Thread: 2 House 1 factory gone on a crit
I lost one house as well and lost all the comps. I have failed 2 or 3 times in a row on the comps which are also very resource heavy. I am now working on my first factory. I cringe everytime I hit the assemble button these days.

I'd hate to fail a PA (but then I won't likely ever master Architecture).
I did fail on my first large house in beta though.. Thanks Lor for helping me get the 2nd one done right..
I crit fail a Large house in beta.
I crit fail a Medium house 2 days ago
I can understand crit fail for weapons smith where if they crit fail they can usually build another. With the amount of resources we use up, crit failing often mean no 2nd try(until tomorrow at least)
Tamber,
I can't speak for anyone else but I actually get many more crit fails when at a crafting station! I'm sure its all "random" (like flipping a coin and getting heads 100 times in a row). But yesterdayI crafted all day in the feild without one single crit fail. I came to town and crafted some at the public station and got 3 crits in a row2 successes and then another crit fail.
My feelings on the matter though are crit fails are pointless. They do not punish power crafters with large PAs feeding em resources. They can and do punish those working alone or in small co-ops and they REALLY hurt architects. Think about the cash lost on a crit fail of say a factory. Even if you think of resources and cash at 1:1 (which is not quite right even for the most self contained architect) you are talking about click...poof...11k + cr gone. (don't even think of profit lost...just COST) Not just gone but gone for good. For a self made architect it's quite often game over for the day at that point. Show me a combat proffesion that has to lose money at that rate?
On the other hand I have to think there does need to be a frustration factor in crafting besides the normal frustration you have if you force yourself to grind. Some "risk" as it were. I feel a much better system would be if you got no exp for the part you fail but still got the resources back (maybe minus a token amt) OR take the resources but give the exp. The way it is now a major crit fail punishes an architectfour ways.
1) considerable cash loss from cost to build of the failed item
2) profit loss from having no item to sell
3)no exp gain on failure
4) loss of ability to gain exp after a fail due to the loss of resources
A couple of these would be ok but all of them together is nuts.
Personally I think critical fails were put in the game to make crafting not macroable with third party programs.
Critical fails on architect items are just too costly though. I'd like to see them change it so you don't lose any crafted components if you fail. You would still lose some resources but it wouldn't set you back an entire day if you fail a large house.
Yeah, I have only crit failed on one house but I wanted to cry
For people in big PAs or with multiple accounts I am sure this isn't as big a deal, but for us solo crafters it is horrible. You shouldn't lose 3350 or whatever resources because of random chance.... This is a possible deal breaker for me - I will quit if this keeps happening.....
I have built about 20 houses. I have never crit failed on any other them. Maybe one or two struct mods.
You fools sound like you have poor stats.
I needed to make a wall today. I got a critical on 3 of the 10 of the struct. mod's. then when making the wall I got a critical. BIG resources waisted!! this is BS
