Thread: New architect nerf on TC ??
Anyone play on Test Center that can confirm this??
test center just implemented a vendor payment system based somehow on how much you are charging on your vendor
If this is true, I for one will have a serious problem. Not only are furniture sales down 1000%, now my vendors are going to cost as much as harvesters to maintain? So much for using vendors as 'extra storage' to get around the max item nerf.
This is getting out of hand. I can see 3 months from now we will have 20 item inventories and backbacks will add another 20. Your bank? Lucky if it will hold 50 by then. Houses for storage? LOL they were never intended to be used that way...
Why wouldn'ta house be a place to store things? It makes sense to have a house able to store things. It is your house. I don't go everywhere with everything I own. I leave the things I don't need at home and take what I need with me. Have you seen the insurance prices for a character with a lot of things in his/her inventory? It is more than a friggin house.
If you want the houses to store things, please sign my petition for house functionality.
The vendor rate has always been tied to the value of items you have on your vendor. I have heard that if you go to npc vendors instead of the automated ones, that it is less of an issue.
I used to be able to plop down 5k on my vendor and have it last a few weeks. Then I put my first houses on the vendor and it lasts 2 days if Im lucky.
Oh so its not a bug its a fix? All of my vendors have always said and used "1" maintenance. So when I put those large houses on my vendor I was suppose to be paying 1000 not 1 maintenance? OMG looks like Im goning to be out of business shortly.
My main source of income is furniture sales. People will not buy furniture anymore as it just uses up valueable space.
My vendors will now cost as much as a large harvester to run everyday?
I can't even do delivery missions to offset this now because I can't do enough of them in a the 4 hours or so I have to play a day to pay maintenance on 3 heavy harvesters.
I guess once my remaining credits are gone I'll have a fire sale and go on a /tip'n spree. Oh well, this game had so much promise for crafters...
Oh yeah I can become a BH like everyone else, thanks SOE

Not for NPC vendors, the rate has always been 1, only droid vendors properly charged on value of items for sale.
A better solution would be a max item count on a vendor based on merchant level and a percentage of sales, a comission, that the vendor charges you. Then your vendor is only costly if you sell stuff.
This currently model is messed up and hurts new comers and startups while have a much lower inpact on established players who benefited from the NPC bugs.
Not only that you can forget putting high ticket items like heavy installations on a vendor. It would cost you more than maintenance on the thing to post it. Better to set it up and sell the resources on the bazaar, and again an architect is brought back to what it really is, the miner who can make his own mines.
Not that I am really complaining about that, I like that aspect, but I am sure not all architects enjoy being glorifed miners.
I noticed this finally about a week ago when I first registered my vendor on the map. I was up to 184 maint rate, with 4 med harvesters, 3 small houses, and a few furniture pieces in it. Total value around 120k, and it was costing me 4.5 k per day to maintain. My other vendor was at a rate of 1. I trained efficiency 2 for reduced vendor fees and it went down to 71 with the same stuff in it and still registered.. the other vendor went to 0. I think it is INSANE to have this kind of rate, especially for architects.. I put 2 or 3 large harvesters and a PA hall on there for someone to pick up in the morning and that next evening I owe 6k to repair..
This is not new, but needs to be changed.. maybe add a reduced fee in the architect construction fields so that architects can sell the high dollar structures for less of a fee..
Boy, it would be nice if people read patch notes and maybe a few Dev posts or maybe just paid attention in-game before complaining so much.
FreaknFarlo - You aren't supposed to use vendors for storage, it's against the rules. Use your house. They fixed the house item limits this morning, btw, so you get 75 items per lot (150 for small house) plus vendor items don't count towards that limit.
BrainMandinga - What are you talking about? Houses work fine. You've always been able to store stuff in houses. And this morning they increased the amount of items you can have in a house (see above).
I guess I'll have to wait until I get home tonight to see how my maintenance rates are. I keep my two furniture vendors stocked pretty well and I must have 50k in inventory in them at any given time. If the maintenance is too high, I'll just stop keeping them stocked and I'll use a show-room model where you have to order what you want.

So you are saying that having small and medium houses at 150 instead of the 250 we had before is OK? and you are saying that having a large and a PA hall having less storage than 2 small houses that take less than half the lots is OK? Tonight I will be destroying about 5k in misc resources that are sub-50 stacks.. They make hundreds of different kinds of resources and then nerf storage because their database cant handle it.. You know what? our server was having a tough time handling our database.. so we upgraded.. and we dont have a few hundred thousand subscribers paying us 15 dollars per month to use that database. If anything, this is a design flaw that they are trying to work out, and many people are unhappy.. Last night I picked up some stuff in my house, and was unable to drop it again, resulting in a very full inventory.. I am not happy about it.. I pay for a product and when the product becomes less than what it started with, then I have every right to complain.
That being said, the original post was slightly mistaken in saying this vendor thing is new.. I noticed it a week ago, and it has probably been around longer..
Stand by for the vendor nerf, as I just read about a person that stores everything in his vendor now, at one credit per, and overcomes the public house with a 10000000 credit entry fee.. Sounds reasonable to do that or use the stock room in the vendor as a storage facility. Of course, the devs wont see it that way and will nerf it soon enough..
Ironic that they fixed the admin on housing and then killed the storage space so that 2 people sharing a large have less room than 2 individual small houses and it takes more lots.. Are we walking backwards?

I do read the patch notes and any dev posts I manage to find. Perhaps YOU should read what this thread was about.
Vendor Maintenance depending on the price of items listed in the vendor means Architects get screwed.
Lets see, I can choose between running that extra heavy harvestor for 7k of ore, or I can choose to have my structures for sale on my vendor. Hmm, well since without ore I have nothing for the vendor to sell, its not much of a choice huh. Vendor maintenance fees in excess of 2k/day is just way out of line.
Oh I must be doing something wrong. All Master Architects have a million credit plus bankroll. Excuse me.
