Thread: Another 'stealth' fix/nerf? Experimentation and assemble criticals are getting worse
Yup the last 2 weeks Ive only crit failed a few times since the big crit fail screw up.
But today, well its back people, I critted on 3 out of 7 deeds I tried to make.

Anyone notice that after Friday's 'trickle' patch, that even master architect's see even more crit's on assemble's and experimentation? I sure have
Yes. I was kinda baffled about the whole thing actually.
Ok just out of curiousity. Do you carry your crafting tools with you most ofthe time? And if you do how many times have you died and cloned with those tools?
I have noticed, that crafting tools have a invisible condition. I had the good fortune of being able to build some nice 14.94 effective crafting tools. And like most every one else I never took them out of my inventory when I done any combat. Until one day I started getting critical failures about every other time and this was with high quality materials that had always been using. I tried again with another crafting tool that i had been carrying and was getting the same problem.
So I pulled out some crafting tools that I had made on a factory run, and the critical failures stopped. So just to double check, I made two exact things one using the toolI had been carrying around and gotthree critical failures one on first assembly and and two in experimentation. Made another with thetool from the create and with the exactsame materialsI got no failures.
So the moral of the story, don't cary your crafting tools around with you in areas where you can die.The Death Decay is affecting the crafting tools, and increases the chances of critical failures.
Jup, the Same, made 30 medium harvesters yesterday, 10 of them had ber under 10 due to experimentation fails / crit fails at combine, ... I'll start making my harvesters in a factory now, seems to be more safe.

Hmmm.... Interesting test. Thanks for relating this info, I'm making up new tools today and will check this thesis.
Thanks!
Who the hell is doing whitebox testing on the CF algorithm? Fire the effing moron.
I don't think it's possible anymore to be a casual gamer and make money at being an architect.
God damnit, I don't mind the crits once in a while but this is effing nuts.
Hmmm, the other night I was trying to make a bunch of harvs, and I CFed/moderate succesed a ton on experimentation. Then a a friend told me to try experimenting three "chunks" at once (as opposed to the 10 at once I was doing), and it worked like a charm, all great and amazing successes with that. So for experimentation, maybe you should try that.
definately leave your crafting and survey tools at home when u decide to go hunt etc. Decay does kill your tools.
also, doing 3-4 boxes at a time is safer but the more times u experiment the more chances there are to fail as well. so its up to the individual which method is best for his style of crafting.
I factory make everything these days - if I can't make a minimum of6 things, I simply don't make them (just made 5 xBER13 Floras at the expense of one for the schematic - which is better than ending up with 2 x 13, a 12, and 11 and a couple of piles of dust which is normally the case with these).
And Cheesario - best thing is to do 2 or 3 points at once, cuts down the risk of crits and you end up with better efficiency rates than doing all 10 at once (an amazing will add an additional experimentation slot each time).
. Remember though, the odds of you getting a crit by doing 4 or 5 seperate experiments is way higher than doing 1 or 2.
I really have no idea why people complain about this all the time. - I fail 1 our of 30-40 sessions...
I have 14+ crafting tools that i DO NOT carry around with me (incase i die so they wont decay), and use high (39-42) rated crafting stations.
I rarely fail on experimentation, and even more rarely fail on assembly.
As far as the 'trickly patch changing anything' comments - If you pay attention when it's patching, that download didn't actually patch anything in the game, it just downloaded, and saved, and that's all. - There's update logs that tell you what happened, and there was no patch on friday... nothing was changed.
