Thread: End of the world...
Today, I saw one architect in Coronet selling a small house for 5k, and another selling a medium for 20k.
:cowers in fear
Are you sure he was an architect? If so, he's getting kicked in the ass. Tell him that.
BUT...no fear, I've sold my last 20 small houses for 10k a piece (dropping to 8k for friends). My first medium houseI sold today for 50k. Yeah I know my prices are a bit low, but it's those architects that are making it this way. I'd be up +300k if it wasn't for those dumbass architects who sell their houses for way below market value.
Just sold one large house for 195,000 last night. Guy was way cool, he just rounded it to 200,000. I then stuck around for an hour talking with him and helping him with furniture. Sold about 10-15,000 worth of furniture to him. And then at the end of the night he tiped me another 20,000 for being so nice.
Wish more architects would have experiences like this.
well regardless of how many low-ballers I hear "I am doing it to help the community", IMHO they are plain full of it. They are attempting to lower the market to the point that most the competition is driven out of business. AND once that happens, wait and see what the prices rocket to. I work in a very cutthroat industry IRL and see it happen time and time again. Don't believe me? Just pick up the newspaper.
Hang in there, don't give up, find other ways to supplement your income, sell resources if you cant build with them to make cash, ect.
Dont set yourself up for disappointment. This trend of under-cutting and lower pricing will continue. Until, however, changes are implemented to prevent it, or make it much less desirable to do so. Right now, missions are too easy. Real simple. Right now, these idiots selling for unprofitable prices are protected by a saftey net of delivery missions. No matter how much they screw up or mess up, they can always go back and generate the money the lost back through there.
Missions in general, are paying too much. Destroy missions too. Its making it too easy for funding crafting classes. If you sell too cheap you should go flat out bankrupt. Kaput. No more money no more nothing because you cant master a simple idea such as cost versus profit.
Personally, I think missions should be unavailable once you are beggining your elite profession. Same goes for combat, however I do understand that until they finish the game for combat classes (in other words something real like static spawns and more dungeons) those are going to exist.
Flat out, its to easy for people to screw up, sell for less than they invested and recoup their losses. It forces the more intellegent people to do the same thing. Even worse, there are a ton of people running around with more credits than they know what to do with.
Solution:
1. Eliminate missions for elite professions.
2. Employ more money sinks. Something.. anything.. something to spend your money on. Something a crafter makes? Even better.
3. Finish the game. Dynamic spawns were a great idea, until they couldn't make large camps of monsters like they wanted to. Once the server admins went to the programmers and slapped them for doing it, they had to spread their "dyanmic spawns" across the entire planet to balance "server load". This wasn't done for the player. The attitude was.. make stuff they can kill, we'll fix the rest later. Now its biting them in the arse.
I am impressed with the potential with this game, however, it isn't in working form yet. I am running out the last of my subscription right now, and I am not playing anymore. I was "run out of business" from a sinking economy. Another problem.. too many crafters. WAY TO MANY PEOPLE CRAFTING.
Solution to too many crafters. Make everything MUCH more expensive to build. People dont seem to mind doing a few missions to make up for their losses making buildlings.. WELL MAKE IT HORRIBLY EXPENSIVE and they wont be so easy to lower their prices.
You need to hit them in their wallets until it hurts. 5x or 10x the resources required so they can really laugh when someone wants a "deal"
Heheh I get a kick out of Darkyy's post.
I'm an Architect that has been told I'm lowballing, yet I sell smalls for 10K and Mediums for 75K, so who's ruining the market, "dumbass"????
/mood sarcastic - It's Architects who are lowballing mediums for 50K who are ruining the market!!! BAD DARKKY!!
Terrorbeat:
If your doing so well, why do you seem intent on defending yourself? Personally I think your in the same boat as the rest of us, but unwilling to admit it.
If you were truly "rolling in the dough" I doubt you would post here.
The other thing I am rapidly realizing is there is nothing to spend all this money on that we are so desperatlely trying to aquire.
In a true "perfect world" scenario, I would be constantly trying to achieve some bucks to get cool stuff that I want. That isn't going to happen, unless it buys hapiness.
I think in trying to recreate a economy SOE has stumbled on something far more.. human..
I'm not defending myself, I'm defending the facts. The FACTS are:
I've made plenty of money, for my needs, selling at the prices I sell at. For new Architects to read these boards, they'd think they're screwed if they are forced to sell a small at 10K, as I was (wanted to charge more but couldn't).
So, I post on here so that new Architects know you CAN make it, and it's NOT impossible, as all the "price whiners" on this board would have them believe. I did it, without a massive PA assisting me. It CAN be done, and I'm here to tell them that. I like to help.
If you all want to sit around and say it's impossible and it's messed up and everyone might as well give up, you can go ahead, but I'm happy to train, assist, and help in any way I can new Architects. I think it's a wonderful class, and it can be a heck of a lot of fun. I'm sick of everyone saying it's completely broken. It's NOT. It needs fixes, sure, but constructive posts help that cause, not 900 different posts all saying "the economy is broken, the economy is broken!" These posts are repetitive, non-constructive, and eat up entirely too much space on the Architect boards.
We've got real issues to deal with (see Zarcath's posts for more information). I want to work on those.
In retrospect, I see now that me saying you're all wrong has no bearing on what you'll post. So, I guess I should just stop posting on those threads, since you're all enjoying the complaining so much. =)
Have fun! I'm crafting away as we speak and having a blast!
Now I understand.
I understand your need to justify your time invested into this game.
What I dont understand is your inability to admit that critical faults in this game. Although I do understand your need for ignoring them.
Its people like you that make things much more enjoyable. I give you that. Although it was also people like you that told people "HEY AT LEAST WE GOT A BOAT" on the liferaft as the Titanic was sinking. I admire the fact that your dishing it out to the public, trying to reinforce the fact that your having "fun" when they class you are playing in sinking intot he abyss.
Hats off to you for your positive attitude. Dont worry, I will be here, as always, to dose the reality of truth.
evilprize:
Thanks hon, for trying to see the positive in what I do. /hug
I DO agree, there's a TON of issues with the class. But I also believe that our correspondents (Zarcath and whoever comes after) are working to correct the most serious of issues. I have to say, in all honesty, that I just don't see the economy as a big an issue as many make it out to be.
Perhaps it's because I have been successful. Like I said, I can't even keep up with my vendor stock, it moves faster than I can make it! Perhaps I'm just blind to the issues because they haven't hit my server as hard as some others. But where I live, things are going well. I've got PLENTY of complaints, just none of them are related to the economy.
I think one thing most people don't realize, is that by the time you hit Master as I have, you really don't spend much time selling small projects. I refer them to friends who NEED the XP. The price of a small home really means SQUAT to a high-level architect. I can craft one for a friend in 10 minutes for free if I need to, the resources needed are a laugh at this point, it's not only not the core of my business, it's really NONE of my business.
That being said, I turn away probably 10 sales a day, because I don't need the XP, and I don't need the money. I have a couple good friends who are Architects on my server, and I'd rather see them get the business and help them succeed. I knew when I started what my goals were:
1) Help my PA get their PA hall, and more importantly, become an actual PA.
2) Master the Achitects tree, because it's a goal I set for myself.
3) Become the best Furniture dealer I can become. You may laugh, but I saw this as a better market from the beginning. And honestly, I enjoy it more. Crits don't hurt, the economy is better, and I really enjoy it.
