Thread: Architect Profession slowly dying

I personally am hitting a wall. There is very little demand for harvesters since hologrinders quit. The devsbasically created a huge market for harvesters during the massive hologrind after christmas. Now that everyone hastheir harvestersthere is lttile demand for them anymore. I have sold maybe 20 in past 2 weeks.I havebeenselling about 30 per week heavies and mediums up until about this time.I will be leaving architect after i make myself a nice fleet of 13's and 14 ions. No real need to use strictly BER13's anyways I harvest at least 400k units metal a week mostly ore. They need to give us something that decays so that a new market is created. I buy new weapons almost every other day as i find something new and better. Maybe if they changed the BER to show how much better your harvesters are than someone else's it would help. Maybe give us decimal numbers to show differences. Like 12.4BER versus 12.8BER on finals to show our better materials and/or experimentation. New patch has given more chances to get better experimentation with aprons and skill mod clothes. I have been an architect for 4 months and just finally got 120 assembly and 120 experimentation. But being a wookievery few will need or be able to wear these clothes when i leave profession. The devs need to do something. There is alwyas a new relatively large market for new weapons, armor, clothes food and meds but a small one for harvesters, houses and crafting station. Not that many new people playing the game and there are enough harvesters on Chilastra that the price of grinding quality metals has gone down to 1-2 cpu. Radioactive energy is currently at 75k for 100k units. Just my 2 cents.

Maybe in next patch there will be new planets to build on but i will probably not grind thru architect again.

The life has been sucked out of this game.......thanks SOE.

I agree, even though I have actively quit selling (well rather advertising) my heavies, Iwasselling upwards of a dozen of each type each week. But after the patch, I have sold maybe a 10th of that. The real cutter is that I now haveex-grinders trying to sell heavies and mediums back to me. Initially Iwas buying them for re-sale, but with sales plummeting I'm now turning folks back. There are some new folks coming into the server who could potentially be a source of sales in a few weeks time, but no where near as many as there was a couple of months ago (and nothing to compensate for the folks I know who have quit the game or who have just "disappeared").

So as aresult, I'm slowly working on bailing out of Master Architect and am just building up stock of furniture (which still seems to sell funnily enough) and equipping my fleet with 20 of each type for future personal/city/guild use. I'm in no hurry but in a couple of weeks I'll be needing the skill points back.

Without decay on houses and harvestors, and SOE's reluctance to allow PvP to include buildings, there is not much future in architecting from my POV. Pretty soon you will start to see Medium BER10's appear on the bazaars as people bail out of grinding (and the resource suppliers start to bail out as well owing to reductions in the number of people buying grind material) and want to make some money back. When that happens you can kiss goodbye to the profession.

wow...on the same server, two architects are having the opposite experience. I think that the architect professions has its ups and downs for different architects. FOr instance, I have made more money in the past month than in the 2 months before that combined. Maybe it will go up again...maybe architects will get a role in the GCW. *thinks about starting strike, then decides against it*

You will always need a new weapon, new armor, new vehicles, and so on..

What you wont need to renew (if you pay your maintenance) are harvesters, homes, crafting stations, and furniture...

In other words, everything an Architect makes..

Read our "Top 5" thread about Renewable Source of Income. We all basically knew that the market was saturating. This thread is our attempt to get real ideas together and get them read by the developers.

Elliot - I do agree with you, the last 2 weeks before the patch I sold more heavies than I had sold in ages, and the last 3 months have been wild - but the last couple of days have been flat (500k a day is way down on what was happening before hand). Maybe I should advertise more

hehe...maybe we should both advertise more. *thinks about making more that 150 walls a week...decides to keep with the buisness he has*

well this deffinately isn't good to read... I just started my architect training just for the fun of it, no holo grinding involved... Hoping to make some money, as I have very little, but it seems I have shafted myslef, and chosen the wrong profession. Hope things turn around for us...

This a a mixed emotion post.

For those of you leaving the profession im sorry to see you go really. At the same time though you couldnt make me happier. I know that sound treable but its true the more architects that quit the more business I get and the more profitable the profession becomes. Kinda like rl huh. The architect profession is saturated right now. There are just to many of us. But as more and more drop out for other more profitable ventures, The saturation stops and the profession begins to "dry up". At that point the profession will be at a low. Ill be making a killing on stuff because of lack of compatition. And people will start becoming architects again because of the profit. Its one visous cycle. On my server its not to bad atm. Im still doing almost whatI did pre-patch. Ya its gone down a little but its not bad. What im waiting for is the expantion. When that hits there will be a burst of new player citys. Ill make anough in the month or two following to semi-retire.

Like I said Im sorry to see you go. I, personaly, am going to stick out this low point and look to brighter days ahead.

Good Luck and May the Force be with you,

This going to sound awfully like a flame, but I can't resist. Nothing like someone talking about Kant's theory of theinvisible hand whouses a creative spelling for the following words"treable" "visous" "expantion" and "citys." On a more serious note what he says is true. Supply and demand, yada yada yada, etc etc. I think it's safe to say, that the only real way to make a ton of money in Architect is to beat everyone to it on a new server. Any other way about it and you've got to compete. On a random question, what are most of the merchants doing out there as far as resources? What's the average price, CPU, for the more popular minerals (steel, ore), chemicals, etc? I think if architects could gauge the that, then setting a price wouldn't be so tough.

I'm sure it depends on the server, but business goes up and down. Can't always expect a boom. I hit a dry spell for a couple weeks where I wasn't selling a thing. I'd sell a couple crafting tools a day and that was it. I had 4million in the bank so I wasn't hurting. I used that time to build up inventory. Spenta few million on resources, and now business is up again. Sold a bunch of fusion gens, and some other various harvesters and factories. I'm back up to 4million in the bank and now I have a ton of great resources to keep stock steady.
