Thread: Fix it or I quit
Enough of this crap, since getting furniture 3 I have failed on every structure larger then a small house.
I spend all my time checking harvesters, running around the map looking for ore locations (which always suck below 70%), and moving harvesters so I can make 1 or 2 dam sellable items a day. Now after spending all my time I once again have appsolutely nothing to show for it. Another disapointed customer and more maintenance due on all the harvesters so I can try this again in another 12 hours.
Well I changed my subscription to monthly - kick myself in the ass for buying a 6 month package. Because this is enough. I've had it. I want to play a game and have fun.
F***ing listen to your users you stupid f***s. Critical Failures are ruining my choosen profession and I don't care if anyone else ever gets a house made for them.
I'll run kill missions like the rest of the people in the game and become a creature handler - because those are the only systems you devs seem to want to work on and fix.
Game for the casual gamer my asss - no dam casual gamers making it as an architect with resource shifts every 7 days and missing resources for days on end, and critical failures that take your only way to make money and blow it right out the window.

However, I think your problem lies in friendship. You need friends to help gather resources and soften the blow if you fail on a structure. Endure the hard times while the developers are looking into your issues (because you're not the only one critically failing left and right), and when the good times come, it will be much more rewarding.
Creature handlers were far too powerful and some adjustments needed to be made. They want to be fair and keep the game balanced.
I've just started making business partners so that I can gather resources more quickly. Yes, it still hurts to fail on a large structure, but it's a risk that we have to take.

Geez, what a whiner. No one wants your lame houses anyway.
No-one needs your childish flames either...
I really fought the urge to flame this guy this morning because I do agree with Bulbous. But I also agree with Mdjxt, flaming isn't going to help. So I'll try to put it in constructive terms. Yes, failures suck. Yes, it's frustrating to spend a day collecting resources only to end up with nothing to show for it. But in no way is calling the devs "stupid f***s" going to get you anywhere.
Failures are part of being an architect. We have more to lose than any other crafting class because of the amount of resources involved. But no other crafting class can get 40-50k xp for one crafted item either. You don't hear anyone complaining when they move up to the next skill after making 3 medium houses. We accept the rewards, we should accept the risks.
And there are far more important issues at the moment than failures....which seem to be totally random....and not as crippling as some would like us to believe. How about harvester maitenance for one, or disappearing player structures. There are tons of bugs in this game that need to be fixed, same for almost every mmorpg out there. It would be nice if they could release a finished product, butthat's not always the case. And it'speople like this that scream that they are paying for beta that screamed for them to release the game because theywere tired of waiting.
So...calm down. Have some patience. If that'stoo much to ask, then try another profession. Something a little less demanding maybe. And if you're not having fun...quit. No one is forcing you to pay for this.
"It would be nice if they could release a finished product, butthat's not always the case"
So there was actually a case where this happened in a MMORPG? ![]()
Oh yes please name 1 mmorpg that had a good launch.. Every mmorpg that has been released has had problems just like SWG ... most were far worse a few were a bit better. However I do not like the lack of communication that the devs seem to use as strategy with the architect forum. I'd feel alot better if I jsut heard something assuring us that they havn't forgotten about us.
Actually, I played DAoC at launch, at it was completely playable. Not saying it had NO bugs, but it wasn't this bad, or *shudder* as bad as AO.

LoL I doubt anything will ever be as bad as AO... well unless Funcom decides to make another online game... now thats something to shudder about...

DAOC... Mythic Rocked!
in all seriousness, this profession makes it VERY hard to have fun.
Friday I had just recovered from my last large house fail - and had managed to put down enough harvesters to see me through the weekend, and had even had three people order some houses. I explained that I wouldnt be able to provide them with their houses until sunday night, they agreed - all peachy. "Maybe things arent so bad" I think.
By sunday, all three of those people had bought off other architects who are able to undercut my prices. Not only this, but ore shifted and I pretty much wasted 20K of maintenance fees.
People cancelling their orders can probably happen in any profession. however there is no way people should be able to make buildings for less than the cost it takes to construct them. THERE IS A FLAW HERE.
Please dont quote supply and demand. I havestudiesbasic economics (and even not so basic stuff). I understand supply and demand. However I know in my country, and I assume in the states as well, there are things put in place to provide at least basic price floors. There are bodies put in place to prevent large businesses from driving everyone else out of the market. Right now, the architect market needs work.
I am not having fun here.
I dont know how much longer I can pretend that it's worth my money each month.
