I know that it needs alot of grinding to get novice. After that though do you need to grind much? I looked at some shcematics for houses and if the 1:2 rule is here also then I can't see that much grinding would be needed. Thanks in advance.

I haven't had to grind once I got here. Takes 5 structures to get first level boxes. I spend more time waiting to get enough resources to build what I want. Stockpile carb ore and reactive gas when you have the chance. Turbines require this, and a lot of structures require turbines.

However, building each structure can see like a grind. I finally set up a factory to produce structural modules.

No grinding, if you are grinding I will buy what you don't need today, right now.

You will use everything you make and wish you could make more.

Well, I guess when you're doing a bigger project with lots of walls, you could kind of call that "grinding". But I think of grinding as the act of crafting stuff not because you need the stuff, but because you need the XP. I haven't done that ONCE since I hit Novice Architect.

I'm too busy building actual sale items (mostly already ordered).

The last grinding I did was to get *to* Novice. =)

Architecture is all about grinding out structures for people who have little or no understanding and thus no appreciation for the effort, time and in game cost of making their houses.

Expect to spend 6 hours a day, (12-16 on the weekend) either;

- Searching for ore
- Waiting for ore
- Searching for power, metal, gas or other trace element.
- Waiting for ore
- Grinding parts
- Failing on the last combine costing you between 3,000 and 35,000 resources

Making XP is the easy part of this profession, making it a viable sustainable business, that is another thing altogether.

Oh and did I mention that you will need probably at least 2 accounts, or the use of someone elses lots. You probably want 3 if you want to make excess power for when the solar or radioactive is simply unavailable or at pathetic percentages that do not make it worth your while. Forget about owning your own house, those two lots are far to valuable.

Oh and expect 15K-30K maintenance costs / day so keep that cash flow up or watch your harvesters burn. Personals will not cut it. Use mediums or heavies when you can make them but remember they cost 3000 and 4500 respectively to re-deed.

No XP is not the problem in architecture believe me.

Well, don't be too discourage by BetaToxin's post my friend.

I did it about 80% alone, with the help of ONE person giving me 2-4 of his lots. I don't have a second account, and I never spent more than about 12K a day on Maintenance. I'm a Master Architect, and as I said, I stopped "grinding" after I hit Novice Architect. I did get a little extra help from friends in the form of occaisional gifts of a 2K stack of metal, or 1K of hides or something, to craft with. But I by NO means ever ran more than a total of 12 harvesters. EVER.

Architects run the biggest risk in the game. We can lose a week's work in one click. That being said, we also get *massive* XP for the things we craft, in comparison to most other crafters. It only takes a few big projects to fill up an entire bubble of XP.

Thanks you all for your responses. I think I will do Architect, though I don't really plan on it being a money making profession( I'm getting weaponsmith for that) I do think It would be fun to have as a sideline business I've always had an interest in architecture and I hope this will be fun.

So far as I've seen, EVERYTHING costs 100 times its base maintenance cost to re-deed (I say base, because I have skills that lower my maintenance cost, but it didn't affect the re-deed cost).

Heavies cost 4500 to move (their maintenance cost is 45, or 90 credits per hour). I moved one last night.

Don't discount those 2-4 extra lots Terror, I would give be estatic to have more than the 8 I can afford, 8 if I don't have my structure factory up, then it's just 6.

On good spots, say a 50% Low Grade ore spot with 4 Mediums, thats close to 60k Low Grade ore extraper shift compared to someone without the 4 extra lots
