of changes. No waypoints showing up on my datapad from before the CU. Got lost a couple times. Can't use my stim-Cs. Not high enough level I guess. I've been playing since the beginning of SWG. Master Archie, Master Artisan, Master Medic and not very high in Marksman. Level 14 it says.
Got incaped twice and then tried to use a stim -A that I crafted but got incaped again before I could figure out how to get it to work. Thenkilled and cloned.
This is going to take a while to get used to! It's a good thing I took down all my harvesters before this update so I don't have to worry about servicing them. LOL. Too early to say good, bad or otherwise. Sure different.

1 Good thing:
I got to Respec my Combat toon enough times to get him all the combat profession badges. ![]()
1 Bad thing:
Because the CU that $OE pushed out to us I have seen a lot of great friends that I have made in this game cancel their accounts and leave. The loss of friends to me means the loss of fun in the game. Its both sad and understandable to see good people leave a game that we all loved so much. ![]()
My Opinion (which I am certain matters none to anyone at $OE or $ONY):
I am deeply disappointed in this CU. Between my roommate and I we had 10 accounts that we ran (that has now been reduced to 5 accounts.) Master combat professions / Master Crafters and Merchants to carry our items. Our inventory is a little over 6000 total items currently that have to be re-listed one at a time. Frankly I have not seen the $OE really cares about how the players feel about this game. The truth is that once we get a good part of our inventory sold off my roommate is dropping all his other accounts and I am going to drop down to 3 accounts. I will keep this account as it is my Master Artisan, Master Architect & Master Droid Engineer, I will keep my Master Doc / Master Merchant and I will keep my combat account. From this house alone $OE is going to lose $1260 annually. I just wish that the $ONY & Lucas Arts stockholders knew how they were making fans feel.

1 good thing...
Crafting itself is largely unchanged it seems. Sure there is some shakeup, but you still get to experiment, still get to use factories. I can still enjoy doing that part of the game.
1 bad thing...
The icons. I hate the colored icons. They are hard for me to tell what they do now. I LIKED the simpler icons.
your opinion...
I'm not crazy about it, but I'm going to give it a shot. I'm switching all 3 of my characters over to crafting though and not going to do any combat. Combat is now boring and slow IMO, not improved at all.
1 good thing...
I think that combat did need to be fixed, and I laugh inside at all the combat people whining because they can't kill things. Welcome to my world.
1 bad thing...
The icons. The little bouncy people that they have for entertainer flourishes give me a headache.
your opinion...
Overall, I think I like it. It's interesting to look around and see what's changed.
One good thing: PvP seems to be "fixed".
One bad thing:
-While most professions are somewhat balanced, there is still a tripple mastery available which will likely reign uber.(Might be fixed, not sure atm, havent tried it).
-A lvl based combat and character system. Things that I have avoided since EQ1 hit the shelfves and a lot of friends fell into the lvl-crack addiction.
-A watering down of profession iddentities that further exacerbates the lvl system.(yes Gunman the level system was there, hidden, unnoticed. It was great that way. It should have stayed that way).
-A magical healing system. (This one really destroys the immersion for me).
-Unsightly icons, that make the interface look and feel cartoonish and out of place.
-No armor for anyone other than a combat class.
-A combat profession health based system.
-A combat system based on your lvl and not the cratures lvl, where as a durni cant hit ya for 1k damage one day, and 100 pts the next. The only difference might be a couple of more boxes in your template, yet it is still the same freaking bunny.(Might be "fixed" with the last patch before it went live, but not sure).
-No time to work out bugs, and this thing is going live no matter what.(It did go live ).
-Ententainers, blah. Squad Leader, hehehe. Ranger also down the drain.(It seems by all accounts you can add CH to the list. Not to mention the crafting classes getting the shaft).
-This is not the system that was proposed at the correspondent's summit, late last year to Alpha Forums nor early this year.
-No more "Its done when its done", it will be done some time around May 5th. Atleast you wont have to hear "Soon" anymore.(I was wrong about this one too hehe).
-You can get stuck in combat mode and not be able to do a coddang thing about it, except go find another NPC to hopefully only incap ya, otherwise get killed.
-Intuitive combat? Look for a level same or below yours. Really intuitive.
-You must now wait for the CURB Revamp.
-Etc, etc, so on and so forth.
-My Opinion
Will there be new players? Sure, probably a boatload.
Unfortunatly for me, the game will have lost its uniqueness as current changes stand. A game that wasnt like every other MMO out there. They have changed that now, nothing can stop it. Some of the key things that held an immersion factor for me will be gone. I am not everyone however, and I am sure there plenty who disagree with me.
I am done. I am in the process of packing. I have no idea why I am packing. I doubt it willever be uinique and unlike the others for me to return. I guess there is always that one chance.
A good thing is that combat is more exciting and not as boring along with the colored icons. Those are great.
A bad thing is that it is kind of hard just to kind of run around from place to place with no combat skills and no armor.
My opinion overall is that it turned out pretty good with onlya few issues that need to be worked out.
One good thing? Fewer crafters with which to compete.
One bad thing? Damn, picking only one... It took me forty minutes of dancing and ducking to get at my harvestors on Yavin tonight, leaving me no time to re-load my vendors with stuff that's already on them. *claps hand over mouth--he...said...only (stop struggling, damn it)...one bad...thing*
My opinion? I can't form an opinion of the game changes themselves because thingsare so clearly out of whack now they couldn't have been intended and will have to be adjusted. Not to mention they failed miserably in recognizing our hierarchy of needs and completely failed to address dis-satisfiers like forcing us to re-load vendors, destroying the value of our existing inventories, sprinkling magic crap dust on our stocks of ns shards and other carefully cultivated stockpiles.

Ummmm...In the words of Josh from the movie, The Core...Give me a minute on this one.
1 bad thing...
Only 1? well ok...The CU, in it's entirety. Think about it like this; you take your car into a garage to be service. When you go to pick it up again they give you a motorcycle back instead. Would you take it? No. It's not what you originally bought and wanted. It wouldn't matter how many colorful icons they paint on it, it's not your car. Why in the world didn't they just come out with SWG-2? Many other game titles have done this and the original game is still running strong. Half-Life is a good example. I play Half-Life and Half-Life 2 alternatively all the time.
and
your opinion...
I am greatly thankful that I play a non-combat character...Master Architect, Master Merchant, Master Artisan. PreCU I did have a smitering of Pistoleer. But now I have respeced it to scout skills. The Mask Scent skill is proving much more helpful for harvester runs than the FWG pistol that I am no longer certified in now. To be honest, since CU I have not had many problems making harvester runs yet. I have actually run into fewer 'red dots' the past couple days. And even though there has been a group of Trade Feds out side my shop, they have yet to attack me. It has made me wonder if having no armour on and no weapon in hand has anything to do with it.
Please keep your answers brief and to the point..
thanks..
The good thing:
1) Well, I have been flying more. I think the space graphics were enhanced a bit. Also, they added cool new music during combat.
2) I took off my Ubese armor finally. Sure, I would rather have kept it on as it offered pretty decent protection from kinetic, but I rather like that I see more people walking around in clothes. I used to be one of a number of people in Ubese in any starport. Now I have created a unique look for myself. Heck I even bought some BLING!
3) I have inherited about 4 million creds from people who are leaving (have left) the game.
The Bad thing:
1) Combat SUX. Let me be clear on this point: Ground combat was a chore before, now it is positively agonizing. I am a CL 7 (so don't mess with me:robotvery-happy
I am constantly incapped by fuzzy little critters that would yeild 1 xp if I managed to kill them. I did manage to off some kreetle earlier in the game, but I stopped fighting after the 4th time a dwarf Nuna handed me my A$$. S'ok, I hated fighting anyway.
2) WT_ is up with the waypoints! Everyone knew they weren't ready to publish this product, but they rammed it down the throats of thier clients. Newsflash: We are not fanboys, we are customers! We pay SOE for a serivce, this is not charity, you aren't doing us a favor of some sort. Figure this one out, and do it soon!
Re-load every item in our vendors without the re-list button merchants have been rioting for years about? Why?
3) Considerably more laggy. I am nbot sure why, but my ping is about 100% higher that it was pre-CU. Still not unbearable, but I am hardly ever at 30fps anymore.
