Thread: Lighting decay, the un-expected effect.

Recently, a handicapped couple sued a well-known cruise line for not offering handicapped accessible tours of the bridge and other areas of the ship. The intended result? Get some money, and maybe get some tours for those less able to move about. The real result? The cancellation of ALL ship tours, costing those who could go on them before the oportunity to do so again. The moral? You may think you are doing a good thing, but no one will bend over to give you what you want. That would require spending more money for the ship lines. Whole boats would need to be redesigned. You really think they're gonna do that just for a handful of folks?

Whats my point?

People will buy more lights. Yes. But I have a feeling instead of people just buying more lights all the time, they will just start to use lights less. I too sense a great disturbance, and it feels like a bit of sales loss. Not the intended effect, huh?

I fully agree. Very well put.

Candles and lamps will now be used less.

*sigh*

The "hassle" outweighs how nifty they are.

In my opinion, these were a poor choice as renewable income for architects anyways. This game has extremely limited lighting options, the generic lighting in houses is too sterile and I WISH we had a "dimmer switch" or something (can you imagine how cool candles would be in a totally dark house, or guildhall, on a nicely decorated dinner table?), and it just adds a nice new option to lighting while making it a hassle.

*sighs again*

Yeah - great fix. Way to kill candle and lamp sales.

Or how about just adding a light bulb element? That way we could sell something and we wouldnt have to re-position complex furniture placements every 30 days. Food for thought.

Another thing they could do if they insist on making lights decay is adding an option to turn on/off the lights and light/blow out candles. That way the timer would only count down if we were actually using the light.

You know, that would be really cool if you could turn all the generic lighting off... Very cool.

I'm not sure if anybody else noticed, but it also affected lights that were placed by the game. When I went into Theed Cantina, I noticed the free-standing lamp next to the stairs was out.

Agreed. If we were able to do that, as well as pick the outside colors of houses during crafting, Architect would be much better off. Two small changes would be a lot of love for one crafting profession and happiness for the general player base.

Argh! What really irked me about this was the fact that I had a good deal of candles placed in my cantina...and now that they've burned out, they dissappear So now I've got to rack my brain and solicit other guildies as to their recollection of where they all were...or I may just throw my hands up /shrug

Oh and I totally agree with turning off the generic lighting. Houses, PA halls and Player buildings (especially cantinas!) could look so much better if we could choose the lighting scheme

You have repair kits for armour, ships, weapons and custom kits for droids, ships, vehicles

so why not make lighting kits for candles and lights

whenkit is invent,it should give a extra option when clicking lighting to add extra duration to them

hmm ¿
