Use the round Naboo houses for shops. Only 1 lot.

Still, we need more lots. 10 is not nearly enough. I'm using the 8 that my alt. isn't using and between a house and a structure factory, I'm only left with 14 lots to work with. Two for power, and now i can only drop 12 harvesters.

Hey guys,

Currently I am a 3-4-4-4 arcitect, and there is one problem that I have run into. I run a shop on the bria server just outside coronet (takes up 2 lots) I also have my own naboo house on dantooine (takes up 2 lots). This overall leaves me with 6 lots left, those six lots are used for 3 factories (all structure) which leaves me with 0 lots left. Now, normally I could just go rent a lot from someone, but it is a really big hassle. One of the problems because of this that I run into, Is that I have to buy alot of the resources that I need. Unfortunatly alot of these places either charge outragous prices for the high quality materials such as steel, ore, lube oil... or they only have low quality stuff, and many times I cant find anything at all. This is really difficult for me because I cannot operate any harvestors, even though I see stuff that will run 5-6 cpu...

So anyway what would you guys think if they made it so that when you complete each line in arcitecture, you gain an additional 1-2 lots, then once you hit master you gain an aditional 2 lots from that... so overall you gain 5-10 aditional lots which can be put to use...

As I see it, Im going to be a master Arcitect, and master Armorsmith... which means Ill be needing alot of factories to produce my goods... and at a 10 lot max, Im in trouble

The solution is to give all master crafting classes (except maybe artisan) the Master ability "Place Factory" similar to the cantina skill Chefs and Dancers/Musicians get. The Place Factory ability would grant you 1 free factory of any type without consuming a lot for it. Likewise the Place Cantina skill should grant you the ability to place a cantina for 3 lots instead of 5. The tradeoff : remove the ablity to declare residence in a cantina.

The idea would need tweaking but it's there...

I was just talking to my buddy about this today. It should fall under construction. As an architect you should gain 1 - 2 Slots per IE... 1 for Novice 1 for I-IV and 2 for master. you would gain 6 extra slots. I also think that by penalizing Architects by making their factories cost 2 slots that is also unfair. The most under paid profession has the highest slot costs. I think that by granting architects extra slots it will enrich the profession not detract. I just don't want the darn market to flood with architects either.... ahhhh always two sides.

One of the biggest problems (and I was one too) is the under cutting the "New Masters" do to sell some of thier product. I spent alot of money to get MA... So I wanted the quick buck, I got it but lost money in the long run. I price my equipment in the median range, so I can sell, but do not undersell. I tell people when they say I am over priced "Yes buy from XXXXX he may have it now, but I have it constantly. I have developed quite a clientel', almost too many. I want to sell to the public, but cannot keep up with demand from my clients as it is. Sorry to digress, but I needed to say that somewhere.

No doubt, I can run about 14 harvesters after houses/fusions, and if I stick them all on a 80% steel, il never see that stuff, its sold before I even get off the planet.

Heck, iv had some architects send me tells saying tehy seen my miners in a good spot, and wanted to buy the resources, so, no doubt architects cant keep up.

And they CERTIANLY need more lots, I use 2 accounts to run everything, but im not an architect "yet(Bloody little blue box..)" Would be nice to get a lot bonus

this has been brought up about once a week sinse the game went retail.

they are not going to give us extra lots. imagine the outcry from other crafters if architects recieved extra lots. guild leaders that have 9 of their lots taken up in a guild hall that are not crafters... there would be much jumping up and down...

dont want to rain on your parade, but being realistic, it is not going to happen.

want extra lots? get another account.. the extra cash seo get from the thousands of players that have bought extra accounts for more lots alone means no one will ever have more than 10 lots.

another solution is to move to test centre. leave what you have behind and change servers to test centre. TC is the only server where you can have more than 1 toon on the same server.. indeed, you can have up to three toons per account on TC. thats 30 lots per account.

I need these extra lots! I have 2 for my house...4 for my two factories (when will they make them 1 lot again?)...which only leaves me with 4 lots for mining! This is not enough, and I go through 1-3 million credits on resources a week!

I agree we are not getting extra lots.... but it would be nice. I am more against all factories except structure taking 1 lot when architects need factories, and they get hammered with a "lot penalty" I think that should be the first thing to push for. I choose to live with another player, and piggy back off other player's shops. I try to save all my slots the best I can. I havest Carbonite ore mostly, and secondly steel.

i am effected by this just like everyone else here, so dont get me wrong...

but look at it this way.

a factory that makes stimpacks, pistols, cloaths, control units, armor, food.... these are all small items right? thus a small factory is needed to make them.

now, on the other hand we have a factory that is capable of making walls, heavy extractors, houses, guild halls and city halls if you really wanted to.... a much larger factory is needed. agreed?

think of it from someone elses point of view. other crafters and the devs. structure factories make the largest items in the game, so this means they should take more lots than a factory that makes items that are much much smaller.

i am not saying i agree with this logic, but this is the logic that was used when it was decided that our factories should take 2 lots instead of 1.

a more practical way to look at this issue might be the efficiancy of structure factories. because they are larger, perhaps they should be faster than other types of factories. or have double the input/ output hopper size... this is logic. the devs like logic (i am sure they are all star trek fans at heart, live long and prosper, nanoo, nanoo or what ever). they would more likely listen to these types of alterniatives rather than a stamping of foot style message about my factory takes more lots than someone elses does... it has a my daddy's a fireman! ring to it.

There areafew of options available to you.

(i) get rid of the 2nd house. I've ever only had the one house, which is a combined shop/residence. If you need to store stuff off-planet, have a talk to one of your servers local Master Merchants. They are generally happy to allow you to place a merchant in a Mall, etc. This cuts down on lot usage (and depending on how popular the Mall is) could increase your sales.

(ii) Have a talk to some fellow residents and see if you can either borrow a static (ie; permanent) couple of lots of them for placement of factories. You can also go in with some other architects in your town and share one (or more) structure factories. In the city I run we have 4 structure factories that are available to all the architects in town. Its run on a first come, first served basis but has worked well to date (they are all on the lots of a fellow residents alt character).

(iii) advertise on other servers and get into some lot sharing. Lot sharing is ideal for us crafters as they do not need to be moved at all, and can be easily reciprocated (especially if you are talking Architect to Architect). This is something I would like to see more off happening in here.

(iv) get a 2nd account. This is the option most folks seem to go for (not one that is my cup of tea but thats my own view) but it does mean buying a 2nd copy of the game, paying a 2nd subscription, etc. But when you are competing with folks who run two, three or even 5 accounts, it may be worth considering.

Extra lots would be great, but who would you give them too? (I personally would like to see a specific "Miner" profession that had the full 10 lots and everyone restricted to 5 or 6 only).

... I see one problem with that though.... Prices for resouces would not come down, miners would just get richer lol. Not that making money is a bad thing, I believe in the capitalistic SWG society. As for a post I saw about the architect profession dying, this is not true it is just falling out of fashion again. I will do like I always do go semi dormant for a while sell here and there and wait till there are few architects again. I love how quickly people give this profession up. It is the only one I have seen this way. I love this profession for one very cool reason..... how many DOOD Archs have you guys met. Most of them are very helpful and very cooperative. Just some inspiration to us true crafters hang in there, it is capitalism, supply is high for architect products now, but in a few week when holo grinders are not trying to recoop prices will rise again.

Sorry to be off topic again, but this thread seems to be a great discussion.

BTW anyone not on eclipse want to trade slots with me? Just a question.... could someone design a cool color signature, I am HTML illiterate.
